  1. Reading the thread about the Rem 30s got me to thinking about the difference between a Rem 30 coo and a 1917 coc bolt. Is the difference in the cocking cam? I ask this because I have a 1917 dehorned action that would be about right for a project.
  2. I've been considering one of these but could'nt figure out which one. So what I'm getting from this thread is the PME is the better of the two?
  3. If you can find a Portuguese Verguiero, it had a hinged trigger guard with an in the bow button release. Same thing as a 98 trigger guard and these were Mauser made rifles so it figures that some parts are interchangeable. I have'nt had an 09 guard in years but in my memory, they dont have the lock screws, the Verguiero does.
  4. Everyone has their own thing. Some even chase little white balls around on the grass, which to me makes a whole lot less sense than reading about how to roll your own mauser. Where is the challenge of going down to the local Wally World for this week's Rem 700?
  5. I have a long cocking piece for a 98. Do I need a longer firing pin for it? Or is there such a thing? I have thought that all 98 firing pins are the same length. Or were these cocking pieces used for some oddball Turk?
  6. hodgie, Go to Ebay and look up gunsmithing books by Dunlap, Howe, Vickery, & Baker. With the exception of Roy Dunlap's, these books were written in the 30's and have some good basic info in them. I'm not for sure that Dunlap's wasnt written in the 30's too but there have been later printings.
