  1. OK, I asked this same question on another forum & got a smart ass answer. I`ll try here .On a Mauser barrel with steps in it, are the steps the same configuration on all Mausers like the 98, Turk, Spanish, etc? Also, still talking step barrel, are the dia. of the barrels the same if you have a large ring receiver small shank barrel or a large ring receiver big shank barrel? The reason I`m asking is I have a Turk 03/38 that I have semi sportized already. I cut the barrel to 22in. & recrowned it & it`s one hell of an accrate shooter now & I want to dress it up with a nice stock. Thanks in advance.

  2. You shouldn`t pick on people because they are bad spellers. It doesn`t have anything to do with what kind of work they do. I have a machinist friend who has his own shop & is 68 yrs old & has been doing it since he was 16 & is self taught. He is the best in MHO, & yes he`s a bad speller, but he knows his math. If he can`t make it or fix it, it can`t be done.

  3. She looks and feels better already. Inlettinf wasn't to bad.

A quick trip to the range proved that form and function are spot on.

    Next step is sanding.

anyone have any adivice on laminates and tru oil. Hoe temp. sensitive is it?

    Thanks, Ahoyza

That will be nice stock when done. Got a question? Were the recoil lugs in it when you bought it, or did you put them in?

  4. You did a wonderful job on a wonderful old rifle and I'm sure you can feel the historic significance every time that you shoulder it. Perhaps you'll try some cast bullets down the road and see how they shoot. Looks like a lot of enjoyment is headed your way.

I tried cast bullets, 405g 459 dia with differant powder charges & they shot all over the place. This rifle seems to only like jacketed bullets, so that`s what I shoot in it.

  5. I know it`s not a modern military rifle, but it was military back in its day. I did all the work my self with mostly simple hand tools. I hand cut the barrel to 24" & recrowned it. It has a Rem 700 front sight on it & a Marble Arms 1899 Savage style tang peep sight. The stock has 5 coats of Tung Oil on it & is checkered which is a little rough as it was my first time, but I like it. I also added a cheek piece & recoil pad, as this is a real thumper when fired. I just recently added the double set triggers & it`s really shoots like a modern rifle now. I reload for it using Rem 405g, 458 dia. JFNSP bullets over 34g of RELODER 7. If my 73 year old eyes do there part, I can put round after round in a 12" bull out at 200yds.

  6. HI, got a question about triggers. I`m looking to buy a Timney trigger for my 03/38 Turk. I dislike the 2 stage one that`s on it. The ad says do you want a M98FN or a M98K trigger. Is there a differance & which one do I need? Thanks in advance.

  7. What is history? I agree none of these young people know a dam thing about the history of our country. There not taught in school & if they were I don`t think it would matter. Things are just not the same any more. I have nieces & nephews that don`t know crap about this country they live in & they don`t care either. Now you know how Nobama got relected. I can`t believe it, but I hear a lot of people saying how good people in other counties have it compared to us. That`s bull ######. I`m 73 years old & I don`t think I have to much to worry about how our country is going down the tubes in the years to come, if you know what I`m getting at?

  8. Here is my comments again hopefully the words will be larger.

I don’t buy the idea that the storm saved Obama. I think Romney was just too liberal for too many people.

Plus I believe a hell of a lot more gun owners voted for Obama than we would like to admit. It seems we have a terrible fudd problem in this country. Guys that don’t understand the issues and don’t think we need so-called assault weapons
