karlunity
Well, I went to the range today, the Hippy went shopping. Guns: 1858 Remington .44 revolver, 1861 Colt .44 , a 1851 Colt .44 and an Rom.22 rifle The Rifle did a find job, with iron sights, I was dinging the Iron plate at 210 meters..yep, I said 210 that IS 210 meters with a .22 and Iron sights : ) As to the pistols..now these are good pistols, problem was the loose nut behind the gun, I could not keep more then about two shots out of six in the black at 25 meters. To add insult to bad shooting, it took almost 3 hours in the yard at 100 degrees in the shade to clean the darn things. Yeah, I know better than to take more than one BP pistol to the range, I cleaned them before, I just got dumb. Plus I was out of beer and the Hippy slipped me carrot juice. karl
FC
That's pretty darned good for a .22. I don't know what you did with the revolvers. Remember to use Ballistol to keep them from binding up too fast.
AzRednek
Next time drink the carrot juice before going to the range.
karlunity
I think that the revolver problem comes from lack of practice. I read that to be good with a handgun You have to shoot weekly. With a rifle, it all seems to come back to you after a few shots. Karl. AzRedneck, It was so hot yesterday that the Carrot juice tasted good : ) Still, It would not have helped at the pistol range. I could see the target, I just could not hit it. : (
AzRednek
Karl are you taking any meds?? I take Zyrtec on a regular basis and during certain times of the year use Sudafed. When I take the two my hands shake slightly and it is aggravated if I combine it with caffeine from a soft drink. If I know I'm going to be shooting I try to allow at least 6 hours. I tried cheating recently, swiped one of my g/f's Valium thinking it would stop the shakes. All it did was make me sleepy, didn't help with the hands moving and it was a real struggle driving home. A trick I was told by a cop. If your hands are shaking slightly, sit down and write a few paragraphs. Supposed to improve hand and eye coordination. Doesn't matter what you write, copy a page from the dictionary or any book. If your handwriting improves as you progress down the page you might shoot better. If you have a steady hand, still can't shoot, time to get your eyesight checked.

karlunity
Thanks AZ. No meds. The Hippy has had me on health food for years. When I go for a check up and write "none" on all the med forms they give you and then write my age it blows their mind. I will remember that bit about writing between strings of fire. Take care Karl
