  1. I heard or read it also happened in Colorado and even went beyond Dr’s but to pharmacists also. What I ever happened to Trump’s right to try?? Guess I’m fortunate enough to be a few hours drive from a Mexican Dr and pharmacist if I need it. I wonder what kind of trouble one might get into bringing the Plaquenil or some of the other COVID fighting drugs I heard about on Fox News across the border. One Dr on Fox mentioned an Aspirin tablet could be beneficial in fighting COVID. My X got caught bringing pain and sleeping pills across and Customs made her dispose of the pills in a trash can on the Mexican side. I was challenged once several years ago bringing Cipro across during the Anthrax scare. I argued with a supervisor and he finally let me through after accusing me of buying it to resell telling me he would send a report to DEA.
  2. Rob don’t get involved, you will regret it and it destroys marriages. Let he know that you can’t physically stop her if she wants to step outside of your marriage vows but your morals won’t allow you get involved. I crossed paths with some of the so called swingers and open marriage types at the Post Office. Most if not all were divorced within two years after the activity started. One couple’s open marriage caused some threats with a gun and the police getting involved. The rumor mill said her husband arrived home a day early from his drag racing and caught his postal worker wife in the sack with a black guy, a USPS supervisor. She later resigned due to Meth use, violating a last chance agreement by failing a piss test.
  3. I had a real awakening today. A six inch club from Subway $10.80 and the 99 cent bags of chips are now $1.49. Add tax it was 13 and change out the door.
  4. Texans are very proud and love to boast about Texas independence history and being under six different country flags. I just can’t see the populace going along with being divided and residents swallowing their pride becoming a non Texan.
  5. I once got a free pass on a speeding ticket. I was doing about 40+ in a residential zone with a limit of 25. I bought a Pontiac from my brother in law, a Phoenix fire Captain. He had a round sticker on the bumper indicating he was a fire Capt. There was also a metallic disc attached to the trunk lid. It indicated his membership in a police/fire fraternal org. Cop after pulling me over approached my car saying slow down Captain. Cop walked back to his car, turned off the overheads then drove off like a bat out of hell. The way he sped off he probably was answering a call. My sister in law, the Captain’s wife wasn’t so lucky in the Pontiac. She unintentionally blew through a construction zone and was ticketed by a Deputy with no connection to the city. I don’t recall how much but in Arizona speeding fines double in construction zones if workers are present.
  6. Years ago I often partied with Fireman having two shoe string relatives that were Captains. Fireman by far are some of the biggest practical jokers you can imagine. I once got a ice cream cone with a chocolate swirl that turned out to be brown silly string. The silly string was made with soap. At a party they got a newbie’s wife to hide then told him they were short two me in the orgy in the bedroom asking if he was interested in joining or taking pictures. When their mark couldn’t find his wife he went to the bedroom then pounded on the locked door. As soon as he started knocking his wife came behind him in the hallway saying what are you doing in there. Several years ago a few guys I knew along with all the airport fire station employees got into deep trouble. They were partying on duty at the station with airline stewardesses.
  7. I’m not 100% sure if Texas can legally succeed from the USA but I recall hearing or reading Texas has a legal right going back to the original treaty when joining the country. Texas can without Congress’ approval divide into 4 or 5 states. It was mentioned as an ace in the hole if Democratically controlled Congress attempts to give statehood to Wash DC and Puerto Rico to gain four Senators.
  8. A version of Mao’s Great Leap Forward I suspect. Americans won’t stand by and let it happen. It’s success is about as believable as printed replacement organs by 2030. Hard to know that there are people ignorant enough to believe it.
  9. I wonder what the adjustment knobs on the tippets did as he continuesly Shows it starting up but kept at an idle speed. I can’t really see it as a success without cranking up the RPM’s.
  10. Going way-way back early 70’s. Gal I was dating, her father an air conditioning contractor was on the receiving end of a lawsuit. His specialty was installing large multiple A/C units on large buildings. He built a supporting structure using Japanese steel on top of a multi story building. From what his daughter told me the Jap steel wasn’t strong enough, rusted prematurely and started bending and collapsing from the weight. I quit seeing her before it was resolved and not sure how it ended.
  11. I see Red China propaganda being behind the video.
  12. The rise in the price of steel is just going to open the door wide open to foreign competition.
  13. Gutfeld is good for laughs only. I recorded him tonight as he has part one of his Trump interview. I’ll watch it later. I’ve wondered if the Fox announcers pushing their books have to pay for the advertising. With 30-60 second commercials costing thousands. I wonder if Fox is getting a cut of the book sales revenue. Seems to me I heard or read either the Pillow guy or Fox dropped him as a sponsor. Wonder why?? Have to admit I was getting tired of the Pillow Guy’s commercials pushing his autobiography. He boasted about going from a doper to a CEO. If I’m going to spend the bucks and time reading a book. There are a lot more interesting books and autobiographies out there. Dating myself, the last autobiography I read was either Lee Iacocca or the gun grabber Bernard Kerik.
