Hi Brian, I,m no expert, bit I wouldn't think it could collapse under recoil if you left it as is -8x57. I have a couple mil stocks laying around. Might give it a go myself. Just remember, bondo and fiberglass isn't light. I would think that if any thing it should soak up some of the recoil. Just my .035 worth. Dave

OH Happy Days, Absolutely NO more surgery, not even skin grafts. T he doc says she is 65-70% healed up on her own. She'll still be in a wheelchair for about 2 more months. He was surprised of how fast she is healing. Just wantedto share the good news with my friends. Thanks again for all your consern and best wishes. Dave and the family.

Here is the first stock I played with. Still use it for hogs . 8mm-06 k.kale action w/29" mil barrel.I also draw filed the steps off the barrel. I just soaked it with easy off oven cleaner for 1-2 hrs. then washed it down till no more soapy water came out, air dried for a couple days, then sanded the feathers off. I put 12 coat of tung oil on it. Not the fanciest stock but functional. Dave

hey guy, most of the popular reload mauals list the 8-06. loadbookusa has a load book on the 8-06/338-06 data. Accurate load manuals do to. I have both. The 8-06 in a 23-24" barrel will only give about 50 to 100 fps more. My 8-06 uses a turk 8x57 rechambered barrel (29") to 8-06 but it,s also rethroated .150". I'm getting about 150 to 175fps more. Not all will do the same.If you don't want to spend alot , I'd leave it as a 8x57 std. the 8x57 properly loaded can do pretty much anything an 30-06 can handle. We have an HP Pavillion w/80 gigs of storage. My daughter has 2 laptops. They are Toshibas w/ 15" lcd screens. All our sytems are wireless w/ DSL. Dave

hi brian923, the k.kale turk is a standard lenght action but with small ring dia barrel.they are a good rifle to have if the barrel is good. I have 3 of them. I took one and rechambered to 8mm-06, rethroated it another .150" deep. I seat my bullets only .250". this gives me extra room for kaboom power.If I was to build a 338-06 or 35 whelen, I would recommend using a vz24. I have 4 of them also.I still have the 8-06 finish reamer. I'm thinking of adding it to the sites share club. Dave

hi zlr, my k.kale has the mil 29" barrel. It's throwing 180gr nos bt's at 2850-2875 w/med load of imr4064. the 200gr speer hot cores w/imr 4064was average of 2750 w/med load. So far I haven't pushed em to max yet. what I do like about the 338-06 is bc compared to 8mm's. I only hunt hogs here w/8-06. I would have built a 338-06 but I had a few k.kale sr barrel given to me. Low cost investment for a good hog gun.Dave
