  1. I started to head this up as "Seasons Greetings" but decided to change to what it is cause politically correct just ain't my thing.I don't have a chance to get on here much lately. This past year I had heart bypass surgery in June, from which I am recovering nicely, and that just changes a lot of activities.I do still drop in once in awhile to read. This is still the best no nonsense straight talk tell it like it is place on the internet.

    MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL !!!!!!!

  2. I don't get on here much anymore but when I do I head for this section to see what Fritz is into.I am very saddened to hear of his demise and offer my condolences to his family.Passing on is hard for the surviving family but especially so at this time of year.Rest in peace,Fritz.

  3. Like Fritz,at age 66 I am much much kinder with myself.I'm kinder with most other people also.I do not now HAVE to be critical nor point out the mistakes of others.I sleep later, take more naps and forget more these days.

Life is like a roll of toilet paper....the closer you get to the end,the faster it goes.

  4. Tye had a special sense of humor. He was a very unique person.I enjoyed many a verbal repartee with him on chat at Curio and Relic forum.I shall miss him.

The true measure of immortality is not how long you live but how long you live on in the memory of those you touched along the way.

The lion at Delhi sleeps but lives on.

  5. Emul8 isn't mad at this forum.Of this I am sure or at least I think I'm sure. She doesn't come to the forum I usually see her on much either and she explained that since moving to New Mexico her internet time cost has risen sharply. That plus her new job have kept her absent for a lot of places she used to frequent.

I will certainly pass along your best wishes to her.

  6. That arrangement shown is a trigger block, not a true safety.A true safety will very slightly relieve the pressure on the cocked action so that there is no pressure on the trigger. There is always a chance that the rifle could fire using a trigger block.

The Mosin safety is a true action pressure reliever but in some cases many people find them difficult to use. This has been solved by Jim R(The boltman) who adds a ring onto the back of the cocking piece kind of like a K-31.I have one of these and it is hard to believe how easy it makes the Mosin safety to use.

  7. The Enfield 2A and it's successor, the 2A1 are not Enfields reworked for the 7.62X51Nato cartridge. They are rifles which were expressly made for this cartridge. There's been some controversy as to whether or not the Indian arsenal used a different stronger steel on these but that's never been proven nor disproven.

Most of them are good shooters. If you look on different forums you'll find a lot of recent posts concerning these since thae latest batch hit the market.Overall everyone is satisfied with them. For the money they are a good deal.I like mine and find it to be accurate as well as good looking.

  8. In 1984 Franklin's Sports in Athens,Georgia had crates of Chinese SKS's sitting on the floor at $39.95 apeice.

I wasn't aware that regular 10 round SKS magazines were hard to find. There is one in the showcase at the gunshop I work part time in.If anyone needs it just email me and I'll see what I can get it for.

  9. The barrel on the 91/59 is reportedly heavier than the one on an M38 or an M44.I have never miked one to determine if this is true but have heard this attributed to these carbines due to the fact that they are cut down 91/30's.A heavier barrell leads to better accuracy.

Being cut down 91/30's it stands to reason that the rifles would be in good shape. Most that I have seen are in great condition. It just wouldn't make sense for an arsenal to go to the trouble of cutting down a worn out piece.

My project rifle was a 91/59 with a pristine barrel.I put the action into an ATI stock, added a sniper bolt and a Makarov.com scout mount topped off with a Tasco 1.5X4.5X long eye relief scope.I've been very very pleased with the accuracy of the finished rifle. It is as accurate as any rifle I own and moreso than some.

  10. I must say,El Gaseous Pollo, that you and she make a damned FINE looking couple.

One would draw the conclusion from the looks on your faces that you are very happy with each other.I read a lot into facial expressions, you can tell a lot from them.Congratulations.

  11. Last week I bought one of these from this gent and had some interesting email correspondence with him concerning his process.

The finished product is great ,works good and looks good also.I heartily recommend this product for whatever good my endorsement is.

  12. The rifles being currently offered by Southern Ohio Guns,Century,AIM and all of the other major distributors at this time are all pretty comparable and all reports I have seen on these are favorable.

There is a gun show 9-10/11 at the Palmetto Expo Center and you may be able to find what you are looking for there.
