  1. Archaeology Find Update After having dug to a depth of 10 feet last year, New York scientists found traces of copper wire dating back 100 years and came to the conclusion, that their ancestors already had a telephone network more than 100 years ago. Not to be out-done by the New Yorkers, last month in California, an archaeologist dug to a depth of 20 feet, and shortly after, headlines in the LA Times newspaper read: 'California archaeologists have found traces of 200 year old copper wire and have concluded that their ancestors already had an advanced high-tech communications network a hundred years earlier than the New Yorkers.' This week a local newspaper in Texas reported the following: After digging as deep as 30 feet in his 2000 acre pasture near Cut-n-Shoot, Montgomery County, Texas, Bubba Rathbone, a self-taught archaeologist, reported that he found absolutely nothing. Bubba has therefore concluded that 300 years ago, Texas had already gone wireless.
  2. Mike, I posed this question to some Garand experts a few months ago and was advised to ditch the idea of building a Garand and buy one from the CMP. Altough the parts are out there, they're not cheap and it would be much more cost effective in the long run to buy one from the CMP. You just can't build one in decent shape for what you can buy them preassembled for. Such was the feedback I got. -Jason
  3. If I had to guess, I'd say they're other-than-Microsoft operating systems.
  4. They could just be short-handed. They may have had to let a couple people go or may have a few out with the flu bug. You never can tell with Century.
  5. Guys, I'd let her do the cooking, but the only her around here so far is the dog and although she's a good cook, she really prefers grilled to fried. Seriously though, extra virgin olive oil is better than canola? I thought canola was the healthiest thing going at the moment?
  6. Perhaps you need to take it to the local western wear store and get them to shape it and block it for you?
  7. ...and I thought I worked hard for my money...sheesh....
  8. What's the healthiest cooking oil? Canola? Peanut? I'm trying to eat healthier and don't have an oven. That leaves me stir frying or pan frying many things and I'd like to find the lightest, healthiest oil if at all possible. Thanks!
  9. Yeah they're edible. They eat like lean store bought pork. Wild animals don't usually have much fat on them, and feral hogs don't have much either. You can eat them just like anything else; although I do not recommend you eat them anything less that medium well. Just cook'em good and you're good to go. I pretty much live off wild game. In fact, I've got some big pieces of back strap in the freezer and I'm thinking I'll thaw a piece out and make a crock pot pork roast for supper tomorrow.
  10. This was emailed to me. I figured Karl and a couple of others here might like it:
  11. If you can swing it, bring two and I'll meet you at the state line.
  12. Well, neither she nor Cornyn voted for the stimulus package. I reckon that's a step in the right direction.
  13. My dad emailed me this a little while ago. It appears they celebrated Wednesday morning with a bonfire. Them Carthage boys sure know how to build'em: Click here and read all about it.
  14. If this is the very same article I read a while back, yes it is true - been confirmed by Snopes. Hell of thing isn't it?
  15. Who votes for these idiots? Why you and I do. Every politician in Congress is in on this one. No matter who they are or what they're affiliation is, they're doing their dead level best to bring home the bacon for their district. Woe betide the grandchildren I haven't had yet. They'll be poor souls who'll have to shoulder this burden. That's if the US is still here in two generations.
  16. Yall can come stay down here during the next ice storm if I can come up there during the next hurricane. Deal?
  17. Check the Marketplace Forum at FAL Files.
  18. I know a couple mechanics who've got a part or two squirreled away, lightly oiled, wrapped in an oily shop rag, and stored in a plastic container. They claim it works. Just an idea.
  19. Wow guys. I've seen ice storms tear the world down before, but WOW. Nothing like being out of power and cold. I'm glad to hear yall came through it.
  20. You should listen to more classic rock! "....We don't get fooled again!...."
  21. Congrats man! I had a decent season myself. I killed two antlerless and a hog. And I'm still hog hunting! I also found a nice 7-pointer skull what the horns still in good shape. I'm going to do up a European mount and hang'em in the living room.
  22. We had to have a Carter to have a Reagan.
  23. I'm thinking of putting a garden in this spring too. I've still got to get a deep freeze and learn how to make sausage, but I've got two deer in the freezer and access to a ton of wild hogs. If I could grow some veggies and learn how to can and dehydrate, I reckon I'd be set for anything.
  24. ...Well, I guess its all over but the cryin' now. The Liberals won the election this year and have now ordained their messiah. Now's time to hunker down and get through the next four years. I have high hopes that we'll all make it through with most of our money, firearms, and freedom intact. Let us pray that His Majesty can deliver on his economic and foreign policy promises to restore America to the shining mansion on the hill, wealthy and powerful. I'm going to have another glass of koolaid and watch a rerun of his inaguration, or rather coronation. If anyone cares to join me, please let me know...
  25. Amen brother! Remember, hold your head up high, poke your chest out, and soldier on. You'll come out on top.
