Can a coin type headspace gauge for 303 be used for 30-40 ?

I have the 303 gauge but none for 30-40.

I'm going to remove the military rear sight on my M48. I know how to do this so my question is, is the barrel under the sight sleeve blued or white ?

Wish I knew about such when I had my hernia surgery. I had to rip out the elastic stitching in some sweat pants.

Maybe you guys can figure this out because I'm not alone trying to figure out these mystery Yugos.

I've been seeing these show up at my local Cabelas in small batches. Even some on their online site.

For the most part, they are M48 actions but the rest of the rifle parts are all over the place. Military barrels, sporter barrels, converted military stocks, sporter stocks, stamped FPs, milled FPs, military sights, sporter sights, most with military bolts but some with sporter bolts and no rhyme or reason to them with the mixing of parts.

All are 8x57.

The importer is someplace in NY.

My local store has 3 - a M48 action, an FN stamped action, and a civilian Zastava action (without the thumb cut out on the left wall). All intermediate length.

A buddy of mine surmised, on another forum, that Zastava took notes from Bannerman, but did it with their own product.

So, my question is - have any of you guys seen these and if so, what do you make of them ? Certainly odd ducks.

Looking at my accumulation of Mauser 98 bolt shrouds/sleeves, I noticed one with a vertical cut firing pin hole thru it vs the more common horizontal cut.

What exactly does this fit ?

Naw, they're buried due to our recent move. The spot welds are just enough to keep a bolt from being inserted, obviously on purpose. Other than that, they are blued, standard 98 LRs with the Argentine crest on the front ring and the Modelo 1935 on the left rail. Not a wear spot or worn corner anywhere. 

Several years back I bought a couple of Argentine 1935 LR receivers from Sarco. Evidently, they had a bunch of them then. My question is...what is the history of these receivers ? They are German proofed BUGN and are blued and brand new - never had a barrel screwed into them. The only fly is there are 2 small spot welds at the rear of the feed rails to prevent a bolt from being inserted.

Any ideas ?

I forget, what should be max firing pin protrusion at the bolt face ? In this case a Mauser, but that shouldnt matter.... max is max for the primer.

2. google "mesquite wood" and you should be able to find what youre looking for.

3. Texas mesquite is reddish with dark grain streaks. There is also honey mesquite from Argentina which is more yellowish in color

I saw this asked on another site but only a couple of real replies, the rest drifted off to other barrel makers. What's the deal, are they worth considering or not?

Have they jacked up the prices on jerky and other crap?
