  1. Thank you Horsefly for reminding of that Bolt handle... I had forgotten... The Silicone paste may be what I use after all too... I would like to see one Completed, Please. Don; No mill here... but decent Drill press... I understand "glue" base down... Makes sense... Also hear that folks drill and tap one... then screw it home, then do the rest!!! You cats been lots of help and encouragement... Thanks... As an aside, Thinking of offing this K.Kale... One I do Not apparently "Need"... and I "Need" a Hornet... me thinks!!! Unless we get the reamer Co-Op Up!!!
  2. It sure came out nice... I like it lots.. that scope is indeed low... at first glance, i would have guessed the Handle was going to interfere... Glad it turned out so well for you...Good Work!!! One day I will have something worth showing off....Maybe!!! LOL
  3. Exactly what I was asking... Thanks... Off I go with renewed confidence... Luckily, my bolt handle is not bent that far!!! Odd thing about Spanish 1916's... no two seem to have the same exact bolt handle bend!!!! One thing... your "root" on handle seems quite tall... did it require taller scope rings??? Thank you much for the response...
  4. First step... Drill and tap. Since I do Not own a "jig" , has anyone simply used a steel one piece (Redfield twist in style) scope mount as a "guide" ?? Second step... Bolt handle. Has anyone had any luck cutting the K98 (bent) style handle off, then turning it over and welding it back on??? Finally... What is the best heat sink for welding/swaging bolt handles.. Feel like a newby here... but.. may as well ask before I Act!!! Never did any Bolt modification, always hired that out... Drill and tap??? Only to repair former owner mistakes...
  5. Certainly No Reason for Sorry!! Good to Know you have one for a large ring... I may need to Rent that sucker... prolly yet this winter!!
  6. I will maybe source another shroud and go with valve grind compound!! Have access to Lathe, maybe should whittle something out???
  7. ^^ that is a heat synch for bolt welding or modifying... I do Not feel it should be used for thread chasing.
  8. No Pic on this end... But, if it looks like it will chase threads.. I would love to try it.. I would try the Valve grinding compound, (like with a Barrel) but.. I would only do that with one that they were gonna stay mated to.. if it cleans up...then maybe another shroud.. It does start... goes a ways then gets exceedingly Tight!! Drop me a PM with Cost of Shipping... I believe you gots the address...But... LMK Thanks..
  9. Anyone have a home shop method to chase the internal "buttress" thread inside of a Small Ring Bolt?? Acquired one from a friend that was probably misheated... when modifying the bolt.. the Shroud will Not screw in... None around here will!!! Or... I will cut the handle off (it is a decent store bought example).. and toss the bolt I guess!!! Thanks
  10. Midway does indeed notify ...If...they get what you are looking for in stock.. I once knew who made the Adams Bennett barrels... but, of course... I forgot CRS
  11. Looking Small Ring??? Maybe me, and others can be of help!!!
  12. Don gots it... Demand seems extremely low... I would not stock any either...
  13. People do Not wander around our Property... It is an Active Shooting Range, and Everyone Knows it... Helps to Not have neighbors very close!!!
  14. Dr; I know exactly what yer saying!!! I also joined in this year testing a "New" Cast Boolit!!!!! Hope to "test" a "Fresh" 8mm soon!!!!
  15. LOL low 40's here.. no white stuff since I fixed the Plow Truck!!!!!
  16. I see those from time to time... I will help ya look
  17. Right back at you...and Yours... Out in my part of the Rhubarb Patch, we never quit saying stuff like Merry Christmas...In fact if anyone ...especially thoise elected to Serve, tells us Not to do or Say something...Guess what we Do!!!!!
  18. I have been inletting the "head" of casings into various arms around and about... Note... takes a bit to eat thru the web on the typical case, with yer dremel cutoff!!! and I use Seal-All for adhesive..
  19. Hmmm Shoveling Manure paid OK... when yer under 12YO it was a fortune!!! But, Driving a tractor pulling an asparagus cart was more lucrative... tho very Boring. Still needed to be home for Cow Milking...twice a Day... paid room and board I guess!!!! Milked them buggers till I was Drafted!!! Came home on leave.... cows were Gone!!!! Havent Pulled no Udders since!!!!!
  20. Now... Where the hell is the "like" button???? we know these truths to be self evident!!!!
  21. I think the handguard will come into it.. enough for this particular project.. Now I can find rear retainer and front barrelband/bayonet lug... But was hoping someone had "left overs" from a sporter project!!!
  22. I will be trying that in about a moment.. on the slightly too long one???? The Turk K.Kale. I will look at that one later.. Thanks for the encouragement!!
  23. Welp...checking more carefully.. The reason the Spanish 1916 handguard appears too wide... it must have split back at the Retainer..and "spread her cheeks" when someone glued it.. probably why it came sans retainer as well!!!
  24. Howdy y'all I have a couple Mausers that I have decided I would rather keep at least close to original..instead of sporting them.. One K.Kale Turk...the other a 1916 Spanish Oviedo.. Both need Front Bands (bayonet lugs) Both have handguards...and Neither fits correctly... Close... but Nope The Oviedo handguard even looks the correct wood and tone.. but...about 1/4 inch too Wide??? Odd to me... but maybe someone has a clue it didn't fit the "band" or whatever ya call that "ring" that captures the rear of the handguard either.. so... Now...I assume I have lost that sucker forever!!!! The K.Kale handguard seems almost 1/4 of an inch too long!!! Not gonna go together like that!! Oh, And the K.Kale came up missing a front band (bayonet lug) as well. Sure beats me what I done with those... but...They are MIA.. Any Help... even identification of misfitting parts, is much appreciated.. I do Not need to sport these pieces..so...shooting decorations they become.. Thanks Much in Advance
  25. I hear ya on the cost... I simply do not get all warm and fuzzy about what is available... I feel the handmade stuff can have "Style"... Just Me
