Thanks Doc, I tend to take the oppisite I guess you could say a minimalist approach, it is a way I learned back when rebuilding computers for my classes. I always try to use parts I have. So far as I can see now,,The i5 is more than enough for what I do. But I am studying xenon processors. karl

I build a nice I5 1155 with parts and some Ebay stull. I just found out that I can put a i 7 cpu on the 1155 Board. I dont game , just net, You tube and e mail. So is the I 7 any advantage over the I 5 ? karl

Unless there is some historic or family reason to restore and you have VERY deep pockets, I would say pull it down and rebuild. I wanted to join the corps and go to nam...and I did. Saw even back in the 70's that the real battle was going to be in the classroom and so took up teaching.
