  1. What if that gay Asian vegan HIV+ woman had all the answers we needed to turn this ship around? What if she could get private industry restarted and get people back to work, cut our taxes, run all the illegals off, cure narco-trafficing, repeal the 1986 Automatic Weapons Ban, and bring America back to being that shining beacon on the hill? Would you vote for her? Or would you prefer some stuffy old white dude from Indiana who toes the party line pledges to "bring change" to Washington? Fellas, maybe I'm not old school enough, but it seems to me that as crappy as the situation is that we're in right now, we all got here together by voting for the same lame "lesser of two evils" that've been running since the 60's. Obama still fits the same mold because the people that got him elected somehow managed to "out status quo" McCain's campaign. I say we should hang the lot of them. We desperately need some changes for the better in this country and if it takes a queer or a woman to bring them about, so be it. As long as he/she is a Christian, 2cd Amendment supporter, strong on foreign policy, good at domestic policy, and able to run a tight ship, I think it'd at least be worth a look. Don't you?

    Clemson

Tony, I trust Clemson's posting ability has been restored? I'd hate to loose the man. He's always been very polite and quite helpful.
  3. I say we should burn some korans and if the muzzies don't like it, we'll behead some Arab journalists while chanting some anciet Tuetonic hymn. Piss on 'em. (But the Libs are going allow them to piss on us instead.)
  4. To truthful, I don't know all the particulars on them; just what I read. Magnum Research does sell a Desert Eagle in .50AE (that's what the big guy had on the movie "Snatch"). $600 for a .44 magnum wouldn't be a bad deal. There are parts, barrels, etc available for these pistols in case something is wrong with it. Plus, I believe Magnum Research is still in business in case you need work done. I'd go for it.
  5. A friend of mine has a big .50. Its fun to shoot and pretty accurate all things considered. I would like to buy one some day myself. From what I read, you can change the barrel, bolt head, and magazine on a Desert Eagle and interchange between .357, .44, and .50. The only thing I didn't like about his pistol - other than it was about $3.50 a pop - was that it ejected straight up and back. That guaranteed that I got hit in the face by a hot ejected case every time I shot it. I would imagine that could be remedied by adjusting my shooting stance though.
  6. Glad to hear you're busy Jerry. Welcome back!
  7. You have to check this out! I think even Rube Goldberg himself would be proud.
  8. Park doesn't really like to cling to slick surfaces so the inside of the barrel probably isn't too bad. I'd scrub it will as Sailor suggested, shoot it a few times and evaluate the situtation. I've read on the FAL Files that you'll eventually shoot the park out of the barrel if any leaked in. The same goes for hot bluing - most of the gunsmiths I've talked to have do or have done hot bluing don't even plug the barrel. The finish eventually scrubs out anyway.
  9. Artist Steve Earl was once quoted as saying "Just 'cause you're not paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you."
  10. Karl, Act now and move quickly. Time is already against you since your identity has already been compromised. In addition to contacting Trans Union, Equifax, and Experian seperately and asking them to place a fraud alert on your credit, you need to contact your bank(s), mortgage lender(s), and anyone else you have a loan through to make them aware of probable identity theft. Next, contact your credit card company(ies), make them aware of the situation, and ask them to cancel your current card(s) and issue new credit cards that will have different credit card numbers on them. Next - and most importantly - if you have a debit card, get in touch with the bank that issued it and ask them to cancel your debit card and issue a new one. I've known of a couple people who's banks moved their bank accounts from their current to a new one so they'd have a new account number. That always creates a big hassle if you're like me and pay bills electronically, but I don't think that's overkill. Next, buy a credit report from Experian or Trans Union and study it. Look for any transaction in the last 24-36 months that you did not initiate. These reports will show anyone that's pulled your credit for any reason and will detail any loans taken out in your name. If any loans have been taken out in your name that you are not aware of, you may need to contact the California Attorney General's office and your lawyer in addition to notifying the lender that the loan was issued fraudulently. Since I have not been the actual target of identify theft, I'm not sure what else to tell you to do. Make sure you have all your bases covered and do it NOW. Thieves these days are amazingly suffisticated and will make off with all your liquidity before you know what's hit you. I'm not sure how they may have got to you, but I will suggest the following: 1. Never let your debit card out of your sight 2. Shred every piece of mail before you throw it away 3. Never respond to solicitations that ask for account numbers via the mail or email 4. Always use the random credit card number generators your credit card company offers when shopping online 5. Pull your credit reports at least once a year and study them well I wish you the best of luck getting this resolved. This could be a freak occurence or a mild attack from a lucky thief. Or it could be something a bit more involved. The bottom line is that you need to make sure you have everything related to your finances covered and do it quickly. You can never be too careful these days. -Jason
  11. Yes they do but they can be hard to find. You'll have to do some looking if you want any. I have two SMLEs and love'em. Just make sure you stack the cartidges in with the rim on top in front of the rim below it and you'll have a rugged, dependable rifle. Do you know what model you have? It should be marked on the wrist. I have a No. 1 Mk III and a No. 4 Mk 1*. Both are good rifles although I'd give the nod to the number simply because I like peep sight. Good shooting! Jason
  12. Quality equipment Doc. That ought to have you covered all the way up to 48kW! What brand of UPS are you running? I live out towards the end of the line and have seperate UPS's for the home stereo and computer systems on the list. I'm also planning on wiring up a whole house surge module in the loadcenter sooner or later too.
