  1. Tony, would a pay pal gift payment be OK? I think I still have your email address still. Ralph
  2. I found the same to be true at one of the bigger local shows last week end. I got a deal on a Glock 26. It's the compact 9mm. Came with 3 mags and night sights. I paid $425. for it. The seller was some dumb a** that bought it new about 18 months ago. Didn't fire it much because he couldn't get ammo. He wanted to use the money to buy a "hunting rifle" because "he was going to give that a try". Heaven help us this fall. Ralph
  3. I don't know what is being said about this Nationally. I grew up about a mile from the center of all the unrest. My home is now about 15 miles away. I know several cops also. A few facts that are being left out locally and I guess Nationally also. The initial stop by the Police was made because Mr. Brown openly shoplifted. He stole from the "QT" ( Quick Trip ), yes the one that was burned. One news story stated he was stopped for walking down the middle of the street. If he was walking down the middle of the street it was a residential one. These streets are only 1 1/2 cars wide. So it isn't hard to believe he was walking in the middle of the road. He was stopped for the shoplifting crime. A scuffle occurred in the patrol car. The struggle carried into the road. The shooting occurred in the street. A candle light vigil was held in honor of Mr. Brown. This vigil was peaceful and concluded before the looting started. The mass looting of the stores was done by people from other parts of the area. The vast majority are from the City of St. Louis or other suburban areas. These are Thugs that are using this occurrence as an excuse to commit crimes. Many that have been arrested have long criminal records. Now there is a social media game being played calling for more unrest. There has been calls for spot riots in areas. There were calls for riots at 2 local malls on Monday. As the Police reacted the looters struck. Only not at the threated location but at stores 15 miles. Now tonight a "call to riot" has been made at the Mall I work at. I wonder were the looting will happen tonight. I think this was part of the plot in the 2nd. Die Hard movie. I just wanted to let you guys know a few facts. I would be interested to know how this is being spun Nationally. Ralph
  4. I'll have to actually measure the case to see how much is still in the cylinder at the end of the ejector stroke. I'll get a picture posted in a day or two with the measurements. Ralph
  5. My main carry pistol is a Ruger SP 101 in 327 Federal. The fired casings will not eject free form the cylinder. The star extractor will push them out. The ejector rod is not long enough to push the casing all the way out of the cylinder. I have to pull them out by hand. I don't always have to do it to every casing and not every time. Would polishing the chambers of the cylinders correct this problem? I have some small felt polishing cone for a Dremel. A little compound should slick the inside surface of the chambers. Anyone have any thoughts on this topic? Thanks Ralph

    Stuff

I think the way I found this site was looking for info on rebarreling my shot out Turk, now my 35 Whelen. I found what I liked and now check the site daily now. Many guys on here are helpful. They have given me answers and confidence to learning the this hobby. I have contributed when the need was there. You can count on me for future donations to keep the site up. Ralph
  7. I'll bet if there is a change back to the 45ACP the 1911 wouldn't be the handgun. I'll bet it will be some hi cap platform, ie Glock, Sig or S&W M&P series.
  8. Sorry, no dog in this fight. I loose at home so much I can't remember what it's like to win. Good Luck Ralph
  9. About 15 years ago I was given a 60# sack of fine ground Walnut media. It was intended to be used in a "sand / bead blaster" . Works great. I add 2 table spoons on Frankford Arsenal case cleaner every 2 or 3 uses. Run it for 4 to 6 hours on a timer. I think Walnut leaves the cases cleaner than Cork Cob. I think I still have about 40+ lbs left. Ralph
  10. Missouri is also a open carry state. You don't even need a permit. Very few people do it, mainly during hunting season. I personal have done it when hunting with my Ruger Redhawk. It a scoped 7 1/7 revolver. Kind of hard to hide. I don't see the need to open carry just because you can. Why give the Anties. any more reason to find a new cause to go after. Ralph
  11. Give Dawson a try. They make custom handgun sights. https://www.dawsonprecision.com/ Ralph
  12. Not enough moms. In StL there would be at least 4 or 5 more females to the 1 sperm donor. Ralph
  13. We had 1 cat. Then 2 weeks ago we adopted another from a rescue. I completely understand that cartoon. Ralph
  14. I went back and found the cartridge demolitions. http://static.squarespace.com/static/5163436ce4b0b470bd1fbb00/t/52fea983e4b09e6f5ea59cc6/1392421251029/26_Nosler_SAAMI.pdf It is slightly fatter than a 06 or 8mm round. It will be interesting to see if this round will last or be ignored by the shooting public like so many other worthy rounds. Ralph P.S. The 270 reference was just my poking fun at all the die hard 270 Win fans.
