spec4 e4
After talking to my doctor and surgeon, I got the sleeve done. My doctor talk to two other doctor that deals with the sleeve in my area. After getting back down in Mexico, the surgeon told me that I had no infection, my body was trying to push the port of the lapband out. He giving two choices, remove the band or remove the band and get the sleeve. Like I said after talking to my doctor and the surgeon, I got the band removed and the sleeve done. After almost tthree week later, I am eat like I was on the band. Lost alot of weight but that not all, my sugar is down, between 95 to 115 two hours after I eat, which is good. My doctor never had someone with the band or sleeve, so my wife and I are test "pigs". She has a few patients that she is thinking recommend this too but she want to see how we do. I am going to see an dietitian in January, my doctor is requiring it. I have no problem with that. So far as food goes, I still can not have dairy or spicy food like meatballs and texmex food. But I can have just about everything. My cousin about a year ago had the bypass done and he was telling me the issue he had and wish he got the sleeve. He has to take 4X the vitamins then regular people do. I take my vitamin like I usually do. Nothing more. I still get tired fast but my doctor and surgeon say that will pass in about another month, two operations in 2.5 months takes alot out of someone they said. Not hungry like I use to be, and food cost is way down. When my wife and I go out we wither order one plate, order of the kids menu, or order a single item. Most times, it's around 7.00 to 15.00 depends on what we get. I am happy as long I can keep my job and home. Work to damn hard to let this diabetes take it away. I will not let the diabetes win and take everything my wife and I work hard for away. I will keep you guys updated every now and then. AzRednek
"I am going to see an dietitian in January, my doctor is requiring it. I have no problem with that". That's good advice. About 20 more years ago I took off about 35lbs in a year after a visit to a dietitian. I discovered it wasn't how much but more about what I was eating that was piling on the pounds. The first three days are toughest. Two over the counter type meds I bought at a health/vitamin store helped kill my appetite. One capsule nick-named a Stuffer. Taken with a minimum of eight ounces of water about 30 minutes before a meal. Made my stomach feel full and apparently tricked my brain into thinking I had enough. The other pill was some kind of over the counter type sinus med. It killed my appetite but made me feel sluggish and sleepy. After a couple of weeks and shedding just short of 10 or so pounds. The meds no longer worked but I was off to a good start and it was easier to stay focused on the diet.
