Where would one get one of the modified BAR mags that would fit a mauser?

it is a BAR mag from gunparts, I just cut off the feed lips and removed a little wood towards the front of the mag well and then cut up an extra bottom metal I had and welded it to the bar mag. I looked at the trench mag they were like $80.00 and the BAR mag was like $9.00

nice....alot lower than my scope and I even removed the rail from the stanag mount........I am thinking mine needs an adj. cheek rest to get a good cheek weld

some of the initial problems were mount related, but those have been resolved.............do you have pics of scope Bubbamauser?

some type of group that will not make me want to wrap the damn thing around a tree.............been through 2 scopes, 2 mounts, filled the reciever for the plunger, removed the picantinny rail and fabricated rings to fit the mount, scope don't budge and all it will do is shoot flyiers..................

what kind of accuracy are you getting?............................mine is not living up to expectations

I have an 8mm Turk that cocks on closing. Made in 1940 or 41, if I recall, with a straight bolt handle. I suppose it is technically a 95. It is about the smoothest and fastest bolt action I have.

I was spoiled early, the first highpowered rifle I shot, and learned to shoot on, was a 1909 argentine mauser in 7.65mm that my father built...........I still have it , and it is like the comercial says "there are some things money can't buy"

tube stored the cleaning kit, and it was used by Spain when they joined NATO till they got their Cetme's...kind of a fill the gap gun...........all original 7.62mm..............it sure would look good with my BAR mag conversion, like the gadget gun above.

tang was cut and some metal welded on the rear of the receiver with bolt race way and drilled and tapped to match mauser bottom metal, removed a little wood from the stock and it dropped right in, made spacer for mag because the 7.62x39 is so short, feeds and goes bang, but it has a burr in the chamber making extraction hard and scratching the cases. It did not have a firing pin spring so I made one just to hold it togather while I worked on it, I knew it was not powerfull enough to fire, but it let me cycle and check clearances, everthing was so smooth I was getting kind of excited, then the real spring gets here from GPC and it is hard to cock , and the safety is worse than a mosin...........I doubt it will amount to much, I am not a big fan of anything that cocks on closing........

yes, cheap chinese crap, stay away from the one like on the gadget gun above, the m3 style, adjustments not real good, and are backwards (the scope is marked up but turning that way lowers bullet impact, same with windage), I have an m1 lighted stye and it is really good, tried to shoot it to pieces, still working and accurate on any power and the clicks values are dead on. I have the m1 on my Mosin m44 and it shoots dead on. A buddy came across these and the early ones with the soviet ranging retical seem to be far better quality. He got a newer one with a mill dot and there seems to be a smudge on the retical. All in all for the money I would say go NCSTAR before the counterfit stuff.....just saw off that stupid stop light inspired sunshade....and the mounts with the chinese scope are junk, these would not tighten enough and the scope would slip, even rounded the allen heads and still slipped so I added some 3m 5200, enough of it and you will not even need rings..........just have everything lined up because it is kind of permanent.

now with WWII high capicity mag...................

Wow! That is sweet. How does it shoot? ANy signs of the scope base shifting or any major type of alignment issues?

 

Sweet project... I think I found my next project.

took the m44 and a few other guns to the range, and left my 7.62x54r ammo at home, only had 4 rounds of soft point in my bag but got it sighted in, the last round being a dead bullseye, it should group pretty good, the other shots corresponded to scope adjustment to a T, put good ammo in them and they will perform, don't even bother with the cheap military stuff.

the scope piviots to the left and you load the clip, on the bottom of the mount I glued the top layer of a diamond plate anti fatigue rubber mat so when the spent clip ejects there is no loud ping or marring of the scope.

Love the bolt job on the M44!

you should only fire 7.62mm military ammo in 2a's and fr8 mausers, as commercial .308 is loaded to higher pressure, I did hear of a 2a exploding at a local gun range but it had a barrel full of cosmoline, as did mine, so always check before you pull the trigger. I will say that my 2a would not eject spent cases, and the ejection screw was making contact with the bolt so I releaved some metal on the extractor so that it would push the spent case over further towards the ejector, and now it shoots fine.

all these were done with walnut minwax gel, some wood is just not very good and will not take stain like that "uglyfield forend
