  2. Kenak2, your a good man. I appericate your help. I found this site on the web last night as well and looked it over. Havn't put her back yet, but now that i have pretty pictures to go by its not a problem. Thanks a bunch. This is the first time i've disasembled a bolt.....ever, as you can tell. Gotta learn some how.lol Brenden
  3. I know your all thinkin, what in the world did he screw up now. lol. well i just thought i'd take my m44 apart, clean her up and see what all the bolt was about. I got it gutted no problem, but puttin the firein' pin back in her and the spring is the problem. Can't seem to get her lined back up, hence the problem of gettin the pin to screw back into the cocker, saftey knob. Thanks in advance. Brenden
  4. Don't know if they would have it or not but, e-gunparts.com, Numrich (or how ever its spelled). Ususally got everything one can think of. Good luck. Brenden
  5. Are these still in the surplus stream? I havn't seen any of these. LIke to have one to sporterize this summer. brenden

    Special Mauser?

think i'll bid on it heck, ive got $9,999.95 to throw around, I think i could make a few dollars profit on it. brenden
  8. were the finnish ones w/ a 308 bore? brenden
  9. I don't know why this guy does it. I think hes a dumbass myself. I'm not planning on doing it anythime soon so don't worry. Jason, have you had any expirence w/the .308 dia bullets in a .310-312? brenden
  10. welcome to the site!

  11. Heard a guy the other day saying he shot factory 308's through his Mosin. Is this guy blowing smoke or can it be done? I can't see where it would be safe or benificital, bolt isn't going to contact the shell for extraction, and plus the whole freakin diminsions of a 308 vs a 7.62X54 are completely diffrent. a major one being lenght..a whole case lenght of .100 diffrence? ( I think)? Also, how accurate is a .308 dia slug in a .312 bore? I figure it wouldn't be bench rest quality, but maybe accetable? Thought about tryin hornady 150 sst's in .308 dia. through it. Just wondering. Brenden
  12. LOL! ohh my goodnees. That's a good one. Brenden
  13. i think these new cars are what we are going to see from now on. Trucks with huge 8's in them are a thing of the past. I don't believe i'd want one of these cars though, only 75 mph, and thats prob. down hill! Maybe i'll buy the deluxe version, it comes with air bags and and a/c and heater. Maybe it'll hit 80? Brenden
  14. montea6b, I don't remember where i aimed, but it looked like i'd just hit a pillow. Wish i'd never shot at it now. We don't have many grouse around here these days. I've been watching the same two grouse for around 3 years. Never have seen any little ones. I put a post on here a while back. Got my 22/22mag last weekend. Its a hertiage arms. Nice gun, got a 9 inch barrel, and its a gem to pack around. Those coyotes better run now! Bert congrads on your purchase. I looked at the pa-63's and considered one, but the money was right on the 22/22mag. Plus its cheap and fun too shoot. I'm still lookin at the p-38's nice guns but a little high for my wallet. take care and good shooting! Brenden
  15. I just had an intersting expierance w/a yote not 30 mins ago. Dogs were barking, so i went out to look. My coon hound had a good sized yote bayed at the end of his chain, not 8 feet from the dog. I ran inside and grabed my shot gun and some 3in slayers, needless to say, no shot. I cannot believe that this yote came in 50 yards from my house. He may have been thinking...hmm walker coon hounds look tasty. Brenden
  16. well done sir. That is a fine example of a very nice gun. Love that stock. I've found that my little m44 that is orginal loves brown bear 203 grain er's. It amazes me just how accurate that it is at 200 yrds w/open sights. Brenden
  17. I agree w/ z1r and az on this one. I believe not in settling for less than you want, but everyone who owns a gun should have a good 8mm mauser, expecially if its sporterizied. This is where i started out. started w/a m48 yugo, striped the stock, took out all the nicks and scratches, re-blued, added a scope mount, and a scout style red dot. Simple enough, and cost efficient. I then decided i like what i could do or have done, so then came the custom .308. I'd suggest fooling around a litlle bit, re-do some old guns w/little value that you can afford to screw up on if you do. Then when you get good, re-do guns for other people. I've done this and made a good profit from it. Everything from a beat up remington 700 bdl to a colt 38 pistol. Its amazing how one can start out on an old single shot scatter gun, and learn enough to do the wood and metal work on a very nice first "custom gun". Then after you get one under your belt, and decide this is what you want and love to do, build a 25-06. Best gun i've ever owned. but do as you please, a specific gun/cal. combination is something one can take pride in, but i take alot of pride in my m48 that i "customized" brenden
  18. and this is what does make me go crazy. i have some old powder left, and az, i thought of mixing it w/ the new. i can understand where your coming from. I'll back er off a few and see what happenes, because i'm only about .5 from max. thanks all. Brenden
  19. Wfpack, I'm not an expert by anymeans and was in your shoes a few years ago. If you are to take your time with a low speed dremel or a hand tool, you will not mess up the wood. My first project, took me 7.5 hours to inlet the stock to my action. just take your time, if you cut a little, drop the action down in there and check it, a little wood shaving goes a long ways. another thing i would like to point out, and i'll get ridiculed for this, and i say again, i am no expert, stay away from the 260, and the 6.5x55. Now before anybody jumps down my throat, listen to what i say. If you reload, your set, or if you have vast amounts of money. 260 in my area is going by the way side, its even gettin hard to find brass. 6.5x55, brass is easily found, if you reload. 260 can be made from other brass, but then neck thickness is an issue that you may not want to f-with.but if you don't reload, be prepared to spend a fortune in shells in the 6.5x55. I cannot even find a box of ither at my local stores, and you have to special order which means $. you want a gun that will be around forever, if you like the short action, go w/a 308, 243, or 7mm-08. The best gun in my book is a 25-06, and you first mentioned you'd like a 25 cal. just a thought, but hey, you do your thing and be proud of what you have. I'm not knocking the 6.5 or 260, have considered them before, but i may not reload forever, but you may be able to find shells like crazy in your area. every place is diffrent. Take care and good shooting. Brenden
  20. hey guyes. shot the .243 yesturday with wonderful results. Imr 4350 is the $h*t in that gun. 41 grains provided about an 1inch a 100, 42- about 1/2 inch and 43 grains was 3 shots one hole. Loaded up 50 rounds for the neighbor boy last night, ran outta powder, got some today so now its time for me! Thanks to all of those that helped me find this wonder load. Brenden
  21. kenak2, I'm not saying you don't know what your talking about because you know more than me but is it a nessicity to re-harden the recoil lugs after laping or trueing? I've read books that say one doesn't have to. Just a thought. Walk me through your explanation. Brenden
  22. Hello all. Just got my new revolver. Its a hertiage arms 22/22mag, single action. Nice shooter. I got mine w/the walnut grips, 10in barrel, and blue finish, i'll try to show pics later. Dad got it for me, told me just to work it out by cutting brush and junk trees up the hollow. The way i see it, i get clear shots at deer and pay for my pistol at the same time! Brenden
