  1. Went to our place at Rocksprigs TX this weekend and got a pig with the Whelen I built with the help of ya'll. Isaw 3 small 8 pointers and a few spikes. Won't get out there till later this month as I'm going to Manitoba On the 18th With my Whelen. Let ya'll know how I do.

  2. Ihad a P-64 and liked it but I got a good deal on a comercial Mak. Igot rid of the P-64 and kept the Mak. The Mak seemed easier to shoot and more accurate to me. Alittle bigger but holds 2 more rounds. This one was brandnew Bakail. Igot it for 160 and plan on keepping it in my truck. I If I ever get around to getting my concealed license.

  3. I forgot to mention my other brother has 35ac. in Utopia. In Jan. We are going to frame his house. He plans on movng out there From San Antonio when it's finished. My wifes nephew is also very familiar with Utopia. His good friend runs the feed store or general store in town. Beautiful country.

  4. Mike, is your lease in the hill coutry if so where abouts. My brothers and I have a place in Rocksprings and one of them has a little place in Leakey. The place in Leakey has Axis , Sika and Auodad. Went out last week to take appliances out to the little house he built and saw Sika buck and some Aoudad. Nice and green out there from all the rain we have had.

  5. I have a Turk I was thinking about and was wondering if the short cartridge would cause any feeding problems. I cycled a 22-250 cartrdge through it and it works if it's in the back of the mag. Is it doable or a bad idea? the reason being I saw a barrel on E-bay threaded for a turk. I f not I may save some money and go with 6mm but I'll probably have to get a blank and have a smith fit it.

  6. As of right now I'm still working up loads and the 225 sierras touch the lands at approx. 3.350. With my mag. @3.310 I've been loading COL 3.300 which leaves me about.05 off the lands. On my other rifles I've found in the neighborhood of.01 or there abouts off the lands works best. It may not be the case with the Whelen but if they do work a little better closer to the lands I wanted to see how much trouble it would be to lengthen the mag.

    Thanks fellas

  7. Sonic, First off very nice looking rifle. I got a 44 all the metal is near perfect but the wood not that great. The open sights are a bit fuzzy and I'm not that crzzy about the cantalever mounts. How did you go about D&T for the mount? Where did you get the stock? It really looks good from what I can seee of it. Who did the bolt and if not you do you mind telling me who and how much. I only paid $50 for it but I started reloading for it and have grown to like it. As it is though with the sights set as low asit goes I'm still 6" high at 100yds. Again nice job.
