If you don't mind this is my opinion on the subject. If you can do the work yourself or have someone you trust that can do the work then re-barreling to 7x57 would be the best option. If you do not have the ability to do the work yourself then leaving it in 7.65x53 becomes the best option. Its hard for me to recommend someone paying $300- $400 dollars to get the gun re-barreled. Plus... Please understand that the old barrel has been on the receiver for over 100 years and its possible to crack the receiver removing the barrel. It doesn't happen often but a lot of people would take an old receiver and cut the barrel with a lathe. Doing that ruins the old barrel in some cases. but its better than ruining a receiver.

I actually read a story that claimed The shooter was a $2000 a night male prostitute but as he got older his clients didn't want to pay him the big bucks. This may upset some people but here's my take on the shooting. Personally I think mental illness is used to many times as an excuse to describe the actions of evil people. No money and health problems have stopped me in my tracks. I never was a collector but i certainly dreamed a lot. I would have liked to have bought military surplus rifles like they did after WWII or after WWI How many mosin nagants were bought for $1.75 after WWI My dads first rifle was a Stevens Favorite purcashed through the mail for $1.75 in 1933. No BS 4473 forms or FOID cards or background checks. Its a shame he let that go before I was born. I would have liked to have had it as a keepsake. Makes me wonder what happened to our country. Seems like were headed in the worng direction.

You can accuse me of being a bible thumper but I see GOD intervening in the USA in the near future. Remember Sodom and Gomorrah? GOD didn't give them a pass and I don't see the USA getting a pass either. The supreme court is going to rule that gay marriage is the law of the land this year and I see GODS judgment soon to follow. By the way I'm not going to apologize for my beliefs either. I was raised with the beliefs that men make mistakes and must come to God through Christ but there is one thing you don't do and that's spit on Gods word. The USA is about to spit on Gods word. They allow according to the list provided a 45-70. What is the change in the rules? Did they add rifles to the hunting list or what? I quit hunting years ago because of nonsense like this; I live in a shotgun only state.
