  1. Jim, I think the correct term should be Mountain William. Swamprat
  2. It seems to me that since Tony said he was being transfered the hits here have went down. No one responds to submisions. It seems like the site is sinking. I have been posting no one is responding. If its just me say so. I think this place is to good to let slip into the unknown. So? Swamprat
  3. Thanks fritz. Pucara is the model of my latest Rexio pistol. Swamprat
  4. Does it mean fort/fortress or is it defense? Maybe something else. Swamprat
  5. Fritz, I had that ear wax thing some years back and it was a pain in the butt. My equallibrium was screwed up big time. If I had to choose eyes or hearing loss I guess I would take hearing loss. I can always read a book. Get better. Swamprat
  6. It has come to my attention that some people desire a uniform, accurate, scientific, and unbiased way to measure and report the performance of firearms. I give you the following, submitted by Michael Bane: __ Sucks __ Doesn't suck __ Might not suck if I oiled it __ Would still suck if it came with $100 bill rolled up in barrel __ Sucks less with ammo not made in former USSR __ Doesn't suck if I get to keep it __ Sucks more if you refuse to take it back __ Wouldn't suck nearly as much with a steel frame __ Might not suck as much if you had Sarah Michelle Geller personally deliver it __ Wouldn't suck at all if you'd introduce me to Mr. Glock's masseuse... 7. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Marines and the Air Force Colonel Col. Brett Wyrick USAF he is real and you can look him up on Google Here are some real motivators for you: If I ever hear airmen griping and complaining, I jump into them pretty quickly, now. Most people over here have nothing to gripe about compared to Marines. Marines are different. They have a different outlook on Life. One Marine Private was here for several days because he was a lower priority evacuation patient. He insisted on coming to attention and displaying proper military courtesy every morning when I came through on rounds. He was in a great deal of pain, and it was a stressful to watch him work his way off the bed and onto his crutches. I told him he was excused and did not have to come to attention while he was a patient, and he informed me that he was a good Marine and would address "Air Force Colonels standing on my feet, Sir." I had to turn away so he would not see the tear in my eye. He did not have "feet" because we amputated his right leg below the knee on the first night he came in. I asked a Marine Lance Corporal if there was anything I could get him as I was making rounds one morning. He was an above the knee amputation after an IED blast, and he surprised me when he asked for a trigonometry book. "You enjoy math do you?" He replied, "Not particularly, Sir. I was never good at it, but I need to get good at it, now." "Are you planning on going back to school?" I asked. "No sir, I am planning on shooting artillery. I will slow an infantry platoon down with just one good leg, but I am going to get good at math and learn how to shoot artillery." I hope he does. I had the sad duty of standing over a young Marine Sgt. When he recovered from anesthesia - despite our best efforts there was just no way to save his left arm, and it had to come off just below the elbow. "Can I have my arm back, sir?" he asked. "No, we had to cut it off, we cannot re-attach it." I said. "But can I have my arm?" he asked again. "You see, we had to cut it off." He interrupted, "I know you had to cut it off, but I want it back. It must be in a bag or something, Sir." "Why do you want it?" I asked. "I am going to have it stuffed and use it as a club when I get back to my unit." I must have looked shocked because he tried to comfort me," Don't you worry now, Colonel. You did a fine job, and I hardly hurt at all; besides I scratch and shoot with my other hand anyway." God Bless the Marines. Heroes, every one of them! Col. Brett Wyrick USAF
  8. Very much like a Rossi. This last one I'm working on looks like a S&W large frame. Vent rib barrel and all. Wish I had picture capabilities so I could post a pic. Swamprat

    Yee Ha!

