  1. Karl, We must look at the reasons why God commanded genocide, simply put it was because of idolatry that would pollute the Israelites as FC mentioned. Remember when the Israelites DIDN'T wipe out there enemies? God told them that they would be a "thorn" in their side, even unto this day. "Thorn" in Hebrew is "Hamas".... Anyways, the Bible is "all peace and love", it's just that most of us don't have God's point of view about peace and love. Peace doesn't always mean everyone gets along and sings songs, nor is love just happy feelings and free sex. We must wage war before we can have peace, whether that is war with our idolatrous nature or whatnot. Jimro
  2. Ah yeah, I remember that argument, the "Peak Production going into decline unable to meet growing demand". It is a valid argument, but one that does not address the fact that prices must become high to make it profitable to go to alternate technologies. As long as oil is cheap alternatives will not be explored. Since I don't see oil going any less than 35 bucks a barrel any time soon it looks like a safe bet that alternatives will show up on the market soon, driven by consumer request. Jimro

    Cocaine

Bad things happen in this life, and I am thankful that there are good people who work at the unpleasant jobs that make us safer, healthier, and just generally better off. The hardest thing in life is that feeling of powerlessness to make right some terribly evil act, or to heal some terrible hurt someone else is having. Some folks deserve the misery they make for themselves, but watching them inflict that misery on a child is heart and gut wrenching. So when things get tough, post how your day went, we'll keep listening and praying. You may not feel appreciated, but you are appreciated. Jimro
  4. I had the same problem with a forged bolt for my Turk, instead of rehardening I sprayed the camming surface with a little penetrating oil, wiped it down with a cotton rag, and it smoothed right up. Haven't had a problem with gouging or excessive wear yet. Rehardening won't hurt anything, but I'm pretty sure that even if you reharden you'll still have to use a little lubrication to get the cocking action smooth. Jimro
  5. Remember, if you shoot 'em on the porch, drag them inside for the cops to find....Washington ain't like Texas.... Jimro
  6. Doth mine eyes decieve me? z1r actually made a joke? First the Red Sox, now this, surely we live in the end of days... Jimro
  7. I've had great luck with the Corelite stocks, for deer season you can't go wrong. With all the work I'm doing to inlet a Boyd's JRS laminate I'm cursing myself for not just getting another corelight, but I wanted something a little different... Jimro
  8. President Bush cares for us servicemen more than Clinton ever did. He's been there running with the amputated, visited the maimed, and thanked us for our service. The bulk of the "essay" was nothing but a character attack. No one knows the inner heart of a man, no one is a mind reader to accuse another man of not caring, of not "knowing death". This is the worst kind of BS, cause I can't even fertilize anything with it. Jimro
  9. 2 million dollars buys a LOT of MOUTHWASH!!!!!!! Jimro
  10. Tony, http://www.forumhoster.com/ Check out their server cluster...sweet... http://www.forumhoster.com/index.php?page=serverconf 12 different pipelines means that we shouldn't be having connectivity issues, and if those servers run out of memory anytime soon I'll be in shock. Monthly fee to not have adds on the sight is 5 bucks, and storage is only 250 megs which means lots of text but not pictures. Transfering your Invision license over shouldn't be a problem, but if it is phpBB is free software opensource software that my brother inlaw recommended. Jimro

  12. x55 model, buy Lapua brand brass and SMK's or Scenars. If you are building on a m98 action you can push them a lot faster than on a 96 action, but I wouldn't recommend it if there is the slightest chance of the ammo getting into an m96. Of course the faster you push them the quicker your barrel will wear out, so a standard load that is accurate for you might be best. Then again you could always go with a wildcat like the 6.5-08 AI http://www.6mmbr.com/gunweek046.htm Jimrol
  13. Which is why recruiters need to go to Church. Christians don't suffer from holding life most precious. Greater love hath no man than this, that he should lay down his life for his friends. Jimro
  14. The education board doesn't have a leg to stand on legally, state of residence does NOT change for military deployment, EVEN TO ANOTHER STATE. I was stationed at Ft. Hood for three years and kept my WA residency. Somebody is harrassing this vet for their own purposes. I knew a soldier who was stationed at Ft. Hood who had to pay Iowa state tax every year so that he could keep residency there for school. Jimro
  15. There is perhaps nothing more to add, but that Westerners believe Life is most precious, and easterners believe that Honor is most precious. Jimro
  16. annealing brass is the solution if your brass starts cracking at the neck because it became work hardened. I wouldn't anneal just to anneal. Jimro
  17. So your wife's M1 has been modified to fire 308? Jimro

