  1. Thanks for the tip riflecrank. seems to me that annealing cases can't ever hurt.
  2. Happened to a guy I work with twice. The last time, he noticed the pending charges and contacted his bank. They told him they couldn't do anything until they cleared. He changed banks. He did get all his money back though.
  3. I have a copy of their resolution. 2008_01_29_Item_12_Marine_Recruiting_Office_in_Berkeley.pdf
  4. Thinking of getting a set of Miculek grips for my .357. Rubber grips stick to my hunting clothing and I really don't care for finger grooves or checkering. Does anyone own a set or shot with them that can tell me weather or not they liked them?
  5. Tinker, Which bullet is it? The golden saber uses a brass jacketed land to land diameter bullet. They have a bore sized driving band at the rear. Remington Golden Saber My 38 spl bullets measure the same above the case at .345".
  6. Worst was probably Milwaukee's Best. Though I still can't drink Busch. I get sick as a dog on it. It was at every keg party. Drank a lot of Keystone and we used to chip in to buy a case of long neck Goebel for about 5 bucks. I still love Ramen noodles but can't even look at a box on mac n cheese. Anyone have any good Ramen noodle recipes? We used to add a can of tuna or some ground beef to em all the time.
  7. Got a long bag here, wife bought me one of those hard/soft gun cases I had my eye on.
  8. Merry Christmas everyone! Anyone get any long boxes under the tree?
  9. My condolences to Fritz's family. This board will never be quite the same. I always looked forward to reading Fritz's posts. Pat
  10. Never seen a trigger guard like that. I have a Chinese bolt stop and trigger/sear assembly. They both look like they were milled by beavers.
  11. It was working this morning when I checked it out. It wouldn't load a couple days ago though.
  12. Those S&Ws seem to shoot really well. A friend of my Dad had one in 22-250 and it was his go to varmint rifle. My wife didn't seem to mind getting rid of me this year either. The week leading up to deer season she actually started to get on me about packing for the trip. She made plans with one of her girlfriends for one of the days I was gone.
  13. My Dad and I went hunted northern Michigan last weekend like every other year. Because of liberal antlerless permits for the past 10 years or so, success rates, especially on public land are generally very low, there's been many years we haven't seen a thing. This is the only time any of us can remember 2 family members bringing home a deer. I filled my doe tag Friday morning and my Dad got his 8 point Saturday afternoon. I know this is a sporterizing board, but no sporters were used. I took my doe with my Grandfathers old Winchester 30-30 and my Dad took the buck with a rifle he bought long before he met my Mom, a Marlin in .35 Rem. We have "nicer" rifles, but I had promised to take a deer with the old 30-30 ever since my Dad handed it to me and my Dad felt more confident with his old lever action than his new 30-06 . I guess in this day when we all "need" short mags and fancy optics, the old woods guns will still get the job done. Pat
  14. WOW! Is that one of the Midway Fajen European stocks?
  15. Where are the rings at on the brass? Maybe I'm not reading your post right. With regards to accuracy, if you slug the bore, I'd bet you'll find that it's about .311. If you're a handloader, no biggie, you'll just have to load the right diameter bullets.
  16. Shees, Thanks guys. It was a quiet one and I had to work but it was still one of the better ones. Pat
  17. Got this in an email; I bought a bird feeder. I hung it on my back porch and filled it with seed. Within a week, I had hundreds of birds taking advantage of the continuous flow of free and easily accessible food. But then, the birds started building nests in the boards of my patio, above the table and next to the barbecue. Then came the bird schitt. It was everywhere..the table, the chairs, the barbecue, just everywhere. Then some of the birds turned aggressive. They would dive bomb me and try to peck me even though I had fed them out of my own pocket. And other birds were boisterous and loud. They would sit at the feeder and squawked and screamed at all hours, day and night, demanding I fill the feeder whenever it got low on seed. After awhile, I couldn't even sit on my own back porch, anymore. So I took down the bird feeder and in three days the birds were gone. I cleaned up the bird ###### and removed all of the nests. Soon, my back yard was like it used to be...quiet, serene, and no one demanding their rights to a free meal. Now, let's see....Our government gives out free food, subsidized housing, free medical care, free education and allows anyone born here to be an automatic citizen. Then the illegals came by the tens of thousands. Suddenly, our taxes went up to pay for free services; small apartments are housing five families; you have to wait six hours to be seen by an emergency room doctor; your child's second grade class is behind other schools because over half of the class doesn't speak English. Nearly every product in the stores are in bilingual containers; I have to "press one" to hear my bank talk to me in English; and people waving flags in our own streets, other than "Old Glory", are squawking and screaming, demanding more rights and free liberties. It's just my opinion, but maybe it's time for our government to take down the bird feeder.
