update ..got the barrel on..now tring to get the feed right..i cut the follower off just in front on bullet..this only helps on the last bullet..i need something there full time...neat how the mag and mag latch holds everything in postion.
barrel looks as big as a .410 shot gun

ready to start a new project..rebarrelling to a .44rem mag..have already turned barrel ....ready to pull barrel....the .44 mag fits the clip but want feed because it to short, may not eject very well ...if you just drop in the round it works real good as single shot..but i"m going to do something about a clip.. these work good as 30-40 krag , .410 or .444 marlin..
any thoughts?

mausers metal is low in carbon...so you don"t heattreat them ..you add extra carbon to the surface..called caseharding..
" google " caseharding of metal..it will tell you more ..
by the way got the parts on the way for that steyr project.will have some pics up in a few days

strange they only list failures from other countries ...what about the failures in the U.S healthcare..

the 30-40 is said to be an easy cal. swap

very nice , your becoming quite a builder..never owned a sweed myself

this is is all thats needed for this mod. the pic of the mag body has 2 1/8 " rods soldered to the inside of mag to keep bullets from moving to the front on recoil..lucky the mag has a nice shoulder in just the right place for them to set..
the feed ramp is not needed but fills in front ...cleans up the looks..the insert is made from 1" sq. tubing, has a piece of 1/8" keystock soldered in the front for the mag to hold on to..have fired 50 round that function great

it"s a single stack ak..yes the barrel was from numricks ...the barrel looks like a old truck axel on the outside needed a lot of lathe time to cleanup..i"ll pull out the parts and post a pic of them for you ...filling the old trigger guard was for looks only..
the mag was the real work...needed a 1/4" wedge added to the top of the follower to tilt the shells up in the front to keep the rims from hanging up..thats why the enfield mags are shaped the way they are ..

you say if it caught .i would pass on it..are you just looking at the worst case ?
what area do you live in..?

i"ve done the smle enfield in 45 acp,45-70 amd 44 mag....the mag is the biggest problem..i know some people have done 45-70 styer...but have not tried one myself looks like its next on the list..this type of smithing cost way to much to have done ..
. i have a lathe and the time ...i can help with the barrelling ..how much do you want to under take ?
-
i"m sure its had a lot of hot turkish 8 mm shoot out of it..i;d stay with the 8mm or 257 rob.....but thats just my $.02
-
the mag latch is the same with a wedge added to it to latch the mag.. the mag sets in an adapter made from 1" square tubing
no mod needed to the receiver...filled in the trigger guard just for looks..
-
bubba struck again ...after a 45-70 enfield i wanted something differant..so this time its a 44 rem mag. with a ak magazine holds 4 rounds...700 rem. sights
