Tony, I really appericate you hosting this site. I would love to contrubiute to this by sending some money to help things stay up and running, but right now with me being in college, cash is a little tight. This summer if money is needed for anything i would gladly help.I'll be back to pipe lining and making the good cash by then. Brenden
  3. well done walnut. I'm proud of you man. You now own a very fine firearm. Like i've always said, put a piece of tape over the name and shoot a few guns, then see what you like Eldora, does your wife have any single sisters that are as giving as her? brenden
  4. loaded up some ammo this evening...imr 4350- 41grains-42-43grains...not much space left in shell after stuffin all that in there..we'll its plenty actually...just used to there being a void i guess. Gonna shoot tomorrow or friday weather premitting. hopefully all goes well. will post results. brenden
  5. hey AZ, thanks for the link. I used to want all the velocity i could have, thats why i got a 7mag. After it kicked the $h^t outta me with factory loads, i got into hand loading. My load for it is 60 grains imr 4350 w/a mag primer, federal cases, and a 140 sierria spt. Kick is alot less than factory, and its more accurate, 5 shots, 1/2 @100yrds. I just started reloading this summer, read all i could about it, talked to others then bought my press and dies. I absolutly love it. All my loads are well under max, i talked to a guy the other day and he said, "if my gun can't shoot max loads or a grain over, i wont have it!" i though to myself, man your not wraped to tight. I've shot alot of deer in my time with a 243 remington 700, and my t/c 7mag. None of those deer knew what cal. i was shooting, and all were as dead as dead could be. I'm gonna work up some loads w/imr 4350 in the 243, but i've been wanting to try hodgen powders as well so i'm on that site right now lookin around. Thanks a bunch az. I'll shot some loads tomorrow or friday and let you know the results. My shoulder is sore from yesturday, 20 rounds through the 7.62x54 is hard on me, but hey i love seeing the dirt fly Brenden
  6. congrads on all the guns and actions....i didn't get any thunder sticks...did get a real nice hard case to put a few of my prize rifles in. all well...i'll just have to treat myself to a gun Z1R, getting lost is half the fun in life....i never know where the hell i am! Brenden
  7. az, i've got some 4350 on hand, but hornady only uses H4350 so i have to start with the lowest load 39.8 or just an even 39 grains and work up. My cases are new never fired cases, and all primers stayed in the pocket and it holds a new primer well, so pressure wasn't too bad, things may have been ok, but knowing i'm over max, it worried me. I've pulled all bullets and ready to go on. My scope az, was a tasco that i had on a 7mm mag that took a beating and wouldn't hold on the mag, so i decided to give it a try on the .243. I'm allowed to blame the scope for this one, but i should have know as well it wasn't going to hold. I weigh every charge and make sure she's exact, i want prefection, not close enough. Thanks az. Spiris, hey thanks for the info. I thought about trying the 4064 just cuz it was listed and i need some anyway, but i'll work with some imr 4350 first. I use 4350 in my 7mm and have awsome results, 1/2 inch at 100 yards outta the t/c encore. tomme boy, thanks to you as well.
  8. Hello all. Got a problem and a question. I deserve to be ridiculed because of what i've done...its stupid. ok... got some 87 grain hornady hpbt for a 243. didn't have a hornady book a few days ago..(i do now) so i used my sierria book to find a load. I settled on imr 4895 36.0 and 37.0 grains, with the max being 37.8. I just used the data for the 90 gr fmjbt, and the 85 grain hp. My first load i shot was 36 grains and it shot good but i noticed a little more kick to it, all brass looked fine except the flash holes. looked to be a little hot, like it kinda had flaked off brass and some of the holes were a little rugged looking. I think i'm working at a high pressure here, and i don't like it. Hornady uses Hodgen 4895 with a max load being only 35.3, so its safe to say i went overboard. Anybody got any loads that arn't max for a 243 with 87grain hornady hpbt, large rifle primers (cci) and imr4895? Or would it be safe to drop down to around 32 grains and work back up? I'm also considering just going to imr4064, or ww 748. Its listed in the hornady book and i've had good groups with these powders. Gotta get a new scope first, my tasco 4-16 went out on me, damn thing. Thanks and have a good one. Brenden
  9. hope all are well. Christmas in WV was wonderful, could have used some snow to make it better but we'll take what we can get. Thanks to all that have put up with me and helped me. You guyes are good people and good friends. Merry Christmas, and may we all eat too much fudge and ham and feel like over stuffed pigs! Brenden
  10. montea6b, mmmm grouse sounds good. I shot one a few years back w/ a 7mm mag, wasn't much left to eat for some reason. Thanks all for the info, gonna get one pretty soon. will post a pic of it when i get it...just to show it off . brenden
  11. To all my bud's.... Hope everyone here has a joyful and safe holiday season. Take care. Brenden
  12. z1r, i love the blackhawk's the feel of them is outta this world. I found a nice 41 mag last night on gunbroker around 600 bucks for a 7.5 inch barrel and ss w/laminate grips....awww it was a beauty. I've just always been a 22 mag fan, killed hundreds of rock chucks with my old marlin. and for 180 bucks for a nice looking 22mag pistol, i can't pass it up. Later on i'll get me a real gun, but for now i just need something to plink with. I'm thinking about buying a new rifle too...so i'll prob buy the pistol when i get my income taxes back, and the rifle this summer. thanks all. brenden
  13. Brian, What did your bore sludge to, is it an 8mm or what? if so was it 318 or 323 dia? if 323 dia... Mine seems to like a sierra 150 spt with 50 grains of imr 4895. Its a good load around 2800 fps or so. good knock down too. i've my memory serves me right....wern't some of the turks originally 7.65 cal from south america?