Sir, We want proof. Not some official announcement. Were's the head? Were's the body? The people demand proof! Swamprat
  10. Twas the day after Christmas, and all through the house, Every creature was hurting-- even the mouse. The toys were all broken, their batteries dead; Santa passed out, with some ice on his head. Wrapping and ribbons just covered the floor, while Upstairs the family continued to snore. And I in my T-shirt, new Reeboks and jeans, Went into the kitchen and started to clean. When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter, I sprang from the sink to see what was the matter. Away to the window I flew like a flash, Tore open the curtains, and threw up the sash. When what to my wondering eyes should appear, But a little white truck, with an oversized mirror. The driver was smiling, so lively and grand; The patch on his jacket said "U.S. POSTMAN." With a handful of bills, he grinned like a fox Then quickly he stuffed them into our mailbox. Bill after bill, after bill, they still came. Whistling and shouting he called them by name: "Now Dillard's, now Broadway's, now Penny's and Sears Here's Levitz's and Target's and Mervyn's -- all here!! To the tip or your limit, every store, every mall, Now chargeaway-chargeaway-chargeaway all!" He whooped and he whistled as he finished his work. He filled up the box, and then turned with a jerk. He sprang to his truck and he drove down the road, Driving much faster with just half a load. Then I heard him exclaim with great holiday cheer, "ENJOY WHAT YOU GOT ... YOU'LL BE PAYING ALL YEAR Happy New Year Swamprat
  11. Make sure and enter your name. Santa’s personal Christmas wish to you – you’ve got to type your name in the box at the beginning… Enjoy! (Your name is just for the video.) http://home.att.net/~hideaway_today/t041/xmas_santa.swf
  12. Jim, Nothing yet. I go to the doctors on the 28th. They put me on antibiotics for 2 weeks to see if it is just an infection. I get new blood work the 28th then possibly a biopsy. Just trying to keep a positive outlook. I'm sure it was a false reading and I'll be fine. Swamprat
  13. About time something good happened to you! Tell Jack thanks for a great laugh. Would of liked to rusted down the piece of crap Mattel I had to use. swamprat
  14. I bought a Rexio 38spl off an on-line auction. The gun was sold as a parts gun or gunsmith special. It had a broken transfer bar. This is the second Rexio I have purchased with this problem. There are no parts available in the U.S. for these guns. So I e-mailed Rexio in Argentina and the parts are on thier way. The best part NO CHARGE, NOTA, ZIP, FREE! These revolvers are in line of quality with Rossi and Taurus (in my opinion). They make some cheaper stuff but the revolvers are nice S&W copies. And they have a life time warranty. Just thought I'd let you in on my little secret. Buy them cheap when you find them (no parts) and write Rexio (free parts). You don't even have to write in Spanish. I ask for price including shipping for part X for model number such and such, serial number such and such. Part to be shipped to and give my address. They always respond with free part and shipping. The U.S. gun makers could take a lesson from these folks. You can find thier web site by google search. Swamprat
  15. That polecat is cleaning up the dead birds, bet you end up with a pack of them around for awhile! Swamprat
  16. Maybe thier plan is to only let them hunt after dark. Swamprat
  17. That's how the doctor started out. Guy's I need your prayer's. It looks like I might have prostrate cancer but won't know until after the holiday's. They started me on antibiotics to see if it's an infection but nothing will be known until the end of the year. So if you all could offer a prayer in my behalf I would appreciate it. Swamprat
  18. Jim, Used metal roof sheeting goes for big bucks around here at farm auctions. You might want to try salvaging it when the weather warms up. Swamprat
  19. Jim, Glad to hear all is not lost. Sure helps put a better glow on things to know there are still good folk's around. Are you going to rebuild or just retire? Swamprat
  20. Merry Christmas to all here at MFRC! Don't forget to send a Christmas card to the ACLU. We want to flood them with cards. Make sure it say's Merry Christmas and put a note inside informing them it's a Christmas tree not a Dream tree or any other thing they can think up. Thier address is: ACLU 125 Broad st. 18th floor New York, NY 10004 Swamprat
  21. Karl, Hot water was everywhere during the civil war. All cooking was done over open fires in iron pots. Getting hot water was easy for them. As for hot water in Nam. No open fires, no iron pots. Just those stupid trash can heaters! However I did seem to get myself in hot water from time to time. The average calvary raider in the civil war carrried at least 4 and up to 6 revolvers giving him 24 to 36 shots. Hit and run with superior fire power. I for one would not want to face even a light troop with just a single shot musket. I think they may have had more need for hot water to wash thier pants after being hit by raiders! As far as the greasy mess goes try removing the cylinder before appling the grease. That way you do'nt smear it all over the frame. Swamprat
  22. Jim, My prayers go out for you. I also wish I could help out. Just go at it easy and don't get yourself laid up over it. Swamprat
  23. Old age and deceit will over come youth and skill everytime. Swamprat
  24. Just a skiff of snow but about 1/2 in of ice with sleet on top. Swamprat
  25. Went plinking with the grandson's on Thanksgiving. (Would of posted this sooner but high speed DSL was out.) The boy's are 12 and 5. The 12 year old has been shooting since he was 5 and is a pretty fair shot. This was first time out for the 5 year old. He is right handed in everything except appears to be a lefty shooter! We had a great time and it didn't take long to use the better part of a 550 rd box of federals. Considering they were shooting single shot rifles I guess we were there all afternoon. Only had to remind the little one once about gun safety. All you young guy's need to hurry up and have grandkid's they are a load of fun! Swamprat