  18. Four guys were at deer camp. They had to bunk two to a room. No one wanted to room with Daryl because he snored so badly. They decided it wasn't fair to make one of them stay with him the whole time, so they voted to take turns. The first guy slept with Daryl and comes to breakfast the next morning with his hair a mess and his eyes all bloodshot. The other two said, "Man, what happened to you?" He said, "Daryl snored so loudly, I just sat up and watched him all night." The next night it was the second guy's turn. In the morning, same thing--hair all standing up, eyes all bloodshot. The other two said, "Man, what happened to you? You look awful!" He said, "Man, that Daryl shakes the roof. I sat up and watched him all night." The third night was Frank's turn. Frank was a big burly ex-football player; a man's man. The next morning he came to breakfast bright eyed and bushy tailed. "Good morning," he said. The other two couldn't believe it! He looked rested and wide awake. They asked, "Man, what happened?" He said, "Well, we got ready for bed. I went and tucked Daryl into bed, patted his a$$ and kissed him good night. Daryl sat up and watched me all night."
  19. The antis are gonna get a lot out of this too. http://www.foxnews.com/wires/2007Sep14/0,4...Attacks,00.html Assault-Weapon Attacks on Rise in Miami September 15, 2007 4:32 AM EDT MIAMI - The spray of bullets that killed a police officer and hurt three others this week came from something increasingly common on this city's streets: a high-powered assault weapon, fast becoming the gun of choice for gang members and violent criminals. And when the guns, once found solely in the hands of soldiers, are aimed at officers on patrol, there's little authorities can do to escape. "It's almost like we have water pistols going up against these high-powered rifles," said John Rivera, president of the Dade County Police Benevolent Association. "Our weaponry and our bulletproof vests don't match up to any of those types of weapons." Federal officials don't compile statistics on the number of crimes involving assault weapons like the AK-47, and municipalities' numbers across the country are patchwork. But in Miami, at least, there are signs it is becoming a major problem. In 2005, the Miami-Dade Police Department reported two homicides involving an assault rifle; last year there were 10. That agency covers numerous unincorporated areas in the nation's eighth-largest county, but not its biggest cities, which have their own police forces. The Miami Police Department said 15 of its 79 homicides last year involved assault weapons, up from the year before. This year, already 12 of the 60 homicides have involved the high-power guns. "We've noticed an increase in the amount of assault weapons that we've seen on the street, and certainly the amount that have been used in murders and other shootings," said Detective Delrish Moss. "And it seems to be increasing every year." Police do not yet know where the 25-year-old suspect in Thursday's shooting of the Miami-Dade officers got his weapon. Shawn Sherwin Labeet was found hours later and 30 miles from the crime scene. Police said they shot and killed him after he refused to drop his firearm. On Friday, officers arrested four people accused of aiding Labeet. Alba Bello, 47; her son, Alain Gonzalez, 24; and Bello's boyfriend, Lazaro Guardiola, 35, were charged with accessory after the fact on suspicion of harboring the killer. Labeet's girlfriend, Renee Dangelo, 26, was charged with giving police false information. Later Friday, Labeet's brother, Shane Labeet, 32, was charged with aiding his brother's flight. Also arrested was Shawn Labeet's nephew Jaleel Torres, 22, who was charged with resisting an officer with violence as investigators tried to question him about his uncle's whereabouts. Labeet is also the stepbrother of the U.S. Virgin Islands' most wanted criminal, Ishmael Ali LaBeet, said Miami-Dade police Cmdr. Linda O'Brien. Three decades ago, Ishmael Ali LaBeet and four accomplices opened fire during a robbery on St. Croix, killing eight people. They were caught and convicted of murder, but LaBeet escaped and hijacked an American Airlines jet to Cuba in 1985. The rising number of deaths by assault weapons reflects growing availability of the weapons and their elevation to a status symbol among gang members, said Carlos Baixauli, an