  1. 1+ on 1911. I have a Kimber Raptor, Sig GSR and Colt (made in 1918) serial number 208xxx. I carry my GSR all the time. It's a Commander sized pistol. I also carry my Glock 29, 10mm with an extended ported barrel. My other Carry is a Ruger SP101 in 329 Federal. When I carry a 1911 cocked and locked I always feel a little uneasy. I was taught to never count on a manual safety. I never have that unsasy felling with my Glock or Ruger SP101. Just my $.02.
  2. DO IT! I have 3 Golcks now. A G17 (9mm) G20 & G29 (10MM). I have a coworker that is a Glock "armor". He got me started messing with them. They are really easy to work on. You would want to change out the Barrel if you want to shoot reloads or cast lead bullet. Lead will foul the Pologonal rifling. This causes the "Glock Kaboom". I have upgraded the Triggers on all. Reduced pull down to 3.5# and faster reset. If they are police trade in they should be in good shape. I have set up a Dealer account with Lone Wolf Barrels and Ghost Maker Triggers. I can buy them at cost and flip them on E-bay. If you want to upgrade the Barrel and Trigger let me know. I'll let you have them at my cost plus shipping.
  3. I was thinking it would need to be re-bedded. I will be getting to it in a week or so. Ralph
  4. I love it. As a kid my favorite war time Cartoons were "Buggs Bunny nips the Nips". and "Gremlins from the Kremlin" It a shame the the PC cry babies rewrite history and forget the pain that those events caused. We are already seeing it with 9/11.
  5. Thanks, lot of great advice as usual Guys. I think I will give the Accu-Glass a try. I'll keep you informed. Ralph
  6. I've know about this for around a month or so. At the last range session groups went from 1" to 5" with in 20 rounds. I knew something was up. When I got home I saw a crack in the wrist. I didn't want to pull it apart until after I got back from Deer hunting. Well I'm back and here is what I found. The "bump" for the floor plate catch was in contact with the stock. It acted like a splitting wedge. The 35 was my first build and I guess this was a rookie mistake. I checked my 280 Rem, Yugo 8x57 and 308 for Daughter. The 280 and 8x57 had plenty of clearance. The 308 is still on the bench. It was almost in contact in the same area. I re-leaved it to avoid any future problems. So do I try to put in a pin and Accu-glass it? Order a new stock and start over. I have been wanting to try my hand at checkering. This old stock could make for good practice. What ever I do it won't be in a hurry. I still have my Daughters 308 to finish. The 8x57 isn't finished yet either. I'll keep you guys informed on what ever I do. Ralph
  7. I don't own a Rock Island. I have 2 Colts and a Sig Sauer. With a little polishing and fitting you should have a real nice Pistol. The funny thing about most 1911s is a stock gun is ok. With a little work they can be great.
  8. I just sent $10. through PP. Ralph
  9. First the Army went to Berets like a bunch of French painters. Now the Marines are going to look like Bell Hops at a cheep hotel. Every time something like this happens I wonder what George Patton or Chesty Puller would say. Most likely "are you out of your F###ing minds".
  10. My wife is a Brunette with Hazel eyes, my Daughter has Auburn hair with Blue eyes. So I favor them both.
  11. I bought one off Don Markey. It had a "ridge" down the front. I would think a little grinder or Dremel work could give it the same contour. As far as the engraving skills go I don't think I could ever pull that off. Looks great. I also wish it was mind. Ralph
  12. I think he got off easy. He still had cloths on and didn't have the Flag pole up his ass. Ralph
  13. My folks listened to him also. I remember hearing it being played at a few of their dinner parties.
  14. I am a Shipping and Receiving Manager / Trainer for a large retailer. They are known for going "Beyond". We work the Dog snot out of our employees. No rest break or lunch if they work less than 6 hours a day. Very few full time employees at any store (less than 3 or 4) other than Management. All part time employees are not allowed to be scheduled for more than 24 hours. If they work over without permission, they will be sent home early a following day. So the working folks are getting screwed by Oboma Care and Fed employees don't have to come to work but get paid. Stalin and Lennon must be so proud. They really did win the cold war after all.
