  1. I agree, a lathe is the best bet. Several years ago I got a Ruger Redhawk in a multiple gun trade. The Ruger’s barrel had been shortened with a half-assed crown. A gun smith removed the barrel and put it into a lathe. He re-crowned the barrel and did an excellent job rounding out the sharp edges on the end of the barrel. Afterward the 3 1/2” barrel chambered in 44 Mag is now a good shooter. A night vs day improvement in the shot to shot accuracy.
  2. Just curious Fly. In Arizona any motorized vehicle. Be it an electric golf cart or even a motor assist bicycle. Has to be licensed and have liability insurance if used on public roads. Once upon a time in most Arizona counties an emission test was required to be licensed. Seems kind of silly an electric golf card had to be emissions tested. Guess the state and the company contracted to do the testing didn’t want to give up the revenue.
  3. Looks like Fly is more than a rifle builder but an artist as well. Some of the sporter projects I recall seeing in 1970’s gun shows. Many that the builder installed a coin. Most were silver or half dollars in the buttstock.
  4. Great job!!! I love those Amish hand made slings. Unfortunately I traded them away. Both were thicker copies of the US 1917 GI slings. One young guy I did a trade with for my Chinese copy of the GI Winchester 1897 shotgun. Looked intensely at the sling saying something to the effect “oh wow a real BAR sling”. I kept my mouth shut.

    Baldwin

My guess the prosecutor will slow walk it knowing he will be going against high powered defense lawyers. Maybe something similar to OJ’s dream team. I imagine there are probably some negotiations currently going on between Baldwin’s lawyers and prosecutors before he is actually charged with anything.
  6. Sounds like it will be Venison rather than Turkey for the clan at Christmas.
  7. Mine gets the local Phoenix channels via YouTube TV.
  8. I believe I have something similar I think it’s name is Firefox. My son a computer Guru hooked it up to my desktop. Costs me about 50% of what I was paying for satellite with a much larger variety of programs. I opted for Netflix, HBO, Amazon Prime video and Prime music. I do have to be careful and click on the free to me program guides and it’s set up so I have to jump through some hoops if I’m willing to pay for a movie, some sporting vents etc.
  9. Just curious, does it have a basement? A custom home builder I used to deliver his mail in the early 90’s. Was in what was rural but the city grew around. Still had dirt roads, cattle and horses in the area. He picked up where the previous horse rancher had left. It started out as two Japanese internment camp buildings. The new guy built a large two story house behind but still attached to the camp buildings. He told me it was a never ending job and he will likely be building and improving until he’s to old or dead. His trophy and I do mean trophy wife once gave me a quickie tour of the camp buildings. The front was fixed up into living quarters but the one in the rear was just for storage of building materials. The addition when I saw it was framed, wired and partially plumbed. I never saw it, the wife said there were once remnants of a guard tower the previous guy just let it go to waste. I heard from the mailman that replaced me most of the construction in the area had stopped. The city would not issue new building permits until the property owners paid out thousands to get hooked up into the city sewer lines.
  10. I don’t know why but Horny Toads die off quickly in captivity. Myself and numerous other kids would catch them, stick them into something like a shoe box and they would die within a day or two even if we put in plenty of bugs to eat and water.
  11. My mother got freaked out over a TV. The TV died and it sat untouched for several months. One day she was vacuuming and the TV came on for a few minutes with the volume cranked up then died again. She was really scared as it was just a few months after her father died. She thought he was angry with her because of the loud volume. I drove over and it took me about 30 seconds to figure out the plug was bad. Mom apparently moved the TV or cord while vacuuming. It wasn’t until I installed a new plug on the cord, the TV stayed on and she finally relaxed.
  12. Me neither but I have seen UFO’s. Two for sure and one a maybe.
  13. Great pics Fly. Growing up in the 50 and 60’s as a kid. Coming across Horny Toads or Desert Tortoises was very common. Now that I think about it. It’s been close to 50 years since I’ve seen either one in the wild. The last Horny Toad I saw, I pried out of my Collie’s mouth in the mid 70’s.
  14. Way back in 1975 I had a head injury and brain contusion. I did have some spooky events likely from hallucinating or the long list of pills prescribed by several Worker’s Comp Drs. To this day I still don’t know why at about 2-3AM. I took a decorative Maya calendar off the wall then beat it to pieces with a hammer on my carport. I’m told because I don’t remember. When the noise woke up my X and she confronted me. I just got up and went back to bed without saying a word. I had a few other spooky events usually from awakening from a dream in the middle of the night or dozing off in the afternoon. My guess I was likely hallucinating. I did some silly things as I went through the healing process. It took awhile before CAT Scan technology was available in Phoenix. A very good neurologist discovered the contusion on my brain. He went way above the call of duty challenging numerous reports from Worker’s Comp Drs. Despite a challenge from a state comp bureaucrat he eliminated the majority of the pills. The neurologist had a particular hard on for a state comp shrink. Before the contusion was diagnosed. The state shrink had me labeled as a fraud. Claiming it was all psychological and I likely read on how to fake Grand and Petite Mall seizures. The neurologist chuckled when he told me the shrink will either retract his reports or I will bury him in paperwork. Unfortunately he wouldn’t tell me the details of him locking horns previously with the shrink. Although I had some spooky and freighting events. Nothing that had me fearing or believing 24/7 in spooks, ghosts or voices from nowhere as my elderly aunt had. I really loved my aunt and felt obligated to take care of her. She never had any children and spoiled my younger brother and I rotten as my mom said. After my first divorce I moved in with her and she continued spoiling me as an adult. Buying me clothes, a new bed, did my laundry including ironing my shirts and great food. I had to stop her from buying me a new pickup after I was up late one night changing a water pump. Sorry again for the keyboard rambling. Hopefully I get a desperately needed knee replacement soon, get back my mobility and off my ass. I’m currently bored stiff.
  15. When I was taking care of my 92 year old aunt. She swore there were spooks in the house. She refused to go into the bedroom my mother died in by herself. She had a locksmith install a dead bolt on the door and it took me several weeks of coaxing her into a key. I live about a mile away and numerous times she called me scared shitless of spooks. One time it turned out to be one of those talking Furby toys she swore was a ghost. She insisted I had to burn it and I lied about it. I installed one of those systems she could press a button on a necklace for emergency help. She called me about 2:00 AM. She was freaking out and really scared. By the time I got there police and a fire truck was out front. Apparently she moved the emergency alert box and a lady started talking to her. I don’t know the conversation went but the woman speaking to her through the system informed 911. She was so shook up the fireman insisted I take her to a hospital ER or they would take her in an ambulance. At the hospital nurse gave her an injection that finally calmed her down but turned her real mean. Calling the ER Dr everything but a white man. The Dr and RN tried to convince her it was safe to go home and there is no such thing as spooks. Big mistake when the ER Dr told her ghosts or the dead can’t speak to her. My aunt said “how about the Holy Ghost, are you a Jew or an atheist”. Then started talking about the resurrection of Christ. The Dr tried to get her to spend 24 hrs in their convalescent facility. I said no after having her there a few months prior and having the bill declined by Medicare. I had to take her back. The Dr forked up a prescription. The dosage was 1 or two tablets the milligrams, grains or whatever was 1.0 but he drew the zero through the decimal point and the pharmacist swore it was a ten. I got a voided Xerox copy from the pharmacy but needed a magnifying glass to see the decimal point. I later used it to beat the hospital down on the bill. I had a previous situation with myself and got the hospital to write off my ER bill. After my aunt was sky high from the overdose, she began hallucinating claiming she could see the spooks. Telling me don’t you recognize your mother and dad looks so young. She looked at the wall saying “where’s mom”. Earlier that day her and I went through old photos including grandpa’s WWI photos. She began drooling, I feared she had a stroke and promptly returned her to the ER. After being up all night and sleepy I left after they put her in a room. When I returned in the afternoon she was perfectly normal and no longer feared the spooks. She still insisted there were spooks in the house but they couldn’t scare or bother her as long as she had a crucifix around her neck. She had been visited before I arrived by a Catholic priest. and did the Catholic confession and communion thing. Sorry guys, I’m bored stiff. Guess I better go and unload any of my loaded guns. After watching the news I learned guns can fire without pulling the trigger. I guess guns can also aim and point on their own according to Alec!!
  16. There are plenty that do. My first wife had a job at Motorola. All she did was inspect electronic chips and circuit boards for cracks through a microscope. She didn’t seem to mind, saying it was much better than the various waitress jobs she had in high school. She liked being able to spend eight hours sitting compared to standing. Back in 69 I had a horrible job in a cabinet factory. The lady that hired me gave me the impression I’d be learning a craft as a cabinet maker. All I did was vibrate sand cabinet frames. I was thrilled when work slowed down, they asked for volunteers before doing any layoffs. I didn’t waste any time volunteering and I got a whopping $50 severance. It was the first real job I had out of high school, I hated it but had to make a car payment and insurance. I was scared to quit fearing I’d lose my car.
