  1. lol, jason i hear ya, mine too. It was nice here today, 62. but we had heavy rains about all day. Kenak2, theres a house for sale right down the road from me. Brenden
  2. Didn't get a chance to call...never had anytime today. I know that manlicher is a very fine specimen. I'm leaning towards a k-kale in 257 bob improved Brenden
  3. Very nice looking gun, and to top it off, its a .35. gotta love it. Brenden
  4. Going to call first thing tomorrow...also found some barrled actions at samco....decisions decisions. 724wd, Just got off the phone w/rod..he told me he had ya one. Brenden
  5. Will do...Found one saturday for $175....bore shot, reciever shot, needed alot of tlc. I thought about it, i really did, i knew it was something but i passed. Anyway.....just checked out J&G....24/47's in execlent shape for 129. I'm buying one. Found some russians....a 91/30 for $59, a m44 for around the same...i'm buying them both. Also found some m-48 actions from sacro for $89.00, i'm buying one, and Tanglewood (Rod) just told me about some k-kales for around $90 at centry...guess what...i'm gonna get one. I'm going hard core here fellas, some major gun work gonna go on here. Sacro also has some nice husky's (sporters) in 9.3X57 for $165 w/ some cracked stocks, good lookin guns.....i'm starting to like them... Brenden
  6. Jerry, i have a kkk poster on my wall.....does that count? lol. I know i prob. shouldn't but its kinda funny with the wording and stuff...no abortion tools though..sorry to disappoint you. i was talking to my dad today, yes hes old school and i told him about putting duracoat on my next mauser project to which he replied.."those old guns shouldn't have that crap on them, they were made for blue and the trigger that was on them. All you do is alter them so much that in the end you have alot of money in them and don't have half of what you started with. Leave it like it is, thats what its made for!"......me on the other hand...i like to chop, and when i get done with something, its more than what i started with, its more functional, and its how i want the dam thing to be! don't get me wrong, my dad's a super guy, just doesn't understand or doesn't care i guess. Its ok though, opinions are like a-holes, everyone has one. I look at it like this, i'm learning, i'm staying out of trouble and off drugs or what ever out there these days, and most of all i'm having fun. Can't put a price tag on fun, can ya fellas?! Brenden
  7. jason, If you'll find me a good girl to be my valentine, i'll buy it for ya, and we'll both go take a tour, then we'll cut the rifle in half so its fair.lol. Brenden
  8. bert, no i havn't....would they have some complete actions? like to find a couple actions w/out barrels to add my own, and i think i'll just go with a complet gun instead of fighting the hassle of trying to find a rare as hens teeth intermideate bolt. I was wanting to sport a yugo 8mm anyway so may as well get the moldy money out.lol Brenden
  9. here inlays the problem.....I'm (almost) 20. A sporting shop down the road will order me in all the actions and recievers i want for a whoppin $5 extra, but a complete gun...boy oh boy do the bend you over. I go to gun shows, all the mausers i'm finding are 100 higher than they should be and are on their last leg, i mean complete no saving junk, and most are spanish/mex's. Not something i want to build off of. Numrich has barreled recievers for $70, and i'm dealing around trying to pick up bottom metal, and bolts. I can't find bolts anywhere, and their $62 on numrich. ouch. All well just a though, i may still pick up just one reciever or barreled reciever just to have on a rainy day. thanks all Brenden
  10. hello all. Numrich has some barrled recievers for the 24/47 and m48 and i've been thinking about buying a couple of them for some projects. MY dealer charges about $225 just to order me in a 47 and then i have left over wood and hardware that isn't much use to me. My question is, are these barrled recievers usually in good shape? And whats up with the yugo bolts, darn if i can find one. Anybody got a link to track down some of these rare birds? also if anybody's got any old 47 bolts for a decient price, i'm more than willing to take em off your hands. Also, i'll order a few 24/47's if anybody is intrested in buying the wood and hardware off of me. just a though. Ya'll have a good one. Brenden
  11. Congrads to both of you Karl and Jerry. I still often consider going into teaching, wish sometimes i would have changed my major to teaching instead of Environmental Science, all well i'm half through it so no need to turn back now. Any ways, good job, both of you must be stand up men. Brenden
  12. horse fly, i just sold an old browning cobra 2, for $25! had that thing forever, shot it about 6 times. I've got an old Bear recurve, a super mag 48 i believe, its a lefty cuz my dad bought it years ago and shot maybe 4 arrows through it, i can't use it cuz i'm right handed. I tell ya, my dream is to take a bear and a elk with a bow. I would love it. I started fletching my own arrows, and it makes a big diffrence. went to 2 inch vanes, accurcy is un-real. I use to shoot about 100 arrows a day, could crack my own arrows up to 50 yards. Now days with school and working, i shoot two weeks before season . i shouldn't do it but i do. wish i still was younger and had the time. responsibility sucks! I'd absoultly love for a few of us to get together and shoot bows or hunt deer/hogs/anything. When i get outta college, (two more years), we'll all have to get together and shoot, or hunt. hopefully both! Brenden
  13. 724wd, I live in the middle of no-wherevill, I never have had a stand stolen or vandled. I hunted off the ground for a year or so, had good luck, but also educated alot of deer. Just like gun hunting, find a good spot with a 30-40 yard shooting max and set your stand. The last day i bow hunted, i saw 18 deer. Hunted that stand for 3 weeks, with many back to back mornings. Never educated them Nothing wrong w/alluminum arrows. I used to use them. I just like carbon for the duribulity, and they don't bend, just break into tiny pieces.lol if ya do get into it, try the wasp 75 grain broadhead. Only a 1 inch cutting dia. but boy oh boy do they put them down in short order. Brenden
