  1. As far as I know, it's a stock China made rifle. I haven't even looked at it since early in the winter but as I recall, I abandoned the Bassett mount and picked up a cheapie on e-bay, but it seems to work. Yes the rear sight is jacked up. I had a very hard time getting the safety to go on. I did some work on it with my Dremel and got it to work but it still needs more.
  2. Nice work! I have one that Don Markey built years ago but I've not gotten around to using it yet.
  3. Made it to the range on Saturday to check out the Anaconda. Accuracy was about 3" at 25 yards. I'm sure someone with better eyes could do better. I was shooting Underhill 185 grn JHP and recoil seamed pretty stout, but I may be spoiled from shooting mostly 9mm for the last couple years. I need to take out my Ruger Red Hawk for a sxs comparison.
  4. Either that or a motar squad!
  5. Very nice work! Your skills at wood work leagues ahead of mine.

    Gunny

My youngest son just made Gunnery Sargent (E-7) in the US Marine Corps. Kind of makes a guy feel old. The photos are from 2005 when he accompanied me guiding sheep hunters in the Alaska range. He kept the squirrel population down around our basecamp and got his 1st grouse that year.
  9. I listened to an interview with him (I believe NPR) years ago and I believe he was some sort of police officer and became well acquainted with the hill people. Though a work of fiction, it is based on the authors knowledge and experiences with these people.
  10. My Desert Eagle was not bad at all as far as recoil, it was however, essentially a single shot pistol as it was very likely unlikely to return to battery. I have complete faith that the Anaconda will fire each and every time I pull the trigger.
  11. I traded my Desert Eagle 44mag for a more dependable Colt Anaconda 44mag.
  12. The Wandering Falcon by Jamil Ahmad
  13. When the SHTF, paper gold isn't worth the paper it's written on. When gold prices were down, a lot of miners that I know, didn't bother digging until the price started coming back up.
