  1. its been around for some time..but i have never heard from anyone thats tried it..
  2. the way i understand it...the metal used in these mauser do not have high enough carbon content to be heat treated...carbon must be added to the surfaces ...usally with gas thats high in carbon while its in a heatreat oven.,.or packet in a high carbon powder while its in a oven...then after all this it must be quenchted in water cooled then reheated to a lower temp to lower the hardness .. not your average heat treat job!!!! search some of the other post you will find some addresses of heat treat people
  3. 30 Mauser tell use more...how are you feeding the round ?

    New 98k

i just can"t get over how many lives these old gew98 have..i got one last year from sog mixed in with some k kales..it was stamp 1954 barrel looked new..
  5. it make a fun gun to shoot ...no recoil just a big thud....i used a green mountain hex barrel thats a real tack driver
  6. "comical, half blind, appeared drunk and would swing their paws in the air at the direction of any noise or movement. " sounds just like fritz
  7. i can"t help you much with this ..i built one on a #4 " sort of " i made the mistake of put the barrel on and cutting the chamber.. then ordered the rhineland kit last august ..thomas seidel who ownes rhineland decided to screw me over on the kit ..keep my money and refuses to ship the parts or give refund..i"ve filed complants with ever one who i could think of..any way this is my problem not yours... have you tryed to repair the threads ...i wouldn"t give up on that action just yet
  8. those corelites stocks are sure nice when you"re on a long hike...seems every pound adds up
  9. does anyone know the ruger model 77 barrel thread dia....thinking of putting it on a turk..k. kale if the threads can be recut
  10. tools ....tools....tools... it must be nice to have tools...nice job thanks for posting it
  11. todd just rethreading the barrel is one thing but to make it look right the barrel will need to be timed to the action to make the sights comeup right.."you may know this " what i"m getting at is whom ever does the threading will need the action to mate them together. then chambered to head space correctly.... this timing thing does not bother some people but to me if your going to "do it " do it right...just stating all of this so all the people who may read this will know whats involved...i"ll ask around to see if i can find someone
  12. the foes that attacked us on 9-11 where from saudi arabia ..i knew we had troops there but didn"t know we were shoot them too.
  13. thanks mines a few mo. off just didn"t want to let it run out..
  14. do you receive a renewal in the mail for a C and R licence or do you reapply ?
  15. i hear you i really would like to try one of there oberndorf classic style stocks ..can"t find one like it anywhere else
  16. when you advance the tool for the next cut you advance the compound not the tool hold dial..this make the tool only contact on one side...making a better cut .......the tool goes in at an angle..... not straight into the part.. would n"t this be 27 1/2 ....half of 55
  17. i wish i could do checkering like that?
  18. this thread goes along with the one about how to hold a rem. barrel..... this is the setup i use...you can take it out put it in the vice check the threads and if your tring to time the sights and you need a little more off the top ...just put the dog back in the same hole and you can pick the threads right back up.. lot easyer than tring to reclamp it and set the cut tool back in the right place...
  19. what kind on barrel is it ..
  20. "What do you think would happen" i think the arab on arab all out civil war would spead throught out the mideast ..taking out much of israel...and changing the whole face of the gulf...and as i see it the opening shoots have long ago been fired..over a hundred a day dieing..this is just what " ben forgoten " wanted...israel looks to be in a no win fight...there only hope is to nuke them first and they have proved in the past they have the nerve to do it....i don"t think 20.000 or 200000 u.s troup can stop it...north korea is the least of our problems "he's got no oil"
  21. he:s final plaining ahead he knows we must add at least 90,000 more troops before we go to war against IRAN..i for any glad to see him look to the future.. http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2005-4/9889...eragheaddie.jpg
  22. i have a face plate that i put on inplace of the chuck...clamp a lathe dog on the barrel then thread on the right side on lathe.. this make it very eazy to take it out and torque it in the action to time the sights..i "ll try to post a pic of it later..