agent with the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. "In the early '80s to '90s, it was more common to have a handgun in your waistband and the bigger the caliber, the more powerful you were," Baixauli said. "Now it's escalated to the assault weapons." Another issue potentially at play is the 2004 expiration of the federal assault weapons ban, 10 years after its passage. The legislation outlawed 19 types of guns, including the semiautomatic AK-47. The guns are readily available on streets, Baixauli said, or can be ordered by mail for under $200. Shootings involving assault weapons were among the reasons U.S. Attorney R. Alexander Acosta set up an anti-gang task force of federal, state and local law enforcement officials this year. He assigned 15 federal prosecutors, led by Assistant U.S. Attorney Ben Greenberg, to the effort. "These bullets are very powerful: they go through walls, they go through cars, and if you just spray the general vicinity you're going to get innocent bystanders," Acosta said. "A shooting that might have been an injury previously is now a death." Kevin Morison of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund said his organization is considering tracking when assault weapons are involved in police shootings. Officer shootings had been on a downturn until this year. More U.S. police officers were killed while on duty in the first six months of 2007 - 101 - than during any such period since 1978, according to the organization. To date, there have been 132 officer fatalities this year, compared with 97 at the same time last year. Rivera pleaded for leaders to allow police to carry higher-power weapons - though not necessarily as strong as some already on the street - and provide stronger protective vests. "Give us a fighting chance," he said. Police officials said they were bogged down with the aftermath of the shootings and unable to respond to Rivera's comments. They did say they were trying to cope with the loss of Officer Jose Somohano. The Miami-Dade department was helping to plan the funeral, and Officer Jody Wright was recovering from a gunshot wound to the right leg, O'Brien said. The other two officers were treated and released. "Anytime a fellow officer has been killed, it destroys us," O'Brien said. "It's almost got no words to it. Your blood just runs cold."
  20. Looks good Don, I really like the lines of the stock.
  21. Gun Broker seems to have more parts and get more traffic. I've noticed a lot of my former favorite sellers are on both, but I imagine that they're testing both AA and GB to see which one sells the best. There aren't any listing fees so the starting prices seem higher than they were on eBay. Personally, I find Gun Broker's site easier to use.
  22. After looking at the case and thinking on it for a while here's my best guess. It was a FMJ bullet. Fouling shouldn't have been a problem. Case has a bulge at the head. An unfired case inserted into the barrel looks as if it should be impossible to bulge quite that far. This was the first round from the magazine. Possibly the slide didn't lock completely into battery. I've just read that when you replace the striker spring in a Glock you must also replace the mainspring because they work together. I replaced the striker spring but used the mainspring that was in it (only had a couple hundred rounds on it). Did a complete strip of the slide. All the parts look brand new. I installed a new mainspring. I had thought about selling both my 9mms and buying a Browning HP. Problem is that I like the Glock. Now I'm rethinking it.
  23. Just got back. We had rented a cabin in Northern Michigan after spending a night at a bed and breakfast. We spent 2 days visiting wineries and tasting wine. I'm not much of a wine drinker except with the right meal. We bought about 2 cases and I've been asked to build a wine rack for the basement. I hadn't seen the wine country in our state and I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised. The scenery is beautiful. You guys are correct about time going by faster and faster every year. What a journey the last 10 years has been. Pat
  24. My Wife and I are off to celebrate 10 years this week. Not going anywhere real special, just getting away for a few days. That ten years went by really fast.
  25. Maybe also TigerDirect? I haven't dealt with them before though. Pat
