Sorry to take so long to reply.

The rear sight on mine was drilled off center so the rifle shot WAY to the left.

It was off the target board at 100 meters WITH "issue" ammo!!!

I was unable to move the front sight over enough to compensate as the front sight blade was blocked by the sight hood.

I had to:

Saw off the front sight hood.

Remove and grind down the right side of the front site base.

Go to the range and "drift" the from sight to the left with a punch till the groups were in "the black".

Then as I wanted a sight hood, just for looks, I cut a groove in both sides of the front sight base with a dermal tool and slid on the front site hood from a k-98 Mauser.

It looks odd to a purist but it shoots almost as well as a good Mauser.

fritz the MAS 36 is an accurate rifle, once you fix the sights.

It is just a bit rough in operation and it has seen A LOT less wear that my Mausers..: )

Back in late June I went back to running and got uo to 3 miles.

Run a day ...lift a day and ONLY one beer a day.

I was down to 189 lbs.

Than some friends who I have known for 30 years ask if they can come by.

One was leaving Cali and another had come in to help him drive back to NY.

Ok..so we talk and we drink and drink and talk...beer and wine flowed.

They took us to dinner, we took them to dinner..the Hippy cooked.

I am back to 200 lbs and I still got half a case of beer left!!!!!

The only thing I would add to Uncle's gentle advice is be mindful of trigger squeeze.

Push in with the web of your trigger hand as you draw your trigger finger back.

Make sure that you clean the rifle before you fire for record.

Some prefer to fire a "fouling shot" this depends on you.

As far as a Masters in Nursing, I leave that to your professional judgement but as far as grad school, a word to the the wise.

LOCK down all the requirements in writing and get it approved by a counselor.

One of my brighter students, E-mailed the agreed requirements to his advisor and got a confirmation back.

He told me that he was glad when the school tried to add on last minute requirements.

Make sure that the grad school you pick will accept your BS degree.

Some will let you enroll for the MA program, then say that parts of your Undergrad degree are "out of date'

and require you to do over at their school in order to continue.

As far as Iraq, I would say that, yes, you should go back and do your best IF you get orders to go.But we are both pass the age to go looking for a firefight ..been there done that.

Plus, you have a new wife to consider.

Now I know we have our Mauser men and our Mosin men and some fellers love the Lee Enfield.

But I have to report that at about 250 meters, the max at my range, using mil-sup ammo they all grouped about equal and all hit the 6 inch iron plate.

I tend to favor the Mauser 98k and expected it to win but the 91/30 and the No 4 mkll took equal honors over all.

Granted this was not a scientific test, I just eyeballed the groups.

Still as far as mid range accuracy goes, I would say the main battle rifles of Russia, England and Germany in WWll were about equal.

This would compare with the small local "protests" of 65 or early 66.

I don't see this growing into the mass protests of 67 68 69 or 70, since there is no draft.

But if the draft came back, without another 9/11 event the protests would grow.

I was watching the tube this morning and I noticed that all the talking heads but especially the ANTI-war "got to get out of Iraq" "love the UN" mob have become hawks.

Some of our more "peace-loving types" are calling the total destruction of Iran and Syria with the heavy lifting done by the USA.

This annoys me becouse some of those same "talking heads" were, last month, calling my Marines "war criminals" and crying about the "rights of combatants for "the Insurgents" in Iraq.

(especially the Mosin, there ain't a damned thing anybody can do to make that one shoot as good as the worst VZ-24).

I don't know about that.

I have two Mosins: a m-44 and a 91/30 both of them were a lot better than my Vz-24.

I had to counter bore the Vz-24 to get it to group even 2 to 3 inches at 100 meters.

The M-44 and especially the 91/30 would hit, firing from sandbags, a NRA samll bore rifle bull at 300 meters out of the box.
