  1. Hey Mike, long time no talk! How's Denver treating you???

  2. Same here Not bad for 15 years since I had a US History or Government class. Jer
  3. Happy Belated Birthday Mike! Hope everything works out in the job department. Would be a great birthday present for you... Jeremy
  4. Most factory heatsinks have either a thermal pad, or a pre-applied patch of thermal grease. But, neither one of those is as efficient as a aftermarket paste called Arctic Silver that is made with atomized silver. Generally for overclocking you want to use either a larger aftermarket heatsink or the same heatsink but with a fan that moves more air. As to how I'm doing, I'm doing ok. Finally got around to bedding my 6.5x55. Haven't shot in months since money has been tight, but other than that everything is OK here. Jer
  5. Maybe he meant thermally conductive paste, like you use in between a processor and heatsink in a PC. it fills whatever gaps there are and helps transfer heat. Jer
  6. Same here, live in Saugus and when it was at Plum and Bouquet it was around a mile from the house. Got a little nervous but once again everything came out fine here. To see some of my photos from the first and second days (Sunday and Monday) go to my photo gallery. Jeremy
  7. Damn thats sexy! I would probably end up getting the non R/T model, the smaller hemi has enough horsepower for me, and if I really got a hankering for some juice I could always throw a supercharger on it. Jer
  8. I got the Lothar Walther Art.724 in 6.5x55, it's 25.6" long and .768" at the muzzel. This purchase was by far the best $190 I've ever spent. Shoots great, looks great. A shining example of German craftsmanship at a stellar price. Jer
  9. They can't. At least not to Californians. As far as the state's concerned that gun isn't old enough for you to have it shipped to your home. You wouldn't be breaking federal law but you would be breaking state law. You will probably get one in better condition by just going to Turners Outdoors (call around and find a location that has them) and the tax and dros will even out to what you'd pay for the shipping and transfer fees, since it seems like every shop in cali charges 60 or more for internet transfers. Jer
  10. Jim, Basically, every surface except the bore is coated in the molyresin. I've only put 100 rounds down range so far and there is some visable wear on the lugs but not too much. If you do decide to go the molyreson route, make sure you follow the Procedures and Tips found here http://www.molyresin.com/molyresin_tips.asp Jer
  11. LL, You are correct. The triggerguard and bolt came from a turk action that turned out to be a little soft. I replaced the shroud with one of the sunny hill commercial style ones. And the trigger is a Bold Optima. Jer
  12. Thanks Jim, The metal coating is called Norell's MolyResin, http://www.molyresin.com/ , and that is the gray color. I had that done by one of the guys on Snipers Hide. He goes by HateCa, his name is Randy and his prices are very reasonable, great turn around time too. If you want I can PM you his contact info. On the accuracy front I'm not the greatest shot in the world, but, I can consistantly hit steel at 400 and 500 and most of the time at 600. I think the rifle shoots great and its the nut behind the trigger thats causing the misses. For the price I dont think there is a better barrel out there. I think it was 190 shipped or something like that. Jer
  13. Well guys, I'm almost done with this one. She shoots fairly well as is but I'll be bedding the action and the first inch of barrel just to be on the safe side. Action is a Charles Daly commercial mauser action, Barrel is a Lothar Walther Art.724 Light Varmint contour 26" with a 1in8 twist, Stock is a Boyd's Warner Varminter in Midnight laminate that I finished myself. Davis May forged the bolt and Z1R installed the barrel for me. I spent a long time working on that stock. Generally I would recommend against using Boyd's as the inletting is sloppy as hell. That's the main reason I'm bedding the action instead of just the barrel. On the finish I used Watco's Teak Oil because they recommended it for denser woods and I figured laminate is pretty dense. I'm very satisfied with the way it came out. I mixed the Teak Oil 1 to 1 with odorless mineral spirits and sprayed it on using a Preval sprayer. Let it hang for 45 minutes in 75* heat, then wiped it down with an old tshirt. Sprayed it down again and let it hang for an hour. Then rubbed it down again. Was still slightly tacky to the touch. Hung it up overnight and by the next afternoon it was not tacky at all, just nice and smooth. Jer
  14. I would appreciate a copy as well. jeremy.stroud@gmail.com
  15. I'm down for any weekend after the 4-5 of march with one caveat, I can't do saturday mornings. I have a welding class from 8am to noon. So saturday afternoon or sunday morning is best. We have a couple options as far as location as I see it. Place To Shoot isn't bad if we have anyone coming from fresno/bakersfield or even farther north if someone wants to drive that far, or Angeles, or this lytle creek. For me I would prefer either of the two I mentioned first, mostly because its 80-85 miles from me to lytle creek and about 45 miles for Mike (at least from the looks of the map). I'm actually doing a meet for snipershide.com on march 5th at Angeles, I may also swing by the glendale gun show that weekend. Jer
