  1. It didnt blow up either. I fired 20 rounds through it and it was extremely accurate even with rust in the bore(the rust is gone now from so much shooting). It kicked a little more than the early rifles but it is light and extremely pleasent to fire. It will be my new hunting rifle from now on(I am not going to sporterize it, it is light enough and doesnt need any bubba stuff on it, too historical).
  2. I forgot another accomplishment, he is the only person to run for president that I truly feel is unpatriotic. I believe McCain and Hillary are both patriotic, but Obama is far from patriotic.
  3. I will name an accomplishment, he is the first senator named obama, and he is the first presidential candidate to make me mad enough to tell everyone to vote hillary in the primary.
  4. I dont think he will drop out, he has too much support, people are coming out in droves to vote for him.
  5. Mums dont bother me, I dont really look for mums when I buy jap guns. I dont mess with sporters though unless the price is right. I have one gun that is unground and one that has a hacked mum. The hacked mum is on my type 38 and it is from Iwo jima.
  6. It did that with the rifle I had shot recently, and I figured out why. The sights on it were zeroed to 300 meters. What series and arsenal is your last ditch? Mine is a 34th series Toyo kogyo.
  7. My latest gun, last ditch type 99. I look forward to shooting it. I have shot all of my guns except this one, and this one is going to get shot.
  8. I believe his was already hacked beyond saving. If anyone did get ahold of a type 2 and sported it, it would be extremely foolish to do, as you could get tons of guns for the price of it.
  9. The takedown model is definitely unsportable. I would love to have one.
  10. You were correct, solder wont hurt the barrel unless the barrel is made out of lead. Now if you were arc welding it on, expect some stopped bullets.
  11. I shoot all of my guns, regardless of historical value, I dont sport them though, I would only sport something like an M48, or maybe a RC K98(depending on what ordnance code it is). I wouldnt sport an all matching K98k(I would still shoot it though) or a WWII jap rifle or any of the US rifles.
  12. The Type 99 is a all around better gun than the G43, the one I shot was accurate, but not as accurate as the type 99. The jap rifles are extremely well made, sometimes better than the K98(especially late war ones, the last ditch German ones were dangerous while the last ditch japs are not dangerous).
  13. Okay then, the best non-automatic axis rifle from WWII. Many will try to say that the G43 was better, but my great grandpa gave away his bringback because it was terrible, it had jammed all the time and he even used original ammo in it.
  14. What do you mean wasted on a jap? Jap arisakas are probably the best axis battle rifle of WWII, the mauser is a piece of junk compared to the type 99, and there is no comparing the 99 with the carcano.
  15. I have heard that the CZ82 is the best around for its price. Its also C&R.
  16. She sounds pretty cool, for a democrat.
  17. I read that Gov Janet Napolitano is for gun rights, so that means that if it passes, it will become law, thank God!!!
  18. What are the numbers on the bolts? Also what arsenals are the barreled actions? Do you have any Izawas? Were those guns taken out of bubbaed stocks? Brenden, I understood what you said. I my point about last ditches had just been me talking about them. I understand 100% and had no intention of trying to attack you. I hope you find a good jap, just keep on the look out for a good one, they make excellent shooters, one you would want for just a representative would be an early rifle with the original finish and a matching bolt(matching bolt eliminates headspace problems). I think the pressure ackley blew the guns up was about 150,000 PSI(didnt actually blow the guns up, just blew the barrel off), while the mauser blew up at 90,000 PSI. The speed is about 2700 fps.
