Sailormilan2
About a month ago, my son had an oops at the range. We think that he had a squib load that stuck the bullet in the barrel right at the muzzle. He cranked off another round, and blew off the muzzle and castle nut, plus warping the SEI muzzle brake. So, we decided to turn it into as scout rifle. We got a slightly used Springfield M1A Scout barrel, and installed it on the Poly receiver. Headspaced and timed perfectly to the USGI bolt. I had to get a new gas cylinder lock, castle nut, taller front sight, and Springfield muzzle brake. Total actual replacement parts cost about $175. Then, as his Christmas present, I got him a Scout style scope mount with handguard and a red dot sight. Now to go test it out. So, we went from this: To this: Now my oldest son wants me to do his that way.
