  1. Ok guy's I just off the phone with Tanglewood. A few months back he offered to weld up a the bolt handle. The proceeds to help with board expenses. I am going to have him do a Yugo Bolt for the 308 I am building for my Daughter. He is still offering to do a standard length for the same cause. So come on guy lets help Tony with defray the cost of this great Board. Any questions you can PM Tanglewood.
  2. My Daughter and I are finally going to get our concealed carry permits. She has always liked my Beretta mod 84. It's a high cap 380. I was going to let her use it until she can afford something of her own. Well last week at the range she shot my brand new ( 1st. time being shot ) Ruger SP101 in 327 Fed. After we were done shooting she offered to take it home with her and clean it for me. I am sure this would be the last time I would have shot it as "my pistol". It has taken me 5+ years to get something in 327. I may have to buy her a SP101 in 357 or give her my Berretta.
  3. My 1918 vintage 1911 is in my "get the F### out of Dodge" bag. She can eat any .45 ACP load put in a mag. Never a jam or mis-feed. Some bone head blued it long before I got it. The "U.S. Army property" stamp is still in tack. I only wish CMP could sell 1911's like they do with long arms. M14's would be nice also. Ralph
  4. I think you can tinker with the 123 gr bullets and load to get great results. I would first measure the free bore of your barrel. Seat the bullet a few .00x short of it. I would also look for a powder with a faster burn rate than your current choice. Your getting there. Good luck and keep us posted. Ralph
  5. Nice looking Sweed. IMO with the horizontal stringing I would also say mount or scope. Also check your action screws. To me it looks like something is loose somewhere. If you rule these out and move to hand-loading here is how I approach it. Pick a bullet weight you like. Check several sources for a powder with a burn rate that fills the case to around 90%+. Compare all data for that powder. Work up an average starting and max. load data. Select a starting load at around the middle and work up in 1/2 grain increments. I will load 5 round at each installment. Shoot each loading and you should find one your rifle likes. Good Luck
  6. I've done 2 Turks so far. I try to square the receiver to .002" from the inner shoulder. Take your time and measure it at several points across the face. Use a dial caliper and a files. The extra effort will pay off in improved accessory. Good luck and keep us informed.
  7. I have had Clemson do 3 bolts for me. All were very professional. IMO anyone on this site will do an excellent job and are 1st. rate Gentlemen. Ralph P.S. Do we have any Female members?
  8. Thanks Tinker, Yes they showed me exactly what I was looking for. Ralph
  9. I have spent the last few day's searching for an old post. It covering the stock dimensions of a win.mod 70 Featherweight. I am mainly look for the length of the four-arm. From the trigger to the tip of the stock. Anyone remember this posting or have a Featherweight they could measure for me. Thanks Ralph
  10. Not trying to Hijack but I guess I'm not the only one to search reamers on e-bay. Ralph
  11. I have Hubers on my #4 Mk1 and Mosin Nagant M38. They are a big improvement over issued triggers. The break much crisper and cleaner. If you order from Brownells and don't like it you can always return for a refund. A good shoulder pad might be a better choice. It will dampen recoil on any rifle. This might help overall. Good Luck Ralph
  12. Looks great to me. I can't wait until I can get one to look half that nice. Good work Don Ralph
  13. Don't feel bad Sailormilan2. I am going to build a 308 for my Daughter. It is going to be on a Yugo 24/47 action. She wanted pink also. I talked her into a Rollover in Rosewood from Richards. I always thought that their "Black-widow" would make a good choice for her also. Keep us posted on the progress. Ralph
  14. I had a co worker give me 3/4 lbs. of 1870 vintage dupont black powder. He found the can in his Grandmothers house. He wanted to sell the can on ebay. I put the powder in an empty powder can and have it squirreled away for uses at a later date. I don't know for what but you never know. I have seen cannon fuze at Graff's reloading.
  15. Thanks guys. I got it off. I removed the range slider. The heat was able to be more evenly distributed. I don't think I gave it enough time the first go around. Ralph
  16. Is there a trick to sweating off the rear sight on a mauser. The front sight came off really easy. I held benomatic torch on it for 5 minuets. It didn't look like the heat was getting evenly distributed. Should I just keep the heat on it longer? Would it be best to use 2 torch's? Any help in this matter would be a big help. Thanks Ralph
  17. I have been dragging my feet on my Turk in 280 for many months. I removed the charging hump and hand guard ring last summer. The stock came from Richards in Sept. It sat on the bench untouched for a few months. I was having issues with my Williams D&T jig. I returned it to Brownells. I bought a Bruno bolt handle and a shroud with safety from Don Markey in Dec. I got a great deal on another D&T jig from a member on Mauser Central in Jan. I glass bedded the stock in Feb. I finally call Clemson on Friday. We talked about what needed to be done. I sent it off today. Now, I have to work on the stock. It needs to be ready for the action when it come from Clemson. I have a Yugo 48 that will keep the military barrel. I will sweat the sight off the barrel. I have a bolt that has a sporter bolt handle already welded up. It head spaces perfectly. I have the stock, trigger and bolt shroud. I just need to put it together. I will keep you up date as things progress. Ralph
  18. My one and only time I had a run in with the law, I was smart enough to say "I want to call a Lawyer". I then sat there and said nothing for 2 hours. When he got there the matter was resolved. I walked out the doors free but $500 poorer. I told my kids don't say anything, play "dumb" and tell them you want a Lawyer. Let the sleaze bags deal with the a-holes.
  19. I always enjoyed smoking a pipe. I liked the different flavors of tobaccos. My smoke of choice was Camel filter-less. When I hit 3 packs a day I knew it was time to quite. I would wake up in the middle of the night to have a smoke. Felt like crap all the time. It has been 10 years and I still get cravings. I have to just stay strong and the cravings pass.

Tony, The funds were still pending in my pay pal account. I must have entered your address wrong. I just resent the $25. Use it for the forum as needed. Ralph

  21. Tony I'll kick in $25. Check your PP Ralph Just tried to pp. I think you need to add .gov to end of address.
  22. On tonight's local news they actually did a positive story on gun purchases and ownership. They started off by stating that on Dec. 23 had the highest sales in 10 years. The story went on to explain that more people were purchasing for personal defense. They also explained that that the average citizen can own a firearm with out special permits or training. The concluding statement was anyone interested in firearm ownership is "encouraged to get professional training". This was a break through.
  23. Thanks guys. This gives me a few ideas.
  24. I actually got turned on to e-bay by a co-worker about 3 or 4 months ago. He sells lots on comic books and collectables. He makes a $200+ a week selling. I started selling some extra item I have collected over the years. Mainly stuff that I thought was neat but never fit into any of my collecting. So far I have made $2500. Not to bad for stuff I couldn't care about. I just sold a set of Colt logo series 70 grips for $68.55 plus $5.95 shipping. About twice what I thought they were worth. AZ and Dr. Hess are right some buyer are flakes. I have already had 2 buyers not pay. I will only accept pay pal. You will lose a total of 10% on e-bay and pay pal charges. I usually add enough into the shipping cost to cover tracking label. I start my pricing at the minimum price I would accept for a item. If I get more it's just gravy. My auctions all end on Sunday evenings. More people are home and lots of last minuet bids. I am a shipping and receiving manager for a major retailer. I get all my box's and bubble wrap from work. It is some what of a savings. I have used Fed Ex and UPS envelopes (free for the taking ) to ship through USPS. Just black out the others logos. Give it a try you might make a buck. Ralph
  25. Can the guard or lock screw holes be welded shut on a trigger guard? I really don't like the looks of them. Has anyone done this or is it more work than it is worth? Ralph
