FC
Dr. Hess, I saw an add for an informatics manager on Mercy Ship, western Africa. I did some reading on it, and the jobs are volunteer positions. Ten months is the short tour for this, up to two years. They don't want anybody married for more than 3 months. I had some thoughts hit me about tele-work, which should be feasible. I need to work for money anyway. The guy who responded is a retired Army 1SG. He thought it was an interesting idea, and said he'd contact the ship. Thinking about it some more made me realize that they could benefit from tele-medicine. Ft. Gordon does tele-encounters for psychiatry, and they were looking at Emory support, real-time, for their ICU patients. It'll be interesting to see what comes of this. Dr.Hess
I didn't know those existed. Interesting. Not for me, today, but interesting none-the-less. If they have a good data connection, remote services should be do-able, I would think.
FC
I miss informatics so much I'm willing to do it for charity. At least at work I'm being tapped a lot now for projects, IT, and policy, at the department level anyway.