  19. IF you get a good jap rifle you wont regret it, I dont(well, the only thing I regret is that I am always broke because Jap rifles are like legal crack). The last ditches people hear about blowing up are all trainers as the trainer can chamber live rounds and fire them, but if you do shoot a live round in a chamber, the gun will blow up. Last ditch rifles have the same care in making the reciever and barrel as the early ones, the japanese just deleted stuff from production that wasnt nescessary(like checkering the safteys, using metal for buttplates, and monopods and AA sights, and many other features). There is an upside to last ditches, if you hunt with them, they are extremely light and the metal can withstand touching(unlike the cold blued remchesterbys which get ugly fingerprints on them if you touch the barrel). And exploding last ditches are all myths created by racism toward japanese and gunsmiths who didnt want to waste their time working on them, if they truly did blow up, then that wouldve been harmful to the war effort, kill half your own troops with their own rifles and demoralize the rest. Carcanos are good shooters from what I have heard and the pre98 mausers should be shot only with low powered ammo(like an 8mm g88 shouldnt be shot with surplus 8mm and only custom loaded low power ammo). Brenden, you would really enjoy a jap rifle, they are starting to climb up in prices, but there are still deals to be had. Also almost all of them are bringbacks so you could have a good example of something brought home by a service man. Be careful with rechambered ones, the 7.7 ones rechambered to 30.06 are extremely innaccurate and if they arent reamed right, they can really bugger up the shell cases and not allow for extraction.
  20. Ill show you a jap sporter that I am positive is alot nicer than an original. http://www.surplusrifleforum.com/viewtopic...=82&t=48371 3rd post down, next to an original carbine. Absolutely gorgeous, and it was done right(although I wouldnt recommend sporting any jap rifles, just way to nice in original condition). I never sell any of my rifles in my collection, they are all to special for me to sell and will hopefully remain in the family forever. It is almost like the japanese had made each rifle specifically for me to drool all over and to care for, I do appreciate sites like this as it helps people make good hunting rifles right(this site is almost like a bubba cure). I hope that if you guys ever find a jap rifle and feel like you want to sport it, you can sell it instead of sporting it, or just decide to keep it the same, as it is really fun hunting with it anyway and real fun to shoot. Some of the rifles I have seen on this site almost look like high end remchesterbys that only the white collars own, but in reality they are converted military rifles in which blood sweat and tears are into the whole thing. I hope to make a M48 sporter as nice as some of the rifles here, and I may sport some other rifles as well, but a WWII unmessed with mauser or arisaka will stay in original condition as long as its with me.
  21. But if you ever do get ahold of an original WWII rifle that is unmessed with and not refurbed, you could trade it for a sported rifle so you can have a good project. I had almost bought a beautiful unmessed with jap rifle, with all bells and whistles(monopod, dust cover, AA sights, cleaning rod, and sling), I drove 60 miles to get it and as soon as I got there, I was handed a monstrosity in sporting, they had a guy who it was his first time cut the barrel(he didnt even cut straight), cut and whittle the stock, remove all of the good parts, bend the bolt, and tap it for a scope. It was a horrible experience and the end of a historical gun that couldve been a good piece in my collection, but they thought I wanted a deer rifle out of it and then ruined it. They still expected me to pay the price of an unmessed with rifle for it. They also bubbaed a Vietnam bringback SKS and China type 53(the womans husband was a vietnam vet who brought those rifles back, it was actually sad to see those papered guns ruined like that) and a carcano(the carcano was actually nicely done, and if it werent for the price I wouldve bought it because it almost looked like a hunting rifle and nothing like a sported military rifle, unlike the jap which I would describe as a gun abortion).
  22. I didnt have any idea about the VZ24s, I had always assumed they were just Czech military guns that didnt see much action. Thanks for all the info.
  23. I would get me a swede sniper if it werent for the price. I do know that some VZ24s were used by the Japanese in WWII, I saw one at a gunshow that was captured on Iwo jima, it had a bullet hole on the upper part of the stock.
  24. The VZ24 and the arisaka are two different rifles, the Vz24 is sportable as it wasnt used in any war and just sat in an arsenal. By the way, shame on you for taking a piece of history and making a beautiful rifle out of it Just kidding, you did an excellent job on that rifle, I can only hope my M48 will be half the rifle that is.