    Rem take-offs

If it was properly fitted for match grade accuracy it might possibly give support, however, since Rem700's are mass produced I'm going to say that they aren't properly fitted as a general rule, but the 3 rings mumbo jumbo has always been about "safety". Somehow encasing the cartrige in the chamber, bolt head, and reciever ring, is "safer" than a Mauser or winM70 which only uses the chamber and reciever ring. Of course the portion of the brass left "exposed" by a CRF rifle is the very strongest, thickest portion. One guy made a booboo reloading, filled his 300 Winmag full of VARGET (way too fast) and ruined his custom Rem700, peeled the barrel like a banana. However, since the action was trued and lapped so that the lugs bore evenly, he didn't recieve any injury, but his experience with putting a bomb in his 700 made me understand that the 3 rings of steel is more advertising than anything else. Heck, the Savage system leaves a portion of the case unsupported, and it's a helluva action. I think Sierra used one for their 338 Lapua magnum pressure tests. Jimro
  19. I distrust organized religions simply because the first order of business for any organization is the continuation of that organization, no matter what their mission statement says. I respect the men and women of God who take nothing and build up a body of believers. But like anything, poor couples don't argue over money until they get some, and often churches are the same way. The church leaders may see a need to expand the buildings, and if it is really a need a new church building will be built. However, if there is no need then Project 31 will fail, and divide the church. Jimro
  20. Once again z1r has given good advice, you really can't beat S&B. http://www.sb-usa.com/rifle_pages/sba85703_spec.htm http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/template...0839&hasJS=true Lapua, RWS/Norma, make 8x57 JS full power hunting ammunition as well, but for cost S&B is impossible to beat. You really only need full power loads for Elk, since the anemic American loads work just fine for deer at 30-30 ranges. But with the price of the S&B from Cabelas it doesn't make sense to buy American ammo. Jimro
  21. I guess I've been spoiled working on Fajen semi inletted stocks.... Thanks again for the knowlege. Jimro
  22. Congrats on your "Rock'em Sock'em Robots", they were before my time but I still play with LEGO's. Tony, keep up the good fight, we need good officers. I know too many docs to feel comfortable under the knife without a competent nurse around. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of great docs out there, just enough that aren't great that make me nervous. You can be my OR nurse any day of the week. As for taking the Head Nurse position, well, think of it as a learning experience. In my career I've been a training NCO, team chief, platoon sgt, acting first sgt, and various chogie boy positions along the way. Each job taught me something valuable to assist my soldiers later on. I hope that God blesses you in the same way, and gives you satisfaction in your work. Jimro
  23. The Mauser action can handle much harder kickers than the WSM's, I do not know the engineering specs as to when you are approaching "dangerous" levels, but pressure levels are on par with other magnums. The WSM's don't improve on the performance of their older brothers, they just do the same job with less powder because of a smaller more efficient case. Jimro
  24. My Father, James Roe Sr, was named after his uncles James and Roe. My father decided that he would name the first born son, and the first born daughter. So my older brother is named Vernon, and mom decided that she got to name the rest, so she named me after my dad. So I figure if I have three sons, the third gets to carry on the cur..I mean name. I've been using Jimro ever since setting up my first hotmail account. Jimro
  25. I picked up a laminated Boyds JRS stock for my Parker Hale 308 project, and after opening up the barrel channel I tried to fit the bottom metal to the barreled action, and the front screw doesn't align properly. The action is a Gew 98, large ring and I've tried the bottom metal I got with it, and bottom metal from a Turk 38 just to be sure I wasn't hallucinating. The large ring fits perfectly in the stock without the bottom metal. The bottom metal is tight to get it in position, the inletting is very tight and I'm leary of opening it up. However when the I try to put the two together the front screw hole doesn't fall into place like it should, it's catching on the "lip" of the bottom metal screw hole. So, did I get the wrong stock, did I pull a Jimro and order an M48 model stock, or is this just par for the course with Boyds stocks? Has anyone else ran into a similar problem? Thanks in advance. Jimro