  15. I have a Sister In Law and her Husband that are major Libs. He currently is a Assistant Department Head with the Army Corps of Engineers. She used to work for the Corps also. She quit because the Commanding Officer (a Col.) didn't like her joking about his authority and "overbearing" control. They are Civilian employees. Her husband has been furloughed few day's a month since the Sequester. To their way of thinking the Sequester and pending shut down "aren't fair". The "mean and hate full Republicans are doing this to hurt the poor and needy". They have been living off the Government Tit for so long they think the deserve to be supported. The funny thing is that the Hubby asked me if I would be interested in opening a Shooting range with him. He said our Father in Law would found it if I was involved. This guy has never fired a firearm in his life. He is interested in shooting because it is hot and trendy. He thinks our Father in Law is a new Tit to suck off of. The long and short of my answer was I wouldn't help this Jack Ass change a flat tire. He thought I was some stupid Red Neck that would do all the work and bring the knowledge. He could just sit back and sponge off me and our Father In Law. I hope the whole Damn thing is shut down. Ralph P.S. Broken Gun, I was born in 1962.
  16. AzRednek I don't know what model Taurus you have but check Midway. http://content.midwayusa.com/product/573848/wolff-shooters-spring-pack-taurus-73-85-605 Wolf spring kits are dirt cheep. They make springs for most revolvers. That is what is put in my Ruger. Yes the 10mm is a Beast. A 165 grain moving at 1550 fps. Is entry level 41 mag range. I have loaded them hotter. The recoil is more than my 6" 357 Dan Wesson. The 10mm was Developed for the FBI by Norma. It was too hot for most agents. My 5'4" Daughter loves my 10mm's. I have a 20, full sized 15 round and a 29 "Compact" 10 round. The 29 is very manageable with a Pearce grip extension. The 40 S&W is a shortened 10mm. I really didn't think I would like a Glock until I shot a buddies. Give one a try you might like one after all. Ralph
  17. FC said last week that things were a little slow on the forum lately. I figured I would ask "What is your concealed carry sidearm and why?" I'll start. I have two that I carry. #1 is a Ruger SP101 in 327 Federal. It is built on a 357 frame with a 3 inch barrel. The big plus is that you get 6 round instead of 5 on a 357. I installed a Wolf spring kit and polished the action. The single action trigger pull is a crisp 3# double action 5 1/2 #. I have my carry rounds loaded with 110 grain Gold dots moving at 1600 fps. The 327 Federal is flanked by 38 special and 357 mag. #2 is a Glock 29 in 10mm. This is a "compact" pistol. I installed a Ghost Maker trigger kit. Trigger pull is a no creep 3 1/2 #. The barrel is a Lone Wolf. It is extended (4.35 inches ) and compensated. The load I settled on for this arm is a 165 grain Sierra sports master moving at 1550 fps. The 10mm is flanked by a 9mm and 45 acp. I am a online Dealer for Lone Wolf and Ghost Maker. If any of you guys need a barrel or trigger kit for your Glock I'll give you a great deal on them.
  18. I have the chamber cut on the Yugo 24/47 for my Daughter. It is in 308 Win. The barrel is a A&B 20". I original plan was to cut and crown the barrel at 18". I have a Brownell's 11* crowning cutters. One In 1/2" and one in 3/4" plus the needed pilot. In thinking about it would 2 inches really make a difference in the handling or ballistics overall. The barrel may benefit from a 11* crown over what the manufacture finished it with. Anyone have any thoughts on barrel length for a 308? Would a 11* crown be better than factory? Thanks Ralph P.S. I got the crowning tools and 4 pilots for a steel. I really just kind of want to see what I can do with them.
  19. I didn't put one on my 280 Rem. My Daughter wants one on this 308 I'm building for her. I'll be trying out some different ideas. Thanks Ralph
  20. When it comes to cool firepower I think the Germans win every time. I want on also. Ralph
  21. My Brother and his family are in town from San Antonio. We plan to celebrate by shooting my M-1 and 1911 this afternoon. Tonight will be fireworks. The people in my neighborhood have far to much discretionary income. Their fireworks displays are awesome. We'll sit on my deck and watch the display's on their dime. As an aside. I work with a gal form Ireland. She told me that in the 1970's they would celebrate the 4th. also. They would throw "Petrol Bombs" at the British Soldiers for us. Happy Birthday Everyone. Ralph
  22. If they do that in the ST. Louis area I have a few junkers to sell them. I don't know about buying off of the public. My luck I'd get one used in a murder
  23. My standard line is "if you can't help me after I explain the situation to you, send me to your supervise". The other is "you can be pissed off now and take care of me or get pissed off all over again after I file a complaint against you". These lines usually get results. Ralph
  24. I didn't either. The extractor runs about $13 and replacement /fingers are $6 for a bag of 10. I just add them to my wish list and they will be on my next order. Ralph
  25. Thanks for the info Guy's. Don a PM is in bound. Ralph
