Just got home from hunting trip and my Detroit Leather Shop swivel order was here from Amazon. Only had one swivel in the bag inside the Amazon bag. The original bag had been opened. Contacted Detroit Leather and immediately got a reply asking for my address to sent another. Great service and the all steel American Made swivel are hum-dinger. The make Uncle Mikes look and feel like a Cracker Jack prize.

Yep, those are dandy’s. Wish I had known about them sooner and saved lots of searching. Amazon has them so I have free shipping. Suppose to get the Detroit Leather swivels today, so a QA report will be coming.

I’m dedicated to Made in America and found these sling swivels sold by Detroit Leather Shop that supposedly are Made in USA. About 5 bucks more than Uncle Mikes Chink Made swivels. Broke one yesterday putting it on my Frankin rifle. I’d of been mule-lipped if it had broken on a hunt or even just letting the rifle hit the ground.

We got Govt. supplied Covid test in mail today. Made in China.

I’ve never done it ,but now with the cost and rarity of affordable barrels it’s something I have to do. I’d like to hear what you cats use and what equipment it takes to coat a rifle. I have a typical 1908 Brazilian pitted barrel outside with new looking riflings. My first 1908 wasn’t so nice inside ,but outside the pits filed out. This one way better inside but with deeper pits. The first turned out to be a nail driver, so have high hopes for this’un too. I will build curing ovens or anything it takes for a good finish. Just need you dudes tutoring. I’m a lefty and prefer RH bolt guns. I have a Ranger Arms .270 and Weatherby 7Mag. In LH actions but my go-to rifle is a Husqvarna .308 I’ve had over 40 years. The shortage of actions and barrels forced me to finish projects I’ve been setting on for years. The collectors can kiss my goat-smelling arse if shaming me for sporterizing a Mauser that may have shot at my Grandpas and uncles. Cool to give weapons of war a new purpose.

I used a B-Square blank today I got off EBay for 17.00 also. Worked great. Solved a problem with some weird spaced holes.

I’ve been filling cylinder with brake fluid for a week now. I pulled the motor off and stood it on its end and every morning fill it up with brake fluid. It leaks past the rings but still can’t spin it. Fixin to do a complete tear-down.

Ya, about 45 years. It’s a barn find but found outside barn, not in. Been working on unsticking engine but no luck yet.

The #15013 is the one I settled on but couldn’t find any info if it was made for charger hump. One on eBay now for 17.00 that I’ll order now if the hump doesn’t have to be removed. My brothers pawn shop find that has Weaver Remington pump action mounts on it. You orta see the jerry-rigged rear mount. Thanks,Jerry.

Having pure helll finding a scope mount for a Spanish 1916 that’s drilled for a one piece. Would anyone have a part number for any brand. I would use a blank mount if I had one. I sure wanted to use Weaver style rings but can’t be choosy.

The price of the few barrels available has finally got me to rethinking the Mauser hobby. The fun is gone seeing barrels 300.00-600.00 bucks. Boyd stocks 175.00,Timney trigger 100.00, bolt handles 50.00, safety 50.00, scope mount,rings, and scope 275.00, and not counting tools at least a 100.00 for glues, oil, blue chemicals, sand paper and cleaning supplies. Maybe restoring old guns is in the future. They will at least keep me outta the pool halls.

I have always wanted a Hornet too. Think I’d be cool to get a H&R single shot with the full stock (can’t spell Manlicher) and completely refinish. Polish out metal for killer blue job and restock with nice walnut. Only thing wrong with my idea is the 100.00 donor rifles are now 5 to 600.00 bucks and hard to find.
