  1. I couldn't believe my luck. I was expecting a long project when in reality she just needed a good bath. I plan to keep it as it is, just that small stock issuse by the cleaning rod channel needs addressing. I'm glad I took the plunge. Tom
  2. I'm working on it asap i can hardley stand the wait. My .577/450 die set came in, I still need to hunt down brass, It really was an impulse buy so Im learning as I go. I will post pics or video when she roars back to life after her long nap. Tom
  3. I have her cleaned up and put back together. I added the after photos to the album. http://www.sporterizing.com/index.php?showtopic=10767 Karl, thanks I will take a look at those. Tom
  4. I have her cleaned up and put back together. I will mess with the stock more later. I added the after photos to the album. Tom
  5. Thanks Karl. I have the pictures posted now. http://www.sporterizing.com/index.php?showtopic=10767 Tom
  6. I will have to check in to 45-70 If not I may break down and get 20 of the 577/450 shells until the 24 gauge brass comes in. Pictures are now posted. Tom
  7. "http://s3.photobucket.com/user/Shootertom/embed/slideshow/Martini%20Henry%20from%20IMA" Better than I expected, There is no visable rust or pitting that I can see so far. So as long as there are no suprises under the stock I did well. All parts are there (screws, pins, swivels. etc.) Action moves freely. A small crack at the cleaning rod channel and a wrist repair that looks like a bug got to it or dry rot nothing to complain about. Tom
  8. Dr. Hess I plan on it. I just did a quick overall check of the rifle as i was on my way out the door. IMA will let you return a rifle as long as you haven't cleaned it. I wanted to make sure the rifling looked good. I ordered a set of dies the same day I ordered the rifle. I planned to resize 24 gauge shotgun brass but everyone is sold out. I can buy 577/450 brass but it runs $129.00 per 20. Tom
  9. It's here. As I was opening the box I held my breath, expecting the worse and i was very suprised and pleased no visable rust! Gobs of grease, a very minor crack on the cleaning rod channel that looks recent from handling. It has a minor wrist repair. I swabbed out the first two inches of the bore from the muzzle and the rifling looks good and the action moves freely. it's a keeper its dated 1887. I will get some pictures up as soon as I can. Tom
  10. Ken, A Martini trap gun sounds interesting. Az, no you are not the only one with an evil twin. Somehow when the Wife discovers the unauthorized procurement, he is never around to explain himself. The rifle will be here tomorrow, I hope it's a decent one. Tom
  11. Nice to see you back it's been a long time. Tom
  12. Thanks Karl, I hope so. Before I knew what happened my evil twin placed the order. Dr. Hess it is 450.00 for an the untouched one. I think for a pre-cleaned one they are 675.00. I took a chance and rolled the dice on the untouched. From what i've read the 1885 long lever's are the best bet on getting a decent rifle. It was hard to not want to add the 1864 Snider to the order as well. http://www.ima-usa.com/original-british-p-1885-martini-henry-mkiv-long-lever-rifle-untouched-condition.html Tom
  13. I ordered an untouched 1885 Martini Henry MKIV long lever from IMA. The journey begins.... i will post photos in the Black Powder Cartridge & Cowboy Shooting forum when it recieve it. Tom
  14. I find lots of free books etc on: https://archive.org/ They have Custers book via audio and print, kindle, pdf. etc. https://archive.org/search.php?query=My%20life%20on%20the%20plains&page=1 Tom
  15. We stop them by not letting them in period. "You are banned from entry to our Nation because you belong to a, (race / religion / nation) that has been deemed to cause us harm." If their is a necessary reason that someone from those demographics need entry for bussiness etc. They are to be monitored 24/7 with an escort. When my 89 year old blue eyed German Mother is fondled and frisked by a chewing gum smacking sheboon they are not out to protect anyone. What the TSA mission is, It is for submission training that your rights guaranteed by the Constitution can be revoked for your "safety" bend over and take it from you overloards. If my Mother ever needs to traval again, I will have her wear a Burka so she will not be bothered and waved through. Unfortunately, Tom doesn't rule things and White little old Ladies and Children will continue to have their genitals fondled before they can go see Micky Mouse. Tom
  16. I keep missing the ball, there is one here in north Texas. They just moved from Dallas to Frisco back in August. That would have really been something to watch.
  17. That is something I would like to see. I didn't realize any still existed, I would have went and saw that during my many trips to the gunshows there. Tom
  18. A couple years ago my Son with the neighborhood kids were playing in the city park across the street, having a airsoft war. At one point the police pulled in on their regular patrol they got out and talked to them. They told them to make sure all their guns had the orange tip in place so no one would mistake it for a real rifle and then they went on their way. Tom
  19. A neighbor told me today the Rose Parade had a homo wedding on a float.
  20. We got hit with an extra 650.00 on our annual cost of coverage for having a "Cadillac policy" I guess it's shame on us for taking care of ourselves. Tom
  21. Merry Christmas Karl, To you and the Hippy and to everyone else here. Tom
  22. Here is his protege the current president of South Africa Jacob Zuma. There will be a blood bath for the White South Africans and Homeboy in the White House will do nothing. You won't see Bono or Danny Glover doing chairty work or concerts for them neither.
