You are awesome! I've been running every version of Fedora since Fedora Core 1 too. Fedora 19 has been fairly solid for me. I actually started with Redhat 4.2 long before Fedora. What desktop (window manager) do you run? Technically, if it runs an Intel/AMD compatible, it should work fine. The UEFI boot setup on newer machines has me a little nervous though. I've read reports that trying to install Linux on some UEFI-based machines is futile; not all manufacturers care about what consumers actually want to use. Do a web search for your model and see if anyone has tried Fedora on it. If it's a popular model, then you may just have some luck. To make things easier for yourself, have you looked at Android tablets? Android runs the Linux kernel, and for a tablet interface, it's probably better suited for data input. The ARM processors in Android tablets are phenomenal for battery life. Oh, and they do have a Fedora cut that runs on Android tablets for the adventurous...

I'm quite happy with Google Voice. You can set up a free virtual phone number that can be forwarded to any phone. Through the web interface, you can send and receive text messages.

The Midway guy used Gorilla glue. Biggest thing appears to be getting the glue to flow through the cracks. Could you spread the stock, drill a "plunge" hole from the inside of the stock, then push the glue through the crack? I'm surprised the laminate split; I always figured laminate was super tough. I guess recoil can be a real monster to a stock.

You can probably get by without the heat. Just make a paste and apply liberally around affected areas. I raise dents with a wet towel and the tip of a clothes iron. This method also re-sharpens rounded wood corners; I've made the rear-sight cutout on upper hand guards look freshly milled doing this. The edges around trigger guard inlets will sharpen too. The cure-all for stubborn wood finishes is of course Easy-Off; it's a last resort, but it sure works well.

Either my team or myself inspected 3-stars - both inspecting personal gear and a metal detecting wand (minimum). Everyone gets inspected, or they did when I was there. Will the rifle be "handier" if the barrel is less than 20"? 20" is a good balance between velocity and maneuverability. I have no issues with shorter barrels; for concealment and climbing in-and-out of vehicles, they can't be beat. With reduced velocity and increased muzzle blast, you have to have a good reason for trimming that barrel; I don't know that the justification is there. Leave it at 20" and call it good.

I can verify from two deployments in the sandbox that sexual assault is very real in the military. I've seen the results of attacks, coercion, rape, and groping. Threats of retaliation, intimidation, and ostracising are always sure to follow. Most of the events I've seen, as well as read about in the news have one common element: alcohol. Look at the recent disasters at our Navy Academy: an instructor openly engaging in sexual contact with multiple Midshipmen females and three Mid football players sexually assaulting a drunken female shipmate. I always thought that students at academies were buried in regimen and studies. When are they having time to get smashed? Why do they have the time? The most difficult job as a leader is trying to protect people from themselves. I don't get the efforts that folks go through to get booze smuggled into a combat zone; I'm not naive, and I understand it's pervasive, but getting caught is brutal and shameful. How do you tell a young lady that drinking until she passes out in a football frat house is a very bad risk? I'm not blaming the victim, but REALLY? What really sucks about all this is that there are so many great Soldiers, Airmen, and Sailors who are above reproach on the matter of sexual assault and they have to endure yet another round of "you aren't doing enough".

Communication is fairly one-way, even if you are allowed to talk. You can vent, but it makes no difference. The best tool is the end-of-class critiques. Writing-down that that material was trash might actually get seen by someone above the instructor level. Be brutal and unforgiving.

Yes, but it's still a potential invasive species. The agricultural aspect of customs is to prevent invasive critters and plants from entering a country. It's not just the plants, but also the fungii, diseases, parasites, and blights that they carry, even in seed form. Sealing live seeds doesn't prevent any of this. Having worked customs from a military perspective, ANY living plants or seeds are fair game.

Seeds and agricultural products are always a "no-no", unless factory-sealed, un-opened, and intended for digestion. You'll have to buy tulip seeds through Earl May.

8x57 = 3.228 COAL 25-06 = 3.250 COAL .280 Rem = 3.333 COAL 25-06 looks to be a pretty good fit. Now, most folks load the 25-06 with long 120 grainers, but factory should need little if any modification. 0.022 inches is halfway between a 1/64th and a 1/32nd.