  14. mike, I'm always looking for a bow hunting partner....WV may be a drive for ya but it would be worth it 724wd, get super serious, nothing better than anxiously waiting in your tree stand an hour before daylight with a stick and string. And watching those deer walk directly under your stand and not knowing your there.....awww man i wanna go climb a tree now! Brenden
  15. Hello all. I didn't want to intrude on Mikes Elk hunt thread, so i though i'd post here. This is my first buck with a bow, taken this past archery season. 10 yard shot, he went 20 feet. Was a 3 year old spike, time to take him out. The bow was a darton apache that my dad bought for me over 6 years ago. I've got a new fire storm lite pse, but that old darton has alot of meaning to me since the greates man that ever walked bought it for me . Its taken 2 deer in the past 6 years. I don't shoot much, just enjoy watching God's creations. Any body else on here bow hunt? Brenden
  16. Racepres, i'll take into consideration what you said...my m48 is pretty nice, had to re-do the stock, polished up the bolt, and it was my first mauser...so i'm kinda fond to it. I gotta go pick up the 24/47 in another month or so...i'll be able to tell pretty quick which one i want to sport...i'm leaving it 8mm, just doing some bolt, trigger guard choppin, and stock work,,,,,and a new timmey or bold trigger brenden
  17. if you own it, do what you want. Now i tell ya, i have a very nice m48 that i put a scout mount on, and had to do some wood removal on the handguard. I felt bad for hurting my pride and joy:( ...so back to orgional. ...also i have a russian m44 that i restored, i know a 50 dollar gun but hey. But....i'm buying a 24/47 and a 91/30 to .........you guessed it...SPORTERIZE!!!!!!! and i'm gonna ruin all the historical value of them and i'm gonna love it! I just like to have one to keep like she was made, and one to play with. Nuthin wrong with that is there? I went to that site the other day, Ive never seen so many people so ignorant, aragorant, and just straight up a-holes. I can't see where its a plus to be a member of a site like that. Thats y i like this one so much....nice people that would help ya in a minute. Some good people on here, no fights and a-holes like the other site. Brenden a lamp karl....geeze at least make borris into a pretty tent stake, or a ball bat.lol
  18. Gentlemen, lets just all realize this, 1. A woman can never be sitisifed, no matter what you do. 2. You can't let a woman know you'r looking at her, you will then be a pervert or a sexual monster. 3. did i mention you can't satisfiy them cuz their ungreatful? this has been my expierence, thought i satisified her for 2.5 years, was engaged, provided for her, loved her, helped her w/money problems in college, she then paied me back by turning me into an alocholic and replacing me with someone else on her latter. Aren't they great!! Jimro- that site is kinda vaulger, but mostly truthful. The good news is, i'm young and i'm not tied down anymore which = more money for guns, more women, more beer, more fun!!!!!!!!! Brenden
  19. good to see you back mike. Thats some beautiful country out there. Dad's still gotta take me out there for my senior trip, after i get outta college (2 years left!!!!!) Nice animal you got, every one taken is a trophy to be proud of. Brenden

    Spanish Mauser

good looking gun. I'd keep her low pressure if your gonna convert her. 6.5x55 is a good round. Get ya a m48 or 24/47 and do your custom off of. (7mm-08,308,260) Brenden
  21. i know, more money to put in than what its worth. I'll prob. pass on the huber. I think i can grind a little bit here and there and make something work. key word think. looked at wangners idea, its not bad, but i'm not sold on it ither. Just looks kinda wierd to me, nobody would know but me, but me is enough. I might be able to live with what i got. Heck, lived with it this long. what type of mosin do you have, i've been lookin at buyin a 91/30 to trick out. Any comments on them? Brenden
  22. Thank you Jason. I've looked at the Huber's, $75 bucks is a good amount of cash to me for no more than you get. but really whats $75 bucks if you have what you want, and you start out w/ a $60 gun anyway? I'll look at the steve wagner report and maybe i can fab up something on my own, i've found these mosins to be pretty cool and simple, hence if you screw up, no biggie. My trigger moves about 6 feet give or take an inch, i'm getting used to it but just would like to have something a little better. well sir i thank ya. Take care. Brenden
  23. hello all. I found a good web site the other day after having problems of re-assembly of my m44 bolt. I'm a newbie to alot of things on here and i thank kenak2 for also providing me with this site. It covers common problems such as bolt assembly, and the unfortunate un-cocking of a bolt and one trying to shove it back into the reciever (i had this problem earlier today on my win model 70, and my cut up hands and lost religion show this). I though this would be a good site for all the other newbies, or for one just wanting some good reading material (they provide this as well). http://www.surplusrifle.com Its a good site and one worth visiting. Take care and good shooting. Brenden
  24. whats going on guyes? I've been bit by the mosin bug pretty bad here lately. Gonna do a sporter project here pretty soon and was wondering about triggers. I've seen the anti friction ones that sell for more than a russian's worth and don't want to go that route, so is there any aftermarkets or maybe a little modification that one could do? Also, the 91/30's, are they a good shooter? I've heard many say barn door accuracy. I've got a m44 thats accurate, but i don't want to get another one because of the premently attached bayonet holder (pia to cut off i'd say, any suggestions) or could i cut it off and mount a swivle sling attachment, by using the existing band that goes around the barrel to secure the bayo mount? Found a nice gutted bolt on e-gunparts thats bent, think i'll go that route instead of welding on a new one also. man i can't wait to get my income taxes back!!!! also, what kind of mod's can be done to the saftey, instead of cussin and tryin to pull it back, don't really want a ring on her ither. thanks all By the way, got the m44 re-assembled, cleaned the 50+ years of junk from inside the bolt, re-did the stock, blued the barrel, and gotta re-blue the reciever, and bayo-mount and she'll be done! It feels so darn good to see a project turning out good! Brenden
