  1. lefteyedom, thanks for the feedback. i've already built the 8-300wim mag. i used a m98 yugo, modified my 300mag reamer, made the chamber ,then done the throating with a8-06 reamer. tests were all positive. 150gr sierraspitzer out at 3558 with no excess pressure. my 180 nos bt were at 3347 average. i can with this rifle, take down and rebarrel to my 300win mag if needed. work great for me . i took some pics of the rifles i've built, will post them when i get it figured out.dave

  2. There is already an 8mm-.300 win mag. I believe it was called the 323 Hollis. But, why mess with a wildcat when you can build an 8x68S? Factory ammo and brass, and dies are less.

If you had something chambered for a RUM it would be cool to have an 8mm Rum for sure but that would be harder to make work on a Mauser action.

The 8mm/338 win mag is a wildcat but an easyone and it is not a new one ether. Brass is very easy to make, ether open the neck on a 7mm rem or neck down a 338. The dies can be order pretty easy. 8x68s is a factory load but not all that common.

The whole point is to build something that both works and is a little differant.

Heck the easiest wildcat of them all is none other than a 8mm/06 which would be a 8mmX63.

  3. Has any one built an 8mm/300winmag I have most of what I need?

    This a late reply. instead of a 8mm/300winmag conceder a 8mm/338winmag (or 7mm remington open to 8mm)

the 30-338 was/is a great cartridge and the 8mm version would work great plus give you a little more neck to work with.

    have fun....
