  1. Congratulations Heath. I am glad to hear that your little boy is doing well. I bet you and your wife are proud! Brenden
  2. Thanks Doble. As you say, I will win! I recieved my reamer back from PTG. I had them add a live pilot in .311 or .312 dia. I can't remember for sure, and I have no idea where my reamer is right now. I believe it was around .315-.316 before they ground it down. You can cut anything with that reamer, my fingers show it! I haven't had a chance yet to finish the chamber, too much going on right now. It's close to being finished, but again, I can't remember how much protrusion I still have. Need to find my notes; easier said then done though. Brenden
  3. All I can say is that if you like the stock, use it. You can dress them up a bit and make them pretty nice. It may not compare to a piece of myrtle, but they are nice cleaned up. I just finished the stock on my 8mm-06. I cut down the military stock and rasped wood away to show some fairly nice grain patterns. Added a piece of ebony for affect as well; doesn’t look too bad to me. I like seeing military stocks re-worked. Brenden
  4. Ah, mushrooms. You may live far away, but I can make it there by tomorrow! I've got a few in the fridge, may be tonight’s compliments to dinner. Brenden
  5. A 25-06 is one of the best rounds that ever was (right next to a 7mm STW). Go a "magnum" savage contour at about 26". You won't be sorry when that 120 grainer comes out above 3k. Brenden
  6. Sounds like you had a nice day at the range. The brown bear 203's will put you in your place. I used to take mine out and put about 20 down range just to relieve stress and to put me in my place. Both of your rifles seem to shoot well. Your projects are a success Sir! Brenden
  7. That is a good looking gun. You put a great deal of work into that one. Well done Sir. Brenden

Grouping doesn't look too bad to me. Hell you should see me shoot open sights! I can't see the darn things anymore. Seat those bullets out there a bit and you will do fine. I figured they were for the grand, but hey when you have to shoot, you have to shoot. Nice looking gun you have. Brenden
  9. That is a beautiful rifle. I'm impressed; made a Mosin look like a silk purse! Well done Sir. Brenden
  10. Only advice I can give is not to become sexually frustrated and chase your neighbor’s cows. (I saw that on a t.v show the other night; think it was House ) Kenny, if I can get one to stay unconscious long enough, I will ship one to you. Brenden
  11. Just wanted to thank everyone for their support and prayers. Dad came home Monday afternoon and seems to be doing ok. They feel they have the pneumonia under control, so hopefully this will be the last hospital visit for a while. What bugs me is that they didn't keep him on home antibiotics like they said they would. I hope this doesn’t turn in to a re-peat like the last few times; get him home pneumonia flares back up. It has been a vicious cycle for him. Thank you all again and please remember to keep him in your prayers. Brenden
  12. Another great job Roger. That stock is nice, really makes the old Butler Creek shine doesn't it? Your gun kote matches up nicely with the SS barrel. Job well done, everything flows nicely, and the bolt looks great. What is a P.A.W.S bottom metal if you don't mind me asking? I'm sure I'm missing the obvious here. That is a very nice graduation gift. I'm sure he will be impressed with your skill. Brenden
  13. Gentlemen, I come to you tonight for some help. My father has been in and out of the hospital for around two months now, and is not doing well at all. He was diagnosed with MRSA right off the bat, and then his kidney’s shut down, and is now on dialysis. To top it all off, he was diagnosed with congestive heart failure, and his refraction rate is around 20% now. He had two heart attacks 10 years ago, and had been doing well until this. Along with being in the hospital, he has won what the doctors described as the “pneumonia of the year award”. The CT scan revealed that both lungs are heavily coated with pneumonia with his right lung being basically engulfed with it. The top lobe in the right lung is full of bacteria. They said the left lung doesn’t look much better. Antibiotics aren’t fighting the bacteria as well as the doctors feel they should; may be some underlying infection/problems to deal with as well. It doesn’t look good for him at all at this point; too much to deal with and this has gone on for too long. He is very weak, and has gone from 210 lbs. down to about 170 lbs. His age is somewhat against him too, being 65 years young, he won’t bounce back as well as a 20 something as we all know. I debated on posting this; sometimes asking for prayer is frowned upon. Most of you guys and gals around here don’t seem to mind though. So if everyone could, please pray for my dad Marvin. He has always been a great man and well-liked by those he has come in contact with. He also sat down with a local church member the other night and discussed giving his life to the Lord and being baptized. I want him to be able to do so, as he was very excited to take that step. My father never discussed these things, so this is big for those in our family. Thank you in advance for your thoughts and prayers; I will try to get back on every now and then and keep an update for those interested. Thanks again, Brenden Osborne