  17. Fly I tried the cinnamon this morning but used to much. It wasn’t bad but the cinnamon was overpowering the coffee taste. Tomorrow I’ll use less. I remember well the day old ice tea when I was a kid. It did give me an excuse to add way to much sugar.
  18. I wonder if that isn’t the trick to best I ever had from a mom and pop coffee shop. If you asked the proprietor for his recipe he’d try and sell an expensive coffee maker from Sweden and outrageously priced frozen coffee beans and a grinder. A former girlfriend fell for it. She made a great cup of coffee with her fancy machine and African beans but couldn’t quite duplicate it. I’ve heard just a pinch of baking soda takes away the harshness but all it did for me was make it taste salty. I’ll try the cinnamon tomorrow morning.
  19. I rarely bother to look anymore with most everything coming from overseas Red China especially. With what is now being called Joe-flation, labor shortages, higher wages, increased energy costs. Manufacturing Trump brought back is or soon will be going back to foreign countries. THX JOE for some reason I don’t think he gives a sh!t. A couple months ago I splurged at Wally’s for some small appliances. I got an iron, ironing board, toaster and waffle iron. I looked and everything even competing brands were all made in China. A few weeks ago I bought a hand mixer from Dollar General. I didn’t bother to look where it was made, bought the cheapest one as its all coming from China. In the next few weeks I want to buy another croc pot. I dropped and broke the glass lid on mine and the low setting no longer woks Unless I buy a used one from Goodwill I very seriously doubt I can find one made in the USA.
  20. Hope the whole gang here had a great Thanksgiving. I ate way-way to much but couldn’t help myself.
  21. Thx Fly, I used Cedar when I had my uniform business. Two of my sewing machines were on Cedar. I had a particular problem with parcels from the New York garment district bringing along huge moths. So large they set off the burglar alarm a couple of times. After the lights were off there were small lights on the motion detectors the moths landed on creating just enough shadow to set it off. Often the moths were dead on arrival but after the second time of getting up in the middle of the night to turn off the alarm. I carefully opened the New York parcels out side. I had a vendor from Bay City Michigan and occasionally there would be Cedar shavings in the package. I’m going to take your advice and swing by Tractor Supply. I currently have plenty of mothballs in the closet but obviously not 100% effective. I’ll likely invest into another bug zapper. So far so good on the shirts and pants I’ve checked.
  22. I just can’t imagine a combined gender shower and locker room in high school. I imagine there are or will be plenty of girls refusing to shower or even change clothes with very curious boys watching. In all honesty as a teenager I’d rush to the lockers and showers to sneak a peek. In my high school there was a narrow sidewalk near a fence to the girl’s lockers and showers. Any boy walking down that sidewalk had to have a good excuse for being there. Tony I gave up years ago trying to figure out the minds of libs. Most if not all believed the world owes them and the govt has an unlimited supply of money. They believe inflation is caused by corporate greed. “It’s not fair” should be consolidated into a single word for the libs as it Is their favorite phrase. You can’t argue with them, confront them with facts they avoid the issue and start name calling. Today it’s white privilege during the time I was active aa union rep. I was a right winger, gun toting Republican, flag waving cowboy and a few coworkers would greet me with “dittos” mocking Rush’s on air greeting to callers. However I never failed to get re-elected.
  23. What caliber is is it?? I’m guessing 6.5 or 7X57 from the loading data.
  24. As I was getting dressed for my son’s wedding this past Saturday I discovered two suits were destroyed by moths. The past few months I’ve been leaving my back door open for my dog. Didn’t take the moths long to invade. I set up two bug lights, added more mothballs in my closet and cut back the time my back door was left open for my dog. Fortunately I had two other suits in plastic bags that survived the invasion. I still have to check all my button down shirts hanging in the same closet. My closet door right next to my dog’s bed would occasionally get knocked open 2-3 inches. I realize this forum isn’t exactly where one goes for laundry tips. If anybody here has had similar problems with moths. I’m begging for advice and suggestions. I’m not a domestic goddess but since my X parted company I’ve handled everything so far. Being lazy I decided to jump on the net and put it off another day going through my shirts.
