Hi Paul, nice shooting and welcome. Is the only place you can get the rock solid mount directly from them or is there other places that sell them? I've been to their website and they want like 100 bucks plus shipping. I know they are about the best thing going right now for the MN. Might just have to bite the bullet.

Just be sure and wear safety glasses with further testing. Eyes are kinda hard to replace. Good luck

Looks good. Are you going to drill and tap it and weld on a new handle? I forged the bolt handle on one for a guy and had to trim the bridge so the bent handle would clear. He also wanted me to make the knob round because it reminded him too much of a testicle . I guess the customer is always right Roger

The shoulder is a little further forward on an 8x57 case resulting in a shorter neck as compared to the 7x57.

That ought to stop most any bullet.

I finally got around to start load testing. It liked the 150 gr Hornady the best with several groups coming in under an in. Second best groups were with the 175 gr. Sierra with several groups just over an in. It didn't care for the 180 gr Nosler BT or the 170 gr Speer hot core. I'll have to get some blood on it this upcoming hunting season. Roger

What you have is a Turk 93 small ring mauser most probably in 8x57, but, the chambering needs to be confirmed, bore condition and headspace checked before firing.

That's great! I've used four A&B barrels in the past (257 R, 6.5x55,7x57, and 35 Whelen) and all will do MOA or better. Keep up the good work. Roger

Made some more progress. It came in at 8.5 lbs. as it is in the pictures. Still haven't decided on which safety I'm going to go with. Other than that, all I have left is to polish and blue the grip cap and I want to polish the bolt up a little more. I tried 6 different stains that I had on hand on the scrap pieces and colonial maple is what I ended up using. It brought the figure out more that any of the rest of them. After it dried a couple of days, I applied a tru-oil finish. I think I stopped at 6 coats using 0000 steel wool in between coats. Anyway, here's the pics:
