  1. Jimro I wish you and yours all the best. You've always struck me as someone who had their head screwed on straight so I'm sure that what ever you decide you'll do well at.Thanks for your service, and know that for what good it'll do, your in the prayers of this ole heathen. Jim
  2. As usual I'm a day late and a dollar short but howdy Dave ,good to hear from ya' and hope you come around often. Jim
  3. Three doctors were sittin' at the bar in their country club bragging when the first said ,I had a man brought to me that had lost his arm in a car accident, I was able to reattach it and he went on to be a proffesional golfer. The second said well I had a man brought in who had lost both legs in a wreck I was able to save them both and now he is a winning marithon runner. The third said that's nothing, when I was in Texas a man riding a donkey wearing a cowboy hat was run over by a train ,all I could save was the ass and the hat but it went on to be president. Hope you get a chuckle out of that one flaco,I did , and I voted for him both times.... Jim

  8. Jerry, sure glad you had a big time!I've been wonderin' about you, good to know you busted a biggun' and are home safe.Did that boar smell anything like sausge pizza ?Everytime I smell sausage pizza it reminds me of boar hogs, smells just like em',but hell why wouldn't they?Thier made out of old boar hogs. Jim
  9. Howdy Flaco,I used old britches legs to make my sand bags too but I just went down to the creek and filled them with sand and used zip ties on em'.They are a little heavy to pack if your going very far,I've thought about using corn or beans but not rice to lighten things up but was afraid that they might be to crawly to really hold a rifle steady,I've shot off tow sacks of grass seed and they work pretty well as long as they are pretty full, did you fill your rice bags pretty full ?I'd like to try and save some wieght if I could even wonder about corn cob polishing media? Jim

  15. Gunnutty, I picked up one of these .308 93s a couple days ago at my favorite gunshop,a guy walked in wanting it fixed ,said the saftey didnt work and it snapped on rounds but didnt set them off, said he bought it that way for $35.The boy that owns the shop said he wouldnt work on it cause it was a bomb waiting to go off, without looking at it I told him the bolt was probably put together wrong but Id give him $50 for it ,he went for it and I fixed it by pulling the cocking piece back putting the saftey back in the neutral position and screwing the shroud in one more turn.At first I was going to part it out using the barrel on a Turk and the bottom metal on a yugo but may just go your route.Davis does do very nice work,he will get this bolt if I do it.Mine has the Ser. number stamped down the top side of the bolt handle ,did yours and did Davis leave it or did it disapear when forged and polished ?Thanks Jim
  16. Howdy tinker, not to say it aint out there cause it sure may be but I've not seen it,I've got a buddy thats mean mad and crazy about parkerizing, and I've seen him use cold blue on some parked stuff if it was just a sharp edge on something that had worn down to bare metal,I've also seen him use some of the bake on finishes over parkerizing with very good results and he will some times give a fresh parked gun a light coat of good flat black spraypaint to even out the color as parts made of different metals will come out of his park tank different shades.Probably didn't help a bit but maybe it'll give you an idea. Jim
  17. I started to say I didn't know they piled it that high, but then I remembered that this is in Texas(aint everything bigger there?). Jim
  18. fritz, they are coming just not here yet you are right. They have a real problem with them over around Fort Wood about 40 miles southeast of here.At one time a few years ago that was the only place I know of that you could hunt wild hogs in Mo. and alot of folks went over to the fort just for that, they even gave a short class at the fort you had to take before you could hunt on the base, but 9-11 put a stop to that and the hogs are breedin and spreadin like hogs and someones been turning Russians out too so the conservation dept. boys came out with the shoot on sight reg a couple years back .... to little to late you know the story.I'll remember the barbque it would have to help. Jim
  19. Just wonderin' what deer season amounts to in everyone elses' neck of the woods. Here it's a religious holiday lol... that runs Nov.12-22 thats what they call the november portion. Its the regular centerfire rifle season.A tag cost residents $17.00 this is what Missouri calls a any deer tag ,it allows you to kill a doe or a legal buck.To be legal in my county a buck can be a button,a spike with spikes shorter than 3 inches or a buck with at least 4 points on one side. You are allowed only one buck per season. You can also buy antlerless deer tags which are good for does or button bucks for $7.00 each and in this county you can buy as many of these as you want. You are allowed to hunt with any ceterfire pistol, revolver or rifle using expanding-type bullets, shotguns with slugs only,muzzleloaders.40 cal and larger all kills are to be checked in over the phone or internet(both new this year) on the day killed.Muzzleloader only season runs Nov.25-Dec.4,you use the same tags for this season so if you killed a buck with your centerfire you cant with your front stuffer.About 2/3s of the state has a antlerless only portion runningDec.10-18(my county aint one of em that does) There is also a youth only season for kids 6-15 on Oct.29-30 and its for 1 deer of either sex. Bow season runs Sept15-Nov11-Nov23-Jan15 limit 2 bucks and all the does you want.No hunting at night, with dogs or over bait (gun or bow).If you own at least 5 acres your tags are free as long as you hunt on land you own or lesse, this applies to all immediate family living on the place. So how much different is this from where your at?? Jim
  20. Tom, they weren't the best thing I ever threw a lip over, they had a odd texture I'd guess you'd say ,best described as chewy and stringy and even though they had been smoked there was still just a little bit of a odd flavor to it.I figure if I'd gotten them up and corn feed em a while they would have been better cause I'm sure all they've had to eat for a while is acorns and what corn they could pick out of cow schitt. They werent sorry enough to ruin the taters and beer! And the hounds made short work of the left overs, but I would way rather have a mess of Double Troubles' squirrel. Jim
  21. You nailed it Jerry!Nothing in the world like seeing happy kids, the older and tireder I get the more I enjoy it. Jim
  22. It'd likely either not function properly or else beat it's self to death... or maybe just work like a charm,MB you've described it perfect.I'm sure converting it would only make things worse as this POS has really been a lemon.I've thought about just trading it to someone for a good club but like I said earlier ,hate to skin anybody that way . Jim
  23. Thanks MB, bout how I figured it.Isn't it amazing how they shoot?I've seen more then one guy with their favorite .22 centerfire embarassed by the .17 rimfire!I'd thought about trading this thing but honestly hate to do that to someone, not Remingtons finest work. Jim
