  1. no marching were lucky to just get outside for firewood..we got hit hard here with ice...1 1/2" of ice stop"s everything ..powers been off several times..lots of tree limbs down...power lines.. got plenty of dry wood .. i"ll take snow anyday over ice..
  2. a barrel for a .405 is not easy to come by...not like a .458 barrel for a 45/70 ..midway does show one in stock for a .405 at $123.00
  3. horsefly poke is way to strong for me ..always liked mine with sweet tators ..possum early in the spring is best ..not as greasy
  4. from what have tried and read feeding is the real issue with the mn..seem like this thing was built around the 7.62x54 in all aspects but please have at it..
  5. at the end of the day its always about oil and whos controlling it..we should have spend the billion on an energy independence program for the U.S. ...SAUDI it looking out for the house of SAUDI not us..
  6. are these iron sight on a mil. barrel or a sporter barrel..mil barrels that are solder on can be heat and turned...sights that are screwed on and you don"t want to remount them...then the barrel will need to trimmed to make them come into time..then the head space set..there are people who add spacers and some just epoxy the barrel in..but these aren"t on my list of fixes.....
  7. here in okie land its pretty much wide open ..after they passed the stand your ground law..you can defend your self any time you feel in danger.....
  8. something to look for on a lathe .you"ll need a least 36" between centers and 1 1/8" hole in chuck with a low speed of 50 to 70rpm..the tooling adds up fast..... when asking about the cost of a used lathe all ways check out what tools come with it ....boring bars, live dogs, faceplates..taper chucks....a good list of tools will cost 1/2 the price of the lathe
  9. horsefly is that barrel a large ring or small?
  10. nice clean lines...a real eye catcher
  11. i use a wheeler on mauser receivers and i drill them all the way through the top ring. with barrel removed .now be sure you notch the front support bushing so that it doesn"t hit the rail on the left side front..this may happen on turks ...... be sure the jig is all the forward so that you don"t drill into the top locking lug.. of coarse this is just my thoughts on a wheeler jig....it does a good job for me....
  12. skeeter is that a java green peafowl? i raised ringnecks for comercial hunts in years past..ran about 120 hens to raise my own eggs..but it got to time consuming..sold out of peafowl this spring..still got some brown egg laying hens..can"t beat fresh eggs nice stock by the way
  13. this is one place i look when i"m trying to find if a new cartridge will cleanup a old chamber http://www.clymertool.com/cgi-bin/reamer.cgi

your right about a honest answer..been tring to get a .45acp enfield adapter from rhineland for 6 mo. keep getting the run around ..the say its been shipped ,, then tell me next week...weeks later they say any day now...only problem is they are the only place i can get one....and the rifle is all finished..so i"m stuck
  17. this is the best and easiest stuff going http://www.vandykestaxidermy.com/product/01003502/
  18. i think its going to be hard to find a target /bull barrel threaded for a small ring..one way to go is a f54 or f99 a and b blank .......http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=121851{cut and paste} and get someone to thread it to fit....but it is not chambered and for this you"ll need a lathe or pay someone...have you removed the front lip on the k kale?
  19. yes it can....as i see it your biggest problem is unscrewing and remounting barrel..your going to need to make something for this...do you have access to a welder? if you don"t hold the action correctly you can twist it ,making it unusable..do some web surfing and read up on this part of the job..you can buy a short chambered barrel and adjust the head space as needed.. what caliber and stock do you have in mind? you are using a k kale so i will throw in this site for you to look at.. http://www272.pair.com/stevewag/mmrifle/mmrifle.html jim what state are you in?
  20. best thing to do is send it out ...
  21. i was using pilkingtons and have for years..but i thought i"d try the brownells...after the second gun...i ordered 2 more bottles just to make sure i could get it..thats how much i like it...but this is just me..i think its a deeper blue and gives faster results...now it will be sometime before i know how will it wears.it applys the same way
