You can occasionally find a decent deal at a gunshow, or at a gunsmith's shop or an old-fashioned sporting goods store (particular one that takes consignments). Gunsamerica.com tends to be overpriced. Gunbroker.com, Auctionarms.com and Gunrunnerauctions.com sometimes have some good deals. So do Armslist.com and Outdoortrader.com. You'll save a lot of money if you get a C&R license from BATFE first.
I just acquired a Colt 1917 in .45 ACP. The revolver is in great condition mechanically and the grips are fine, but the finish is just lousy. It's blotchy, a little bit of pitting here and there, etc. But I don't want to damage its value if rebluing would do that. Any opinions? Photo attached.
