  2. Yes, yours is excessive and may puncture primers. Which is a Not Good Thing. .055" to .065".........I try to split the diff. with .060 JM2c
  3. As do I. Mine is an XP-100.
  4. He was within his rights and the cops were wrong to request he desist a lawful activity. At least in Az. Only catch would be if he KNOWINGLY sold one to a convicted felon or a minor without the minors parent/guardians written permission.
  5. Every State has different transfer regulations or none at all. It is my understanding from friends in Tx that it is still a Free State and no firearms registration is required on face to face purchases. And only a Fed 4473 form and insta-check for dealer purchases. If really interested try this site the answer is there in plain speak. http://www.texasgunlaws.org/
  6. I noticed the buggered threads in pic of original post regarding barrel removal. Looks like slight damage from the broach. I'd use it. Seen a lot worse that never gave a problem. JM2c
  7. cHEAPER TO BUY NEW STUFF FROM gRAF'S AND sON http://www.grafs.com/retail/catalog/product/productId/128
  8. Most I ever paid for Turk ammo was $8 a bando but that was bout 5 yr ago. They held IIRC 70 rounds in strippers. If same count that guy wants a buck a shot for surplus ammo. WOW
  9. Sounds like the barrel will be reinstalled so a tension relief cut is out of the question. The 16 is a small ring so start with the bolt installed and don't over-tighten your action wrench. Work the bolt as you tighten wrench. If you feel the lugs start to bind, back off just a hair. Use a cheater on wrench but leave about 8" of handle showing close to head. Preload tension on the cheater and smack the exposed handle with a 2 or 3# hammer about 6" from the wrench head. Once will usually pop em loose but sometimes 2-4 whacks are necessary. If that doesn't pop it loose be patient. Stand it on muzzle and saturate circumference of barrel stub inside reciever with a penetrant such as Liquid Wrench, Rust Buster, or 50/50 mix of ATF and laquer thinner overnight. And give it another go. Out of curiousity is your 16 still a 7x57 or is it a 7.62 CETME? JM2c
  10. Karl, I get a [linkie no workie] Page Not Found error.
  11. Ba-Domp-Bomp.......glad to not disappoint
  12. DANG,........I thought it was Tony Saprano
  13. The guy is obviously a moron whos IQ matches his shoe size. What does that say about the people who voted for him?
  14. Way to go Dude, I'm sure the lucky young'n will cherish the rifle Gramps fixed up for him forever.
  15. I get a [web page cannot be found] alert when I click the link
  16. Recievers are same dimensions...........barrel steps will likely vary.
  17. Hey Dude, If it is one of Kimbers actions and they didn't already ruin it, [which they were known to have done to many]. It isn't brain surgery to rebarrel a small ring. Simpler than a 98 anyway, because there is only one bearing surface at the reciever face. It can be done with hand tools and a rented reamer and go gage if the barrel is a new {short chambered}barrel. If not it will require a lathe and proper tooling. There is no extractor groove to deal with on a Swede. Yugo's do have one. Check out Steve Wagner's Pages for DIY mauser projects and tools that can be done at home. Like angle iron action wrench and barrel vise. Kunhausen's book is a very good reference as stated. If you want to do it right. Start with peace of mind and have a reputable smith check your reviever/bolt unless you are very familiar with mausers and know what and how to check the various problems than can be there. JM2c
  18. I ask the LEO who has stopped me, What's your problem Donut Breath?
  19. Which model of Mauser actions? Pre 98's are not suitable for use with higher pressure cartridges.
  20. I'd go ahead and drill it for 8-40 and see if it cleans up. If not you can always weld later. JM2c
  21. I think Fire Ants more appropriate than lethal injection.