  14. Kenny, that was a nice story. I'm glad you had an eventful hunt. Thanks for sharing those pictures. I would like to go to Ak one day; beautiful looking place. I can't believe you took down a caribou with a 6.5x55, not even is a .375 supper ultra-laser mag capable of that feat! In my mind after building one and shooting it, a 6.5x55 is the absolute best round ever developed and capable of darn near anything, but I am sure you already know this. Well done Sir. Brenden
  15. Glad to hear your doing ok Dave. I was beginning to wonder if some of those storms in Ca had washed you away. Good to know your doing well. Sorry to hear about your mother in law. Hope the rest of your family is doing well. Brenden
  16. Thanks all for the compliments. Kenny, I plan on having a scope for each barrel. Barrels I have now are 30-06, and 7mm STW. I plan on getting 6.5x55, 338-06, 35 Whelen, 9.3x62, 358 Norma, .338 Winnie, and probably a few .22 and .25 cal barrels. With the quick release mounts, I can change barrels and put the scope on for that caliber with less adjustment than if I used the same scope. Costly? Yes. Fun? Heck YES! Brenden
  17. Gentlemen, I have gone to the dark side. It happened quickly, one minute I was on savageshooters.com, the next I was holding a 110 30-06 in my hands that my parents bought me for a gift when I graduated from college a few months ago. Then I went to midway, numerich, brownells, etc, and got parts. Stock started out as a black synthetic. I bought some Krylon paint and made the undercoat tan, then used some "stone" paint to add the peppered affect (thanks for the idea Roger!). It has a pacymere pad on it, a .200 thick parallel side recoil lug, and a 26" ss barrel that is threaded for a muzzle brake (the thread protector is in place now). I also went with Leupold quick release bases, and will get the rings soon. I will eventually dura- coat all of the metal black. Maybe one day I will weld a different bolt handle on it, but for now it is what it is. I have two barrels, and two bolts: One magnum, one standard. It’s pretty easy to swap barrels; ten minutes and I can go from a 30-06 to a 7mm STW. That is exactly what I did; I've forever wanted a 7mm STW. It's single shot only, but I like it. Still need a few ejector parts for the bolt, then I will shoot it. I'm a very excited person right now. Brenden
  18. The new Hornady book may. They started making 9.3's a while back as you most likely know. May try Barnes too. I don't have a new Hornady book yet, but I will let you know what’s in there when I get mine. Brenden
  19. Looks really good Darin. It’s a shame you can't use that 30-06 for your guys deer season. By meaning the 358 gremlin, are you talking about trimming the 25 wssm down to 1.640 and necking it up to .35 cal? I've heard of some guys in your area doing so. You could make a "whisper" style cartridge necked up to .35 or take a .458 winnie and trim to length specific and shoot 500 grain dangerous game bullets Keep up the good work, everything is looking good! Brenden
  20. Well looks like it is Jerry's day. Hope you had a good one bud. Brenden
  21. Straight out of the Nosler manual (#6) 250 grain AccuBond Varget (most accurate) Starting charge- 52.5 2383 FPS Ending charge- 56.5 2525 IMR 4064 Starting charge- 52.0 2341 FPS Ending charge- 56.0 2582 IMR 4320 Starting charge- 55.5 2415 FPS Ending charge- 59.5 2569 I accept no responsibility for error in this data or error to note maximum loading charges. (save my own a$$, sorry) May want to start lower for the huskey. These loads were for modern firearms. Sounds like the starting loads would be ok though, close to your desired range. Brenden
  22. Looks good Sir. .35 is a good round, I've been eye-balling it. I like the stock, has some very nice color to it. Brenden
  23. Karl, I agree. White man did them wrong! I had a debate with a black guy once. He said it was unfair being black and being a slave to white people. I asked if he was a slave, he said no, then I asked what was unfair then? Most of the time they will get the job first, get more assistance, and have a general pity party thrown for them because of their skin color and they being slaves. I have to ask, do any of us own slaves today? Are the black men and women that cry this B.S slaves? NO! I watched Al Sharpton cry the other night on T.V. He had a debate with a senator over the senator's use of comparing a black man to aborted babies. Said the black man should be for Pro life, since they too (blacks) were one time "considered less than human" and this is how they are considering babies in the womb. As usual, a white man said "black" and ole' Al had to jump all over it and again say that the senator was being a racist. Al completely blew everything out of proportion as usual, and twisted everything the man said. It’s a shame how things are. Ignorance has plagued most, to have a dislike for one that did you no wrong. And yet, the white man is racist. I get so pissed about this. But yet again, I would be considered racist for my above comments. I used the term "Black" multiple times, so now I await my destiny in the world being considered a racist. Brenden
  24. I think I'm going to send it back to PTG and have them make a removable pilot for me. I shot them an e-mail about it, remember reading somewhere that they did not charge much for this procedure. I thought about running it against the polishing wheel though (or a bench grinder! lol). Thanks for the idea Roger. Sailor, It’s a .323 bore. Ah one of these days, I will get to shoot it. Brenden
  25. Thanks everyone for their input. I had figured it was a pilot issue, I could tell by the feel of the reamer and as well as it not fitting into the muzzle end. Hate to send it back, only cost money though. Thanks for all your help guyes. Brenden
