karlunity
I have a 1851 pietta..a battered old fella..but he was my first black powder colt. so when I found a hand and spring was needed the spring had snapped. Part came from VTI..good price fast service..I spent 3 hours fitting it..not a problem as slow work is careful work..BUT soon as I get everything done and the Colt together it has more timing problems..seems the "Pietta Bolt" had a broken arm. Gotta order the part and now I gotta wait til Monday for the part. Check the whole gun when you need parts as you may need more than one part. karl

karlunity
One good thing did come of it. I never realized how dirty BP guns got till I took the 51 all apart. The ole fellas on the range told me that "You have to take it apart to get it fully clean. Looks like they were right. I would have sworn it was "clean" but .nope. The good thing was that I took the 1860 and 1858 apart and they also needed cleaning. Now they are perfect. I just got to find an out door range. Very helpful vids from youtube. karl