  15. I was just looking up some bullet info over on Nosler's web site. I read a atrial about their new .26 Nosler round. http://www.nosler.com/news-and-articles/2013/11/22/the-26-nosler This looks like a great round. It can fill the gap between 25-06 Rem and 280 Rem. I think Winchester tried a round in 270 some time back it the 1930's. Did it really ever catch on, just kidding. I have German 98 actions waiting for future builds. I'm sure it will be several years before reamer and gauges would be available. This fits my build schedule perfectly. I'll keep an eye out for load data, dies and any more info as it come out. Ralph
  16. By now most Police trade in's should be Gen 3s. Most have been carried a lot and shot little. If they let you pull the slide off look for the "copper" colored lube around the inner edges of the on the inside of the slide. This means little use. Let me how you do I can hook you (or any of our members ) up with a Lone Wolf barrel and Ghost Maker trigger kits at a discount. Good Luck Ralph
  17. I just bought Meprolight night sights for my Glock 29. It already had a LazerMax guild rod in it. Kind of redundant but the price was right. Do we really need an excuse to buy more Gun or Hunting stuff? I don't think so. Ralph
  18. Thanks Guys. Had to work today, but time went by fast. The Wife and I just back from Dinner. I got a few free Birthday Beers so that was cool. Ralph
  19. My defensive / carry ammo is Hornady 200 grain XPT, moving at around 1200 fps. Just remember "a 9mm might expand but a 45 doesn't need to". Good Luck Ralph
  20. A-Bolt 30-06 with Tasco World Class 3x9, Remington 700 in 25-06 topped with Tasco World Class 3x9, Turk 280 rem topped with Redfield 4x12. As far as pistols all are more accurate than I am.
  21. I read a thread some time back on this subject. From what I remember you need to alter the Magazine box and feed ramp. Again from memory the front and back of the Magazine box must be thinned. The feed ramp must be shortened to afford the nose of the bullet to clear when cycled. If you only have a Yugo to work with give it a shot. It might be easyer and more effective to do a round like 7mm08 or 6.5x08. Either way You'll get plenty of useful advice from the Guys here. Good luck and keep us informed.
  22. I love the 1911 also. Actually I don't think Iv'e met any firearm I don't like, except Mosin Nagant. The first handgun I bought was a Army issue 1911, Serial number 1082xx, made in 1918. It had been phosphate blued and "Pearl" grips. Looked like it was "carried by a cheap pimp from a New Orleans Whorehouse". I put a set of Pakmeyers on it and shoot the hell out of it. Because of it age I keep it's loads on the mid-range side. I have a Sig GSR and Kimber 1911s. They shoot like a dream. They are more accurate than I am. I have fondness for Glocks also. My 20 and 29 in 10mm are bigger hammers than the 45Acp. I guess it comes down to shoot what you enjoy and the more you shoot the better you are at shooting. Ralph
  23. My Gun Room is a closed up room on the opposite side of the house. My wife can smell the #9 within 2 minuets of the jar being opened. Ralph P.S. The smell lingers longer in a closed up room .
  24. Karl has a point about ammo. With all that has happen on the past year has shown us that. I haven't bought factory ammo in 30 years. This time even reloading supplies were a sold out for a long time. If you can't find ammo or brass then all you have is a wall hanger. I have a hard time finding 280 Rem brass in MO. I can get all the 270 Win brass I want. I had to start fire-forming 270 into 280. Not a big deal but if I could't find either then My 280 would have been useless. If you want something in 6mm 6.5mm look at what brass will be easiest to find. A 6.5-06 is a easy conversion from 30-06. I've always felt published reloading data on the 243 was well below what it is the max pressure should be. Just My $.02 Ralph
  25. I haven't been to a Gun Show for a least 2 years. Since the Obomanation of America started things were just to over priced. Reloading supplies are back in stock a Graff's, so no need to go to looking at the shows. The last 3 Hand Guns I bought came off Gun Broker. Got them at a great price. My 01 dealer only charges me $10 to do a transfer. If ammo supply doesn't open up I think that a lot of stuff will be getting sold off soon. A year with no or over priced ammo will run the casual or navies shooter out of the sport.
