  1. Then again... If ya go ahead and cut it up... all the other ones can increase in value as supply just went Down... Just thinkin out loud..
  2. Something I never looked into.. But we all know Swedish steel is Superior to German...and of Course 1916 Oviedo's from Spain are dead soft...Right??? Drill and tap one and LMK....
  3. Sounds like the Military trigger on a model 93-95... I thought the Swede might be Different??
  4. Well Done... but, Many a poster on various K98 Mauser forums use the term Franken-Mauser, or Franken-Rifle... the serious collectors throw that at any "Lesser" than Pristine, K-98... Just Sayin... tho yours certainly Qualifies... to them cats any RC does also!!
  5. My Daughter in law, had her Puter taken "Hostage" not that long ago... called me crying alligator tears... I told her... "Shut it Off" unbelievable how pissed them cats was...as they was on the Phone by then.. I got to their house after awhile... fired their PC up with my live version of Linux!!! Cleaned it all up and Evicted the "Spys"... no more Problem Since!!! This really isn't Rocket Science!!! Push the On/Off button to Off!!!! Or... Duh!!! UnPlug!!! Then Deal with the pricks!!! really quite simple... even for a Hickerbilly like Myself!!!
  6. Come on... It is an Authentic 98K... that is obviously a Collectors piece.... Where is Mitchells Mausers when ya need em???
  7. Only times my Mausers won't light a primer is 1) if the shroud is not fully seated...ie screwed in all the way. 2)firing pin tip broken off... I have replaced the business end, on more than a few 3) the shroud and striker/cocking piece, are mismatched, and the firing pin cannot go far enough forward to hit the primer properly (light strikes), check by unscrewing shroud 1/4 turn and look at/measure (as I recall about 50 to 60 thou) firing pin protrusion... Tip; the edge of my bench is where I "catch" the cocking piece to place the bolt into the "firing position", and back to "Safe" Good luck, and LMK... If I had it in my hand... we would be done right now... Wait... One more... I have had so much cosmoline in the bolt body that you could Watch the Cocking piece Sloooowwwly slide forward!!!! No Worky
  8. Prolly help... but...Not being a fan of .270 anyway.. Gone from my world!!! Actually I wish that K.Kale was a large ring, as I have one really nice bore 8X57 barrel... and the 8X57 is No Slouch!!! I thank everyone for the input
  9. I myself do Not come around often... just killin time in the "down time" If there was ever a time to sell anything that goes "bang"... this may be it!!!! Please post here first.... ya never know...
  10. yea, but, someone... maybe Not here, was offering Very Nice, bolt handles... Even Spoons!!! I also would like input on this subject!! Not StoreBought...Thanks
  11. May Not be popular, but.. I dislike heavy-handed moderation. Yet I enjoy cast bullet conversations.. Please Share your Best Experiences, with cast bullet forums.. If it is right Here.. welp... Not very active!!! But... I am Willing to Try!!!
  12. Good Info... Will use as Template if I cannot source one.
  13. I'm Gonna try it... Bone Knives and Bear Skins style, Nuthin Store bought!!!
  14. Am I all wet in assuming that a Mauser can be Single stack using fillers on side, and a differemt/modified follower??? Thinking sheet metal for sides/Lips!!!!
  15. +1 on Johnsons paste wax... and... I have been using Saran Wrap... never stick that crap...
  16. It shoots Surprisingly well.. I was Pleasantly Surprised with All of the results..
  17. BO?? That Blackout my son talks of??? the 300 Whisper I believe?? I gots one... but, mine is called a 7.62X 39 Anyway... I was just Bragging about my newfound ability to Mimic 22rf out of a Neglected piece of iron!!! The Grandson thinks I'm "All That" so... I'll take that!
  18. Been doing a 55 [or so] gr cast over about 8 gr of Unique in my 222 Contender ...forever... love it... Certainly hotter than 22rf tho. I do Not wish to damage our reactive targets...and so.... 22RF ballistics are the Goal!! We can obtain some powders here and there.. Primers???? Not so Much. and when primers come available... they only have what I do Not need... I refuse to fuel the Fire by purchasing stuff that I do Not Need... Like Last couple of Scenarios... this too shall pass... remember toilet paper???? Sheesh... I hope some A-Hole is Eating his hoarded TP right now!!!!
  19. No, I do Not post Much, But had to share my 22RF alternative. With the current state of price, vs availability of 22rf ammo. I need to keep my young Grandson shooting.. Reactive 22RF targets.. Welp. by Accident.. I have a 1916/m93 Mauser with a short 300 Savage barrel on it. Essentially useless, however you look at it...and since I shoot 99% cast projectiles... this one is little used. Revelation!!! Prime and charge with 3.0 gr of Red Dot [still available at our Sporting goods stores at about $26 to $30, a pound, and cheaper as "Promo"] a then stick a 0 Buckshot Ball in the neck. Hint, if you seat with something "flat" like a 44 Mag seater stem, you can get very Consistent Loads. Dip the exposed ball end, in LLA, and have more fun than I have had, in a very long time!!! Best Part.. my particular buckshot weighs up at 43Grains...and out of My Mauser... achieves 1200 FPS even!!! Prints very nice Groups Indeed... a Plus!!! Pretty much... 22RF NO? Yes... Bigger Hole in Paper, and very satisfying "slap" on Steel HTH someone... I am having a blast!!!!
  20. Lucky ,me... My Barrel will Not be leaving this Receiver in the near future... Everyone who shoots it... my grandson Included... figures out that whatever makes you "miss", it is Not The Rifle!!!! Next best to the 22rf barrel on the Contender!!!!
  21. Our county really has it "Going On"... appointment Only, and only so many folks even allowed in the Parking Lot...
  22. IDK But, They All Gots it.... To Me it is a Treble Hook...But?????
  23. Welp Us Hickerbillys had a gun show last weekend... availability was Excellent... price???? not the best, but, those who could afford it had a Selection.. I had a chance to sell every 22 Hornet I had (quite some pile) But, I had Not brought them... Oh Well.... Patience Grasshopper.... This too Shall Pass... I only bought one box of 50 22RF... because it was expensive at $5!!! My Grandson will shoot that up this weekend tho, so, All Good