  14. A year ago I rarely missed watching Tucker and Hannity. Lately I’ve wondered away as all I do is get pissed off. Tonight Tucker had a substitute announcer. At best I only watched the first half then onto Hannity turning it off after 15-20 minutes. All about Afghanistan and the five terrorists Obozo traded for Birdall now taking leadership positions in the Talibon govt. I have enough problems in my health and life in general to worry about and no sense raising my blood pressure getting PO’d over the Afghanistan cluster screw or Biden’s latest gaffe. Don’t know why, curious I guess I turned on CNN. Been on over an hour and not a single word about Afghanistan or the trapped Americans. The new Texas abortion law, global warming causing the recent hurricane and tornadoes and while I was typing right before the commercial somebody talking about the need to eliminate the electoral collage. Commercial over and now a report and old video about the “blood thirsty terrorists” attacking the Capital and our democracy. The Capital police preparing for another attack on the one year anniversary. Now it’s about Trump saying the California recall election will probably be rigged and the anti Vaxers are a cult. Every single COVID death repeating it again is preventable. I have to admit I found CNN’s news amusing. I didn’t get PO’d getting a laugh out of their slanted BS news reports. Now there’s a guy speaking with a heavy hick accent on why he won’t get vaccinated. I give up if I can’t find a decent movie I’ll watch Star Trek Enterprise reruns. CNN SUX!!
  15. I can recall as a kid in the 50’s. My track home neighborhood when it was built was way north of the city in the middle of nowhere. A paved road north of my house nearly every night a car drove over a Skunk stinking up the area. It was easy to locate it in the morning as Buzzards would be circling it in the sky. Every now and then a Skunk wondered into the hood. Usually a dog or cat would get sprayed. I remember mom once bringing in the laundry off the clothes line and washing it again. The airborne stench was in the clothes. Pretty much became used to, almost immune to the nearly nightly stench but when it was close it was hard to stomach. The county eventually drained a large nearby pond from a former and abandoned horse and donkey ranch and the wildlife and best of all mosquitoes started disappearing. Right after the pond was drained the county put up warning signs and a bunch of the old flame balls The paved road became slick from all the squashed toads and frogs leaving the area in and around the pond.
  16. As I said before I’m not to bright when it comes to money. I remember President Trump complaining about Red China devaluing their currency. Doesn’t make much sense to me but could it be the cause of China’s debt?? Best I can understand, Biden and Demoncrats out of control spending and the inflation it’s creating is devaluing our currency.
  17. No the Skunk wasn’t in his Jeep. The odor was in the upholstery. Possibly it was transferred from his clothing or some of the spray got inside his Jeep. My former brother in law was a paramedic. He told me he became immune to seeing and treating gunshot wound victims but just couldn’t get over seeing some shotgun wounds. He claimed on one call after a cop shot a bad guy with a shotgun. When he arrived the cop was on his hands and knees violently throwing up after looking at the wound. As my BIL started to describe the wound my then wife made him shut up.
  18. I’m not a money person and easily confused about the federal reserve, money supply, interest rates etc affecting inflation. What I do see now is we are on the way to matching or exceeding the inflation during the Carter era. I saw a brief news report today on tv. Food is up almost 5%. I didn’t hear if the increase is from the previous year or the beginning or Biden’s regime. Haven’t seen it yet but from what I recall of inflation as far back as Nixon. The shortages are coming, not just food but manufactured goods and imported products as well. I expect it to be worse this time around unless the Democratic majority in Congress isn’t turned around in 2022.
  19. From some of the chatter on the Cast Boolit board. Many of the longtime hardcore casters have eliminated the conventional lubing process and gas checks as well. Now favoring powder coating. I didn’t drive the Latex painted bullets very hard. No telling how they might stand up to Mag velocities. Seems to me though coating bullets with Latex paint as a real pain and I’m unsure of the method. I do know or probably better said what I was told working about eight weeks in a paint store. Latex is a form of water soluble artificial rubber. Might have just been hype from the manufacturer reps. I do recall the rubbery characteristics of the paint removed from Teflon coated cookie sheets. Looking back on this thread. That’s a smoking deal on the AR upper with a bolt carrier. One might expect to pay 2-3 times that today possibly more with the sometimes crazy pricing on bolt carriers and miracle barrels. A few years ago a stranger showed up at my gun club claiming his AR kits minus the lower receiver could be fired without any lubricant or routine cleaning. I don’t recall the dollar figure but do remember it was high enough myself and others quickly lost interest.