  13. Doc, I'm not sure what genset you're running or how you've got it hooked up, but... if you've got two 120V circuits coming out of your generator, take that 7kW and divide it by 240. It should put roughly 29 amps at full load and roughly 36 amps at start up/surge output. That should be plenty to run lights and a microwave and the motor and thermostat of a gas fired home heating unit. I do not think it'll touch an A/C compressor or the emergency heat strip in a heat pump. I think it might have a hard time powering an electric water heater with it as well I know mine draws at least 30A by itself. Also, I would not connect any delicate electronics up to it (e.g. computers, stereos, etc.). While every generator manufacturer I've dealt with at work swears up and down that they've made huge advances in isosynchronous alternator designs...I just don't trust them that well. Maybe with a quality voltage-regulating UPS system between your computer and the generator; maybe. I deal with generators a lot at work so here's some random thoughts on them: -Always buy more than you think you'll need. Its better to run your generator at 70% capacity and have current to spare than it will be to max out what you're already planning for. Wiggle room is a good thing and a machine that doesn't work at WOT 100% of the time will have a longer service life. -If you can spend the money, buy a generator that spins at 1800rpm over any 3600rpm unit. They're inheritely quieter and last longer. (Heavy on QUIET!) -When you wire it up, avoid back-feeding or piggy-backing any two pole breakers. Go ahead and run a dedicated breaker to your panel. Its much safer and less likely to cause a fire. -Remember that all motor loads (any kind of compressor or fan) will have an in-rush current and you'll need to take that into consideration when you're looking at surge output on your genny. -Use Stabil in your gas. Lastly, here's a couple handy links courtesy of my friends at Eaton Electrical: Generator Sizing Chart Standby Generator Systems Wattage Worksheet
  14. It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to stick a wad of paper in the barrel to plug it. Also, you can use masking tap to mask off the areas you don't want coated. Just peal it off with a pair of tweezers when you're done so the finish doesn't try around the tape.
  15. Huh? Got a link or something?
  16. Could it be Enfield rifling perhaps?
  17. Tinker, To the best of my knowledge, since this is a consignment, the only forseeable reason this dealer would not accept your C&R is because his customer asked him not to. We don't have any laws on the books down that would prevent the sale of a C&R to a C&R licensee that I am aware of. I can ask around though if you need something concrete. Let me know if you need me to do some extra digging. Jason
  18. Fellas, I'm so friggin' tired of hearing people blame Bush...he's ONE MAN, he can't possibly have made that big a hash of things in his term in office. I swear, he's still getting blamed because the little girl's cats stuck in a tree. Honestly fellows, I think I'm going to club the next person that lames blame on Bush. We got ther messiah in '08 - its his time to pick up the ball run with it. Maybe he can ride in on his white horse and solve the immigration problem...if not...maybe it don't need solving...
  19. Tony, Is the office that diseminates this information in or around Barksale AFB in Bossier City, LA? I notice the 318 area code and thought of Shreveport. Or could it be Ft. Polk? I think they're in the 318 as well.
  20. Thought for the Day: "Lord, please let me be at least half the man my dog believes me to be."
  21. If you can get a pack of coyotes to stand still long enough to thin all them out, you're a better man than I!
  22. I'll be the odd man out - why not use a Mauser? I promise you that a 180grn 8mm bullet will kill a coyote.
  23. I bought a big box of .311" Remington Core-lokts to reload in mine. I use them for blasting bullets and .311" Sierra Matchkings when I'm serious about taking a Mosin to the range. Any .311-.312" bullet should work. Most will be .311" in diameter although I have seen a few .312" on the market. Another way to look for them would be to find components for a .303 British. That uses a .311" bullet as well.
  24. Glad to hear you're up and about and building rifles again Brad! Keep us informed. I've often thought about building a thumper like a 45-90 but haven't had the time or skill to do it. Just to be different, how about building it with a long barrel and flip tang sight? Sort of like a bolt action Sharps. Have fun! Jason
