  1. BETTER ON THE FOOT THAN ON THE BED.
  2. WOW, THANX FOR THAT.
  3. Primer pocket swaging tool by RCBS is used to remove the factory crimp from mil-surp brass primer pockets. It doesn't reduce the diameter of the pocket or make primers fit tighter.
  4. Just the thought of it severely increases the old pucker factor. A primer cup serves 2 functions. One is to of course hold the primer pellet and anvil in place until struck and activated by firing pin. The second and IMO most important from a safety standpoint is to act as a seal to keep that 50,000+ psi surge of hot gas pressure inside the cartridge case instead of loose in the bolt ways which is in a direct line with your face. I would much prefer putting faith in 140 yrs of firearms engineering rather than a drop of glue. Please smash em with a hammer and drop em in the scrap bucket. SAFETY FIRST
  5. Clarification please,...........do you mean cz24 or VZ24? The cz24 is a pistol. The VZ 24 is a large Ring Mauser 98 rifle. And yes the VZ24 is a full size 98 not an intermediate size.
  6. No Way Dude, Accuracy is all about consistancy not velocity. Yes, more modern higher pressure/velocity cartridges shoot flatter but not necessarily more consistantly.
  7. No Karl, not a moderator here nor on the MC forum. Just a transplanted hillbilly from the Ozarks who lives in Commyfornia and has poltical views that often parallel your own.
  8. Md 93 Mausers were originally chambered for the 7x57. Operating pressure for 7x57 is 46,000 CUP which is at or about 50,000 PSI. SAAMI pressure level of the 6.5x55 is also 46,000 CUP. SAAMI standard pressure for the 260 rem is 60,000 PSI. With safety first as the first rule of anything to do with firearms, If it was me doing this build it would be chambered in the venerable 6.5x55. JM2C
  9. What a unique and inovative way to put the fix on a busted stock. Looking Good
  10. Converting berdan primed cases to boxer is an invitation to disaster. Can it be done? Sure. Should it be done. Not by me. After reaming the anvil out of primer pocket and drilling a proper size flash hole for the boxer primers the combined flash hole would be huge. Part of the function of the flash hole is to regulate pressure and volume of hot gas into primer cup at time of ignition. Primer cup expands and seals the pocket. To big a hole = to much volume and pressure of hot gases BLOWING the primer rather than expanding the cup to seal. Remember that the first indicator of an overpressure load is a flattened primer. Safety First...........saving money on cases just isn't worth an eye or worse.
  11. gun nutty is right. I did the same long ago without near the mess. Simple Lee Loader has the depriming base and the depriming punch. Fill case full of water (outside of course) place on base insert punch and smack with a plastic hammer. AzRedneck is also right. After wasting the time to deprime 200 milsurp cases. Only then did I find out that Berdam primers are as rare as frog feathers on this side of the pond. And darn expensive. So they went into the scrap brass bucket and I was back to square one.
  12. +1 on what the others already said. I do believe ya screwed up some thought. That is just to beautifull to get all bloody or scratched.

    Remember

Definitely on the same page Ken. I have friends from the kid down the street (24 but still a kid to me) to a career Major in the Army that I think of everyday. While I pray for their safe return.
  14. BTDT many times over the years. No easy way, it just sucks, and the pain of the loss can only be offset in time by the joy of the memories. Been in this house over 30 yrs. If this lot is ever excavated someone will believe a satanist lived here.
  15. Another consideration in the rainbow trajectory of domestic factory ammo is that it is very anemic and no where close to being loaded to the full potential of the 8x57. US ammo makers probably have as many lawyers on staff as ballisticians. That old .318 bore cloud has a lot to do with it in this litigious society we are forced to live in. JM2C
  16. I find it ironically humorous that the Commyfornia State Legislature is controlled by the various civil service employees unions. Who spend billions in campaign donations and TV ads. They decide who does and does not get elected in this state. Like a bunch of mindless sheep these people always vote the way their respective unions tell them to. Which is always Lib-Tard candidates. Listen to them all squeal like pigs now that the chickens have come to roost and the state is broke because of the votes they themselves cast for these Morons in Sacramento. And it is themselves who will now be standing in unemployment lines. Yes, I know because I live in the Socialist Republic of SoCal.
  17. 742wd.........+1 250 Savage is well within pressure levels considered prudent for a small ring mauser.
  18. gun nutty..............+1 What is considered appropriate attire in a biker bar in the midwestern US cannot be considered OK when worn by a representative of the US Armed Forces abroad. IMO it has nothing to do with being overly PC it has to do with courtesy and respect for the host country where our military personnel are stationed. JM2C
  19. Case rimmed or rimless? Case lenght? Actual bullet dia? Yes, WCC is Western Cartridge Co. Stab in the dark, 40 S&W or 10mm if rimless. But neither was around in 1942.
  20. Your rifle, your call. The Timney Featherweight series is adjustable down to a few ounces. Does not require a new trigger guard. Double Set triggers been around for over a hundred years (way cool) but require a lot of meticulous fitting and tuning and a new longer (shotgun style) trigger guard.

  22. Hey! I'm a rat. But I ain't no stinking DEMO-RAT
  23. Yes, gasolene is volatile and should not be used indoors or confined spaces. (figgered everybody knew that) But it is cheap and fast for soaking parts and makes the scrubbing time much shorter after a pre-soak.
  24. Looks like crusty old dried cosmolene to me. Nasty stuff. Disassemble everything. Soak in gasoline. Even at $3 a gallon still the cheapest strong solvent around. Cut the top off of a milk jug or bleach bottle so the reciever will slip in. Stand it in a corner barrel up, drop everything else around it in the container, cover it all with gas and wait a few days before you even start scrubbing. More time on the calender but less time by the hr. scrubbing. BTDT..........JM2C
  25. tinker, You been terribly lied to if you were told Aaaanold is a staunch Republican. He is nothing more than a Lib-Tard Gun Grabbing Republocrat who rubberstamps every Liberal BS bill that comes out of the Ca, Legislature. All he needs is a few bottles of booze and a dead woman in a car to be just like his wifes Dead Uncle Ted. I live in the Lib-Tard Socialist Republic of Commyfornia.