  14. i'm impressed, thanks for the info and details. brenden
  15. Montea6b, hey i know they arn't leagal, and i'm just being goofy about shooting one outside of bow range. I'm not a poacher, or an outlaw, just know alot of people that bow hunt w/a 22mag. I'm just gonna go w/the 22mag for plinkin, and yeah i'll carry it with me bow hunting, but just for if i see a yote in range, seen alot while hunting w/the stick and string, and its always nice to have on a 4 wheeler in case you see a ground hog or two in the 30 yard range I'd like to have a blackhawk, always wanted one in 41 mag, i had a 44 mag, and like a dummy i sold it. It was just too big and bulky to carry around. it was a tarus model 44, 6.5 inch barrel, nice gun, shot good, just too much to pack on ones side. brenden
  16. i know montea6b, thats why i opt for the 22/22mag...lots of deer have fallen to the 22mag around here...i might add that most were leagal, well, in some sort of season anyway. Karlunity, "Turner's outdoorsman", never heard of them, don't believe there here in WV, thats a good deal though, last one i saw around here was about $380-400.
  17. FC, just wondering if you aquired the 03 sprinfield or not? Brenden
  18. 38scarabkv, Man those are nice. esp. the m44, i love the looks of it. I've got a m44, the only one i own so i have to say its my favorite. Good shooter, light, hell of a brush beater. What all did you do to your m44, would like to build one up like that. brenden
  19. z1r, i've seen that they have a good waranty on their products, read several of the testomionals. I found a nice little revolver today, made by hertiage arms i believe, 22-22mag, 180 bucks new. I think i'd rater have something like instead of a 40, or a 45, plus the 22's are cheap and fun to shoot. Just gotta get my dad to sign for it, only 19, but if he signs for it and shoots it, i'll never get it back! Guys thanks for the advice. az, thanks for the link, i'll consider one. I've always wanted a military pistol. Is that 9X19 or 9X18 (i've heard of both now? ) a pretty powerful round, don't know much about them. Just wanting something to punch paper with and carry bow hunting in case i get a charging deer, or a very nice buck outta bow range brenden
  20. hey guyes. Been thinkin about getting a new hand gun and possibly my first semi-auto. I've been lookin at high point ( cuz i'm a poor college student). anybody have any of these. I've heard good and bad...know their cheap but most say they shoot good. Also who makes an affortable 22mag pistol these days, may just stick to my old hammer guns. Brenden
  21. Hate to hear this kind of news, Havn't been on all weekend. I'm new on here, but from when we talked, he was a good and very funny guy. My sorrow goes out to the family. Brenden
  22. i may be too late but what i do is use t/c's bore butter. Use it as a cleaner and a lube, can fire 6-8 rounds with no problem. I shoot a t/c 54 cal in line, never had a problem, but something may not be right...shouldn't be that hard to load if everything is in check. brenden
  23. last one i bought was for $200 bucks. Got a bad one though, somebody had messed with the head spacing or tried to ream it out or something, blew the cartiage neck and shoulder through-out the barrel. Watch dealing with pawn shops, i've found that 70% of the time your buying someone elses problems. Just my expierence though. As for going price, around here about 400 for a good one. brenden
  24. yeah man! love it when a plan comes together. I need to quit school and get a job so i can start on my 280 project. Its killlin meee! Anxious to see pic. Brenden
