  1. Made it to the range on Saturday to check out the Anaconda. Accuracy was about 3" at 25 yards. I'm sure someone with better eyes could do better.

I was shooting  Underhill 185 grn JHP and recoil seamed pretty stout, but I may be spoiled from shooting mostly 9mm for the last couple years.

I need to take out my Ruger Red Hawk for a sxs comparison.

  2. My youngest son just made Gunnery Sargent (E-7) in the US Marine Corps.

Kind of makes a guy feel old.

The photos are from 2005 when he accompanied me guiding sheep hunters in the Alaska range.

He kept the squirrel population down around our basecamp and got his 1st grouse that year.

Well, that was different.  Not bad, interesting.  I wonder how much of the actual culture of that land was in the book and how much was just made up.  If that's their actual culture coming through, man, nobody should ever step foot in the place, leave them alone.  No wonder they call that whole area the graveyard of empires.

I listened to an interview with him (I believe NPR) years ago and I believe he was some sort of police officer and became well acquainted with the hill people.

Though a work of fiction, it is based on the authors knowledge and experiences with these people.

  4. My Desert Eagle was not bad at all as far as recoil, it was however, essentially a single shot pistol as it was very likely unlikely to return to battery.

I have complete faith that the Anaconda will fire each and every time I pull the trigger.

Commercial real estate (CRE) is really screwed for several reasons, including Work From Home, the depression we are in and the disaster of demonrat run major cities.  I had some money in CRE funds, recommended by my broker, and I told him to dump all CRE some time ago, taking the hit then.  I also told him to dump all Blackrock run funds.

There are major rumors that the central banks are all loading up on gold, and have been for some time.  I was wondering why the price never really moved for so long, despite major buying like that.  The spike now may indicate that they are done buying and suppressing the actual price.  Don't know.  Only thing you CAN say is that an ounce of gold has always had value and will always have value, and that value is basically unchanged over the few thousands of years of our recorded history.

Supply and demand. As long as there is a high demand for a product the price will be up. Once the market becomes saturated, the price will begin to drop.

  6. I think Biden is going to win in November.  I have been reading that a lot of conservatives hate Trump more than than they hate Biden.

As much as I despise Biden and his ilk, I believe more than half of America seems to like the demented old criminal. And I can't see all those anti-Trumpers, currently in powerful positions, will peaceably just go away. I don't see the gangsters in the FBI or Homeland just giving up. They will not allow Trump to win. Biden has publicly promised his people, they will not allow.

I agree with both you guys.  Besides the decline in milsurps, etc., face book took a big toll on the forums.  I still remember when e-mail lists were the thing.  And before that, there were 2, count 'em 2, forums on the internet, then called DARPAnet.  One in Mississippi and one at MIT.  You had to TELNET to them once you connected into the net on a dialup through a local university.

And, yeah, the feds (all of them) don't need logins to see the forums, but I think it makes it easier for them.  Maybe not.  FYI, I knew a guy that ran a department at AT&T back in the 80's.  As a clue into his responsibility level:  His budget for his department was $6 million.  A month.  He told me back then that all conversations could be "recreated."  That is, played back.  It was all digital then, and all stored.

Consider this, they were collecting millions of terabytes per second during the Bush - Obama era, how much has technology advanced in the last 8 years.

We have a lot of members, or accounts, that never post, just exist in the background.  I wonder how many of those are feds just registering to get a full look into the site, although we don't have any members only parts that I know of. A lot of those could have been spam accounts too.

    They don't need a membership.

You guys should watch this movie, "Citizenfour" The amount of surveillance is staggering, and this was more than 10 years ago.

With the corrupt government we have now,  and a openly weaponized FBI and intelligence community, I can't even fathom what they're doing these days.

I strongly believe the left will take Trump out before letting him back into the white house.

  9. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that, most all of us, here in this forum and many like it, despise Biden.

However, if you venture away from our conservative based web sites, you'll see there are huge numbers of people who like Biden, and his policies.

I am the "OLD GUY" at my place of work so I don't really socialize with my coworkers, but I hear them talking and many are Biden supporters.

Many young voters were not even born when 9/11 happened. They don't know about the USA before the Patriot Act. They don't know that it's not okay for the president to  send the FBI to search the home of a former president. They don't know it's not okay for the president to have his opposition arrested. They think it okay to to pretend to be a gender other than how they were born.  They have no recollection of when being a member of the NRA was a thing to be proud of. This is what they're being taught in school by leftist teachers from the time they're 5 or 6 years old.

Now I could be wrong about all this, and no one would be happier to see the corrupt government officials jailed, and conservatives who love this republic, elected to the presidency and legislature. Regretfully, I believe that's a fairy tale that won't come true in my life time.