  20. Doc, I never got into powder coating but if I ever get back into casting and hand loading. I’d definitely start powder coating rather than the very time consuming lubing/sizing process. My only personal experience with powder coated bullets was with some loose gun show find 45’s suitable for 45 Colt. There were also about a dozen coated with Latex paint. I shot them up in a Rossi lever action and Ruger Blackhawk. Best I recall they were loaded on the mild side and left clean bores. I was especially surprised by the Latex coated bullets. I expected the bore to be painted white. Other than some loose tiny white particles the bore was clean.
  21. I wonder what a world map would look like today if Ron Paul had been elected President? Ron Paul wanted to bring all US troops home. Paul wasn’t just talking about the Mideast he also meant Europe, Japan and Korea.
  22. Flyer, first of all WELCOME!! I’ve had similar results using jacketed bullets to clear the leading. With my Rossi 38/357 lever action rifle. Years ago leading the bore considerably with home cast 38’s. I shot 4 or so rounds of hot charged, gas checked, hard cast 357’s to clean out the leading. The bullet lube I used on the hot 357’s required the use of a heater. I think it was the wax in the lube as it left the bore bright and very shiny. Lost the shine though with a patch likely soaked in #9 but the bore was spotless. Unfortunately I’ve had numerous incidents of jacketed bullets just iron out the barrel leading especially in the area near a revolver’s forcing cone. Since discovering the use of real copper, copper wool and bore paste. Leaded barrels are no longer the former king sized pain in the donkey. In the early 70’s, I was new to shooting and a real rookie to hand loading. Not knowing better I loaded store-bought cast lead to max or near max 357 velocities. The bore was a mess and I struggled spending a lot of time trying to clean it out of a 1970’s S&W Model 19. Asking for advice on the CB radio. An old man whose handle was Weak Eyes chimed in. “Grandpa used to cork up the bore after adding vinegar and let it sit overnight”. Desperate I tried it and by morning the first patch cleared it all out. It worked but probably not a good idea as the vinegar is acidic. I lost that pristine Model 19 to a thief in 1989.
  23. I don’t know about shooting a Skunk with anything. When I was a kid in the 50’s. A neighbor shot a Skunk with a 22 and he smelled bad and I do mean bad for several days. The stench lingered in his old Jeep Waganeer for a long time. According to my mother and it might have been treated by an old wives tale remedy. His family treated him by drenching with and scrubbed him with tomato soup and juice to kill the odor. He spent most his time outside in the backyard for several days.
  24. I’m a firm believer in a shotgun for home defense but obviously not for open or concealed carry. I prefer #4 buckshot and have my Turk Bennelli clone with a Beretta spreader choke handy if the need arises. For concealed carry I’m confident with my 38 snubby. During the short cold period here in Phoenix I might carry something bigger more powerful with a higher capacity than my 5-shot 38. As far as mouse guns a 32, 25 or 22 RF seems to me any headshot should instantly stop an attacker. Torso hits different especially when dealing with a bad guy high on drugs not feeling pain from the wound. A Phoenix cop I knew while I was a teenager claimed. Most bad guys when shot will stop and fall regardless of caliber or location of the wound. He said the falling part is an act of submission relaying you win don’t shoot me again. He claimed in his early 60’s training. One instructor favored shooting bad guys in their pelvis as being the most effective way to stop an attack or runner because it was the most painful. The cop I mentioned took on a fatherly role to many kids myself included in my neighborhood. He only shot his gun once in over 20 years of service and missed. The only bad guy he saw get shot and killed a was by a detective with a shotgun. He claimed the armed robber was literally blown backwards off his feet. Years ago I saw the aftermath of a shooting. I didn’t see it happen but from one witness told me I hope I never see it happening. When I arrived the body was gone. Just like on TV the area was marked where he fell. Unlike TV the victim didn’t die instantly. He begged for help as he coughed up blood before passing out. The sick part was seeing how much of his blood and urine pooled up in a curb. The victim had just repossessed a car and stopped at a nearby pay phone. The shooter on foot with a 357 caught up to him in a convenience store parking lot and shot him twice. Later I learned the female store clerk that witnessed the shooting. Was so distraught that paramedics took her to the hospital. According to my then next door neighbor. She spent a few days in the hospital, underwent psyc care and was eventually given a permanent disability by worker’s comp.
  25. I remember watching The Big Picture when I was a kid. A friend’s cousin, a former US Army Officer used to recruit and train Mexicans joining the Army in the late 60’s. The video said five years but best I recall he told six years, speaking English and passing a test before being granted automatic citizenship.
