  1. Thanks Jerry, Ive only started to scratch the surface of my family. Luckly I found alot online by kin who had quite an extensive geneaolgy already completed of my maternal grandfathers line. In his line Matthias Gish was the first one in this country from Germany he landed in Lebanon Pa in 1733 Much earlier than I always thought. His grandson left Pa (took his father with him) and setteled in Virginia in 1792 in the Roanoke, Vinton, Daleville areas. Thats where the four branches of my Mothers line, all come from. The Gish's, Ellers's, Brubaker's, and Miller's many of whom served in the Confederacy. The one I registered with the SCV, Is my G.G.G Grandaddy Elias Brubaker, Who served in the 157th Virigina Militia. The interesting thing was when they SCV were confirming my lineage. He asked me if i had kin that served in Texas. He found an Elisha T. Gish that served in the 1st Battalion Texas Sharp Shooters. I haven't tryed tracing him yet but that would be a hoot if I had Kinship with a Texan! It would almost make me feel legitimate : ) The camp I registered with is Camp 1648 Colonel Middleton Tate Johnson in Arlington. I guess there is a camp closer to me in Bedford. The recruiter suggested I not go with that camp because they have joint meetings with the "Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War" he felt it wasnt right to be fraternizing with Yankee's LOL. I've rambled enough hope i didn't bore you too much this family research is addicting. Tom Thanks Jason, Im really looking forward to it all. The area camps here will be in a parade at the Fort Worth Stockyards. January 13th im looking forward to going. Tom

  3. This weather is great. My 7yo was happier than a pig in slop. He was released from school 2 hours early and spent the rest of the day with his dog playing in the yard with the light snow and sleet. Tom
  4. Karl, I don't know if you ever make it into Orange County? I know when I lived in Ca real BP was hard to find. There is a store in Anaheim Walker47 that sells it. http://www.walker47.com/ So if you don't have any luck near you. You might give them a try. Its a fun store to go to lots of BP guns to look at. At least a couple years ago it was that way? Tom

  8. Jerry, At my sister and brother-inlaws place they have an aerobic septic system. The man who does the mantainence on it, told them to put a couple insecticide cattle ear tags in the pump housing to keep the fire ants out. They went up to the feed store up on 377 and bought some. I wonder if its ok to put them in an AC condenser? I had a large mound next to mine and they were also going up into the foundation of the house almost looked like subterainian termites there were dirt trails that almost looked like mud tubes. I may try those hang tags in the AC. Tom

  10. 70% Dixie. Just under the Mason-Dixon Line. I guess thats to be expected when my branch of the family left Virgina and the carpet baggers behind after the war for Southern Independence. then settling in California. Oh Well. Tom

  23. Hope it works out for you Tony. When dealing with lazy union employees (im not saying all are lazy just referring to the ones who are) It can be an up hill battle to motivate them. My Wife now manages other management employees and she is much happier, Now that she has no dealings with the Union. Tom
