Have been working off and on now for a few months on the shop so that I had a better place for the projects and have finally gotten it about finished up. As it stands now it is about 188 sq. ft. of shop area and 96 sq ft of storage. I have gotten the shop area air conditioned as well. Sure is nice to have a good place to work in for a change. Too hot on those summer days in Georgia without the ac. It has kept me somewhat busy so I really haven't been getting any posting done. Still checking in each day though. swamp_thing

fritz, you bring up a valid question which I had considered and very possibly it was an aid, but I have no way of knowing. I would like to think that the senator responded but cannot verify that. I did let him know that my future voting choices would be decided upon which actions he takes on matters such as this. Having said that, I would bet that as Doble states he will at least get the general drift of my letter reported to him in one way or another. The fact that I got any responce is more than many politicians would do, so I guess I consider myself somewhat fortunate. Now I only have to observe his further actions to see if my letter and the voices of others are indeed heard. swamp_thing

Thank you Doble for the positive response. I must say that it feels much better knowing that I have taken the time to make an effort to let my views be known. It is far too easy to sit back and complain while doing nothing, then wondering why things only get worse. Not going to be the case with me again. Well, just when I thought I had written to my senator only to have it fall on deaf ears, I must say that I got a great response from Saxby Chambliss, Georgia Senator. In his response he has stated his views on the illegal immigrant issue and border security. This includes that fact that he is fighting for more border patrols, more equipment and does not agree with any form of amnesty for those here. As he stated we are a country of immigrants, but we are also a country of laws, which must be enforced. He does not support the latest views of the senate to grant any type of amnesty and states he will continue to fight to keep that from becoming a reality. I hereby give him high marks for his beliefs and will support him on these issues. Karl, as you can see, at least not all efforts fall on deaf ears. Thanks for your persistance on getting people to get involved. Maybe together, we can get the results this country deserves. swamp_thing

Good plan. Only thing I could think of to improve upon it would be to make the hole bigger and throw in 72 wild boars, one for each of the virgins he was supposed to get for his deed. Heck, just throw him in the hole alive with the 72 boars and let them do the deed. Then cover the whole mess up and forget it. Revenge is sweet, is it not? swamp_thing

Now, if you could just send one copy to the president, along with all the national media sources demanding front page coverage. Of course, we might have to visit you in some remote location afterwords, but truer words have not been spoken. swamp_thing

Karl, let us pray that the masses will hear the call and begin to speak out about how they feel. This country needs to have the people regain control of what is taking place. Complacency is rampant and will be the ruination of our fine country. Let the will of the people be done, and that can only be done if the people voice their will to begin with. swamp_thing

If we all sit back and do nothing while the mexicans protest for their supposed rights, we will loose this country to their way of life. Want that? fritz, I must apologize. I am fifty and I missed three, two I did not know and one I gave the name of the song instead of whom it was a tribute to. Guess I should read the whole question before answering. Still, I'm betting that there are many amoung us that will fair far worse than I did on this one. Yes, I too have always been told that this is their belief, and they are indeed trying to carry it out in many places. My reference to whether it is true was the fact of whether Rick Mathes actually handled it this way in the class. As far as the Muslims are concerned, we non Muslims are poison to them and must be destroyed. I have one friend that tries to insist they are a peace loving group, but I wonder how he explains all the times they do things that prove otherwise. swamp_thing

The following was sent to me and I did look it up on "Truth or Fiction" Although the people who run that site did contact Rick Mathes and he verified the story to be true, some folks dispute it. All followers of Allah have been commanded to kill everyone who is not of your faith so they can go to Heaven. Is that correct?" I then stated, "Well, sir, I have a real problem trying to imagine Pope John Paul commanding all Catholics to kill those of your faith or Dr.Stanley ordering Protestants to do the same in order to go to Heaven!" DT, seems as though I did see a schematic on something on the lines of radar a while back. I will look around and see if I can find it. I would have to say that about anything can be built, given enough time, money and patience. I have the time, but the rest can be a real show stopper sometimes. My patience is somewhat lacking and I seem to thrive on the gratification that comes quickly. When things really get haywire I find myself working a different project. Of course, I do go back from time to time and solve some of the tough ones. swamp_thing

Sorry if I am boring folks with radio news, but I have just completed a build on a three tube radio and have to tell someone. It is superior to the crystal sets in selectivity and performance by a long shot. I have really started to get into this farther than I expected to. It is like the rifle building in that once you start it continues to eat at you to do more and more. Now for the amplifier and power supply. swamp_thing

I personally used the ati mount on the first one I did. It is pretty easy to line up as per the instructions sent with it. It also helps if you have a set of calipers. You can place one jaw of the calipers on the bottom of the receiver and the other across the top of the mount as a means of centering the mount on the receiver. I think Steve Wagner has some info on this on his site. My second mount was made from blank weaver mount stock patterned off the ATI mount. Others have often used the side mounts and I am sure they will add their experiences and info as well. Is it a round receiver or hex? The ATI mounts are made really for the round receivers, but can be used on both. swamp_thing

Tony, even when times were tough after the crash and with the first invision site, many stayed on and with your intense efforts the site has remained and is continuing to prosper. Your vision and perserverence have proven to be well placed. While you have said that it is the people on the site that make it what it is, if not for your hard work and determination there would be no site to come to. Give yourself a pat on the back and except the thanks that come from all of us. swamp_thing

I'm a fifty year old ex automotive mechanic who enjoys sporterizing as well as a few other hobbies including simple crystal and tube radios. I tend to dive into each hobby with what my family describes as an obsession. I will stay at a project relentlessly until it is completed, all the while thinking of what I will do next. This does tend to bring about burn out after a time. Thus, the need to have several hobbies from which to bounce back and forth in. As of late I have not done much in the way of smithing, but will find my way back to it before too long. Numerous health issues have limited my ability to get out and shoot so I find my gun related pleasures mostly in building that next rifle. One thing I manage to do every day is come to the site here and read what everyone else is up to. swamp_thing
