  1. Tinkerfive. What you are describing sounds like Paradox Rifleing to me. There are on sharp corners for fouling to build up in. I have a Kahr K9 that has this rifeling. Bob
  2. Both of mine are the same as your's. Bob
  3. Gents, The purpose of the notches in the internal ring is for machining. The rail ways are broached in the action. Origionaly there was only one notch ( c-ring). The scecond notch was added as a way to cut costs of machining ( h-ring). Bob
  4. Z1r, What is the radius where the shank goes from round to octagon? Bob
  5. Hey Z1r, How about sharing the dimentions on that barrel. If you have any pics of the set up I would like to see them. Great job!
  6. Thanks for the additional pics. Nice rifle. Bob
  7. Hey ken98k, How about some more pics. Don't just tease us. Bob
  8. Vald, The freischutz stock can be slimmed down quite a bit. As it comes from Great American the side panels can be scaled down and the schnable more graceful. Not to critize Dirtyjims stock. I would like to make the stock proportions as the Germans did. As to the steel but plate thats what I have in mind. Express sights are a definate, probably three leaves. Bob
  9. Hey Z, Did you ever finnish the octagan barrel project? Bob
  10. Thanks Z1r, Midway has a Shilen .257 barrel blank on sale for around $130.00. I may try to do an octagon barrel. I want to replicate an early German sporter with an express sight, barrel mount sling swivel, and DST's. Maybe throw in a shotgun trigger guard. I have been looking at Great American Gun Stocks Freischutz Classic stock in English walnut. Opinions. Thanks, Bob
  11. Hi guys, What is the best twist rate for the .257 Roberts, with all buttet weights? I see twist rates in 10, 12, and 14. Conmtemplating a .257 Roberts on a Kar 98. What do you think of Shilen barrels? Thuoghts and opinions please. Thanks, Bob
  12. Hey guys, I don't know about the owner of Kahr, but they make a well engineered product. The fit and finnish is execellent. I have an all stainless K9 with the black coating. I love it. The only thing I don't like is that it's a pain to field strip. Bob
  13. Actually the Withworth thread series is 55 degrees. Bob
  14. Thanks for the input guys. I have'nt had a chance to look at it yet. I went back to work after a shoulder surgery and have been busy. I am training on a CNC lathe after being a machinist for over thirty years. The damn thing is making me look bad. I have'nt run this much scrap in years! Bob
  15. Hey guys, I'm having a problem with my SKS. When shooting the magizine falls open after four or five shots. It did this before I installed a Wolfe spring kit and still does it. Has anyone else had this problem? What s the fix? Opinions? Thanks, Bob
  16. Bob58, I'll throw in my 2 cents. As far as the left side flute, I would not do it. The flute to clear the right thumb will look good. Just my opinion. Bob
  17. LL, Nice Siamese Mauser. But what is 25AKI? That's a new one on me. Bob
  18. Buses don't have legs..................... Bob
  19. Thanks, again Spiris. I think that the only way to get away from the muzzle blast problem is to go to reduced loads with cast bullets. Lots of people like cast bullets but not me. I think I'll try the AA3100 at the starting load of 45 grians. Thank you all for your input. All comments are welcome. Bob
  20. Thank Spiris, My Accurate reloaders guide shows the same data. What is the test rifle and barrel lenght in your Lee book? The Lyman 47th edition list 38 to 47.6 with AA3100. Thats one of the reason I am looking for diffrent data.
  21. Thanks Brendon. What Sierra load book do you have? My 3rd edition Sierra book (1989) uses loads tested in a model 95 Mauser with a 29" barrel. My Lyman 47th edition (1997) also use a Mauser 95 with a 29" barrel. Does anyone have any data using the Model 98 as the test rifle? I know liability issues. Bob
